Manny! When I was single I started taking myself on dates, I would go to restaurants and sit at the bar and eat. I went to drive in movies by myself, I even took myself to the beach. Once I got completely comfortable being alone is when I found my partner. It gave me so much peace and confidence knowing I can do things on my own I think it lead me to a better place.

I totally agree with y’all about Instagram.. even as a user who is not a content creator it’s the most annoying app! I use it to catch up with people and see pictures I don’t want to see people who I don’t follow 🙄

Another thing, I've been watching you two for YEARSSSS I was 16 years old and I am now 23, have 4 kids and my son will sit down with me and watch Manny's makeup videos. I have grown to love the both of you not only as creators but as the inviduals you both are, this pod cast has given me the sense of knowing you how real, raw and vulnerable you are as humans. I love you both and will continue to support your careers 💞

It will never not make me chuckle that IG will do every update on earth except give us what we want. They care more about changing the colors of our message bubbles or moving buttons around than anything else. The incompetency runs deep.

I used to think of Instagram as a scrapbook but now I don't even like posting because my friends and family doesn't even see my photos! I stopped and started posting on Facebook! I am sad the way Instagram has been for several years you guys are on 🎯🎯

As I’m watching this I hopped on IG for a second and just learned that you can stop IG from showing you suggested posts for 30 days! Wish it was forever but when a suggested post is shown on your feed you can click the little three dots on the right and then click not interested 🙌🏽

its so hard being an artist on instagram because youd think a photo sharing app would promote photos right? no, reels (aka reposted tiktoks) are the only way to get traction and id much rather post my final art piece then stress out making a video

Absolutely love Laura's outfit. And also, Manny hit the nail on the head. Big companies/corporations do just use Pride Month as a sale, and it is pandering. It's gross. My husband works in retail and says all the pride/rainbow stuff has to be discounted towards the end of June to get it off the shelves. And for some reason, that really annoys me. It's like the whole meaning of it is lost, and it's just another thing to virtue signal about.

I'm relived that I'm not the only one having technical issues with IG. This issue I have with them is I cant change my profile photo I just get an error. I did find a loophole on changing it but IG needs to fix their app.

I absolutely love how I have been following yall since 2015! The evolution and watching yall grow is amazing. Whatever platform I get, I make sure to follow both of you❤️

I think it is the lack of strategy from instagrams side. They are known for the way of sharing pictures , they can still innovate but it would be more effective and satisfying for your target group if the app is still mainly focused on pictures, and that also means that pictures will be the most rewarding thing you can do on the app. This situation today is horrible, nobody can tell anymore what their strategy and purpose is? So mang different things without something taking the star position. Their quantity of acitivities lowers their quality

Loved this! I've been working in social media for 3-4 ish years now and Instagram is just so wild to me! the fact the they so obviously and aggressively compete with other apps to try to stay the top social app by taking popular features from competition and implementing them instead of coming up with new features for instragram is just wild. Like it worked the first few times where they took stories and then snapchat started to die but i think what they're doing to try to compete with tiktok is not going to work in their favour this time.. they're alienating users with all the shitty algorithm and feature updates in recent years which will leave space for another photo app to swoop in and take their place! idk why they didn't just focus on the fact that they were the top photo sharing app...

Laura maybe you could make a video of how you plan your whole week and what your planner typically looks like. I struggle with productivity and taking advantage of my time. I feel like you could really help others like me! Love this podcast so much ❤️

I need to mention something I’ve experienced with IG, I noticed that I get more views on my IG stories when ppl interact. I’m not a creator or anything, but when ppl interact on my stories (likes, responses, and reactions) I get wayyyy more views as opposed to stories where I only get a few likes or responses. So now I feel like IG may also hide or not show your stories where your followers aren’t really interacting, idk just an observation

It’s also business accounts! I market my business heavily on socials and it is SO HARD to get my posts pushed on ig. I’m slowly falling in love with TikTok because it’s SO relatable

YAAAAASSSS!!!! Thank you. I literally don’t watch ANY regular television, I only watch RU-vid on my TV, everyday, for hours! Everyday I come home, turn the tv on, go to RU-vid, and go to my subscriptions ready to sit back, relax, and watch long form content. All of the shorts cluttering my feed makes me insane! Happy to see at least some people also realize the inconvenience

To be fair… considering manny’s pit… every company is going to highlight something big that’s happening that month. Valentine’s Day. Mother’s Day. Black history month. Easter…. All of them get their own kind of month basically to highlight and brand for whatever it is that’s going on. I understand his point, but I think that’s a point to be had as well.

Also, do you notice that youtube and twitter have always stayed on one lane? In their lane, with constant subtle innovation but no drastic changes. This is why they stand the test of time, people compartmentalize them and the app stays “loyal” to its target group. Instagram is the opposite.

Manny can relate to going out alone! I forced myself to start going out alone and it was so amazing and taught me so much about me. My favorite thing I used to do is go to my favorite dive bar and is read books and study tarot in a back booth alone. It was so liberating being alone in a busy place but have my own space, and believe it or not, it brought people to me who were just curious what I was doing. I defiantly recommend self dates!

From Pride month to Black history month to Asian American Pacific Islander heritage month, etc. It’s like brands and people in general take it as their opportunity to cash in or pass as inclusive and accepting when any other time of the year they are tone deaf or just ignorant to the realities people face every day. A stupid glitch that I have on IG is that when I get a DM, even if I open it and I go back out it will say I didn't open it like it will still pop up as having how many ever unread. I have to go into the DM and swipe up on it a few times to make it go away. It makes no sense and is very annoying!

Q: Laura Has anyone at IG ever mentioned that filming on app reels helps its reach? I had similar issue at beginning w/reels where I lost hours of work and stopped filming in app. But reach has been off over all. I’m also confused with shorts it messes with our algorithm too!
