There's a Chinese saying, use the real enemies in training. Every time US jets/ships go near China sea for political reason, it's likely that they become part of PLA training, for free.

As a long time China watcher (not just military matters), one of the striking things is just how quickly things can change. Years ago one western China expert joked that he knew nothing worthwhile about China as he'd just returned from a 2 week vacation. The Chinese are acutely conscious of best practice around the world and are willing to put the time and effort into trying different things to see if they can catch up. Once they decide on a particular tech or approach, they go all in, and the change can be astonishingly rapid (for better or worse, they don't always get it right). You can state 'facts' about China that were absolutely correct 5 years ago, and are now hopelessly out of date.
@randompheidoleminor3011

I've seen China's industry rapidly catch up in many of my unrelated hobbies too, in fountain pens they went from crap that would break after two weeks to unironically having way better QC than renowned brands like Mont Blanc and Parker in the last decade (though honestly any fountain pen user would tell you this isn't a high bar nowadays) at a fraction of even the latter's budget offerings. It isn't controversial to say that DJI is absolutely dominating the consumer drone market, and that their offerings aren't shoddy either.
@suisinghoraceho2403

The Chinese are great at copying. They suck at original ideas. The reason is actually quite basic but hard to spot without being aware of your own personal bias and blinders. Have you ever wondered why the Chinese and Russians are complaining about "the West" and how we're "forcing democratic values on them"? Because... That's not what we're doing. Like... We're not. We're just doing business with them. There is no government agency in the West with that task or any task even coming in the general direction of that. And we're also quite happy to do business with dictators. So, what's going on? Well, we're doing it by accident. You can take an engineer out of the West, but you can't take the West out of an engineer. All the things that make a person a great inventive thinker are also things that make that person more inclined towards democracy and personal freedom. So, while it's not impossible for a loyal Chinese Engineer to be a great inventor and thinker it's a lot less likely. And they can't overcome that. They can't even recognize it, because it would be critical towards their way of government. For someone from the West to realize what's going on he "only" has to be able to recognize the internal bias he has grown into.

This phenomenon is very interesting. Every time you post a video of China-related content and give positive comments, the number of views and comments will increase dramatically, but the audience is not Chinese. Because people will explain in great detail and painstakingly, trying to explain to you that your positive views are wrong, misunderstood, and blinded by Chinese propaganda, even if you are an expert in the field of aviation.

Im a lot less optimistic here, the chinese regime just had to accept that flexibility is necessary for effective combat. The more effective training is rather a tool to support their imperialist ambitions, eg towards Taiwan. Theyre picking up a lot of western ideas in this regard, and seem smarter than Russia at implementing them. It might seem natural to assume authoritarians militaries are inflexible, especially since this was very much the case with Soveits and Chinese in the past. But eg nazi-germany relied on a tradition of giving NCOs and officers on location more freedom than some other militaries, like the british forces (ofc the brits also adapted to their experience in turn).

Why not? Chinese have been watching and learning from Russia and west for 50 years now, and since the last few decades when china has global coverage and can spy on all US and allies military exercises, what is there to hide still? USA has not fought a modern peer adversary in a theater where they don't have air supremacy or sea supremacy. Over Taiwan it will likely be the reverse, with China enjoying massive advantage due to logistics and geography. USA would have to fight the whole thing inside china's a2-AD range and play right into chinas hands and what they've single mindedly been planning and building for for 70 years or more now. China's in no rush since war is never good but it will never back down to foreign threats and meddling in china's internal affairs, aka the unfinished Chinese civil war between PRC and ROC.

The think tanks and the bigwigs basically just play echo chamber with what the lunatics in Washington wants to hear. And over the last 20+ years, that echo chamber have been filled with more and more racism, hate propaganda, dehumanisation and demonisation. All brought together by the wonders of wishful thinking and ARROGANCE beyond belief that seems to infect USA so disgustingly and increasingly among the selfproclaimed elite that plagues the nation. . Quite the opposite! Guess why even IMF stated that Russian economy will GROW in 2023, despite essentially all of Nato and EU will have a recession, quite possibly a SEVERE recession. Guess why IMF expect Russian economy to grow EVEN MORE in 2024? Oh, the Russian economy was DISRUPTED, by the sanctions. However, those disruptions are a shortterm issue, and with some exceptions, most of them have now been taken care of. And the result is that the HUGE amount of things that Russians used to buy imported? Now they've found that, hey, actually these Russian brands are just as good, and cheaper! And some Russian industries even have outright boom markets. Like softdrinks. Domestic production of those have increased by an almost ridiculous amount. I guess you also believe that Russia can't build advanced electronics because they don't have chips... And like all the morons who think that, i point them to the wikipedia article of PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE, about the Krokus chipfab outside of Moscow, which entered fullscale massproduction in 2018, and when it did, made Russian military completely INDEPENDENT from outside sorces of chips. Because hey, guess what, Russia inherited the ability to build their own chipfabs from the USSR. They're not up to date with production nodes? Who cares, as long as the hardware works correctly and is reliable, which it does and is. . The sanctions have not just failed, they have actually STRENGTHENED RUSSIA. That is the simple truth, and something you would know even if you just stepped outside the propaganda bubble and listened to African, Indian, Latin American news. What's worse, is the fact that the sanctions are going to destroy the EU economies. 30% increased price on food even just here in Sweden in the last year? Which isn't anywhere near the worst hit in Europe. Oh yes, thank you EVER so much for that Biden maffia regime. It's become a frickin meme, "Russia's economy is in tatters! In tatters i tell you!". That's what Ursula the idiot said and keeps repeating variations of, and she's just as wrong now as she was the first time she said it. The only difference is that NOW, even the big western names are openly admitting that it's wrong. Most notably, the IMF.

China is increasing the numbers of trainer jets to improve their pilots training and the massive new intake of pilots. China is building an armada with growing aircraft carrier fleets and they need more pilots and therefore the increase in trainer jets. While US's defence budget had increased, the quality had not! Owing to an aging navy, several failed navy projects, the navy is so strap of funding that US had a big problem at hand in replacing the Ticonderoga cruisers about to be decommissioned within the next few years! US still have 17 Ticonderoga cruisers which needs to be replaced by the DDGX, but the exorbitant cost of DDGX is giving the US a massive headache! US simply don't have enough money to fund the new DDGX program when a looming banking crisis is on the horizon!

Know that internet jockeys are not representative of the American military's perspective on the actual threat China represents. The threat is well understood, tracked, and documented. As is noted in the video, most of the information here in fact came from the US Government sources. However, there are ALSO 2 factors to consider. While great progress has been made by the Chinese training in recent years, a lot of tactical knowledge has come from the hiring of former NATO pilots (Mostly Brits). This is a resource than in the past 2 years has finally dried up as many of these pilots, who were being handsomely compensated, have now been dissuaded from assisting what is now being largely viewed as a very likely future NATO foe by the alliance. Additionally, much of the Chinese training regiment is still in it's relative infancy and still lacks some of the layered depth of Western forces. To take Chinese capabilities lightly is FOOLISH. To ignore the true potential of an American led alliance against China, would be equally, if not more ignorant. Besides, "It is common knowledge", that there is a whiff of general anti Americanism bias that permeates some of these postings. :). Great Channel, great content ...as always!

If anyone was keeping up with the news recently, one would’ve figured this out when several former military Western pilots were investigated and or charged by their home countries for training and sharing western tactics to Chinese pilots. China’s in for the long haul and not to be underestimated. They may not have the technology yet to match the US, but they sure as hell are raising a warrior class/culture within their military ranks. This process started in the 90s, and they are adapting quickly. Only time will tell, and they have all of time in the world.

Having a 'warrior class/culture' is politically dangerous for any peoples (see: Myanmar, failed Turkish coup, the Gabon shenanigans, etc), and the opposite of that the CPC wants - the party must control the g*n after all, as that is where political power comes out of. Definitely improving their capabilities and training, but not creating a modern 'knight' class.

There is a huge difference between JL-9 (FTC-2000) and JL-9G (FTC-2000G), because JL-9 without that letter G at the end is a Chines pilot training aircraft while the plane marked G much greater possibilities and it is made for export!!! He can carry armaments just like the J-10 planes which are 4. generation, while the JL-9 can carry four practice rockets that serve only to training pilots!!! JL-9 flies at a speed of 1.1 Mach and JL-9G flies at a speed of 1.4 Mach. They are diametrically two different planes, JL-9 is only a school plane, and JL-9G is a school - fighter plane!!! Four countries with a smaller budget, it can also be a clean - blood fighter. Now I don't know which of the two you mean, with G or without G mark in name of aircraft!!! And in books you don't have a type JL-9G because he is made much later than JL-9!!!
