Your question is flawed. The concept of allyship is flawed. The question you should ask is only whether him being elected will help move forward or backward LGNTQ rights vs the alternative. The alternative being offered is the worst president in American history, one who fought specific LGBTQ rights reforms and a VP who openly advocates theocracy. Allyship as a concept ignores how progress based on common ground works.
I would love to organize a straight pride parade because if it wasn't for the straight people the mixed up alphabet people wouldn't be here The theme would say straight pride populating the Earth since the beginning
@@PoweredByRainbows not just register also keep checking to make sure they haven’t removed your name from the list. They did it to me and a few other people I know. Don’t assume, make sure
@@OlivesAndHam I'm not a competition kind of person when it comes to this stuff but If I'm not mistaken he's done more for lgbt+ rights than she has. That isn't a "she's bad because he's better" kind of statement though, and I'm fine is I'm mistaken and forgetting the things she's done.
As a "straight" man in a society where hatred and ignorance are becoming a "norm" against marginalized people. I'm ashamed at how willfully people become ensnared in the vitriol of corporate backed, misinforming hatred!! I'm absolutely sick of this s***, freedom for all or freedom for none, period!! Keep up the fight fam...👍👊
@thecovensystem nah, I just care about people fam, ain't nothing special about me. What's happened is we have an over abundance of SELF righteous, SELF induced, SELF empowerment, produced by like "minded" sociopaths "leading" them into absurdity and eventual oblivion. This type of hatred and "loudness" only ever proves their weaknesses!! It's become so NORMAL that when a human being DISPLAYS HUMANITY it appears like it's a "rare" thing but it's not! @@ExpectantHarvest I’m sorry, do you mean “what he will do to children” in a positive or negative way? For your sake (/gen), I’m *really* hoping it’s the former…
I have been voting for Walz since 2006. He taught highschool in my hometown of Mankato MN. For every book that is banned in the US ,Tim adds them to his 'little Minnesota ' library. He was an advisor for Mankato West highschool's gay and straight alliance. He knew that the straight football coach was exactly the person that was needed to protect students and give perspective to others. When he signed the bill for gender affirming care,he had a young trans child right next to him....holding his hand. He is as authentic as they come. Damn, writing this is making me cry. I just love and appreciate him so damn much. I hope that y'all spend a little time getting to know Tim Walz. It's gonna be awfully hard for some of us Minnesotans to lose him as Governor. We do have Peggy Flanagan to take over. She was Walz's mentor and will do a great job as the first woman and native American Governor in Minnesota history. I'm a straight mother with four children. Three of them are gay. I know how important he has been for us. Can't stop crying..gonna go hug my kids Much love to you all. ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing and for being so accepting of your kids. We’re so glad to hear from former students of his and always, we hear good things. That’s so good to hear it’s not just reports of him being a great guy but actual people he’s interacted with. That’s incredible so thank you for sharing. Much love ❤️ and rainbows 🏳️🌈, Professor Pride
It's not just the locals who have benefited from Tim Waltz. Minnesota is becoming known as a refuge from the madness, a place where The Community, in all its variety can find acceptance, sanctuary and good health care. We have some of the best medical facilities in the country, and are rated among the top five states in the US to live in. That is definitely a result of Tim's efforts, at least in part.
@HezrouDhiaga It would be nice if he would come to Dallas, Texas to visit LGBTQIA+ church, Cathedral of Hope United Church of Christ. After all it is ironic because his daughter's name is Hope. Which would be well fitting. Don't you think?
as a gay man after reading boy erased I still have nightmares about reparative/convertion therapy luckily I live in a country where it has never landed or at least has never spread as a practice
As a Minnesotan, I can testify that he is a big lgbtq ally. He has significantly improved our way of life here in Minnesota. Please support him and VP Harris. The Republicans want to send us back to the shadows. Vote Blue. 💙💙💙💙
@@courtlandbrady5847 In the age of information, ignorance is a choice. If you have the ability to comment here, then you have the ability to look it up. I don't do anyone's homework. Only my own. Don't be like the Trump Gumps and believe everything you hear without fact checking. You can start by clicking on this video that you clearly have not seen.
@@CarlosHernandez-ok7kx i heard he passed a bill that says if your minor child wants to be trans and have hormone replacement therapy and a change of genitals. You absolutely have to let them do it. And if you tell them no, and do not let them, the gov could take your kids from you forever. Is this true?
Walz is by far the most genuinely good person that I've seen at this level of politics in my life. He is compassionate, and there isn't a corrupt bone in his body. This is why the GOP has resorted to outright smearing him and they are flailing.
I don't think a question is stupid, even if the answer is obvious. At least not if the answer given is detailed and filled with well researched facts. This video will be helpful in discussions or for people stumping for the ticket. P.s. I do understand that your choice of words in this comment was meant as a light-hearted exaggeration. I just thought I'd add this for those who might be wondering (if there are any). P.p.s: love your handle, as someone from a region that goes nuts over asparagus every April!
I don't even need to watch this video to know that the answer is yes. As a Minnesotan, Tim Walz's achievements have made my life and the lives of those around me noticeably better in a bunch of ways. I'm so proud that he was chosen for VP candidate and that our state is being represented by such a great man
He was supporting and protecting queer kids in the Midwest in the 90s when that was political suicide. Tim Walz isn't just an ally. He's an amazing man.
I doubt he will ever run for POTUS. He wasn’t actually interested in VP. He is more likely to coach the Vikings after her serves as VP. Unfortunately. He would be the best POTUS.
I'm in Britain, but being Gay (and disabled) I feel so invested in the outcome of this election - despite not being a citizen - that I visited Kamala Harris' website and attempted to donate to her campaign. I may not be an American citizen, but your elections affect the whole world. (You even call your President the "Leader of the Free World", which is as terrifying as it is presumptuous!) But despite having a vested interest, of course I was unable to donate as, quite rightly, non-nationals can't be allowed to influence elections. However, since you said that revenue from your previous video was donated to the campaign, I'm wondering if I gave you a donation to Powered By Rainbows, could you then donate it to the Harris campaign, and would that be legal? I really want to contribute in some way. This election is too important - for all of us.
No question there I am voting for Harris and Walz. I am so glad Kamala chose Walz as her running VP mate. We need to move forward not backward which is what Trump wants.
Minnesota resident here, I admit we have a few weirdly pronounced cities and towns, such as Wayzata, which I don't even know how to pronounce tbh, but I have only ever heard Mankato pronounced as Man-Kay-Toe, not Man-Ka-Toe. Got a small chuckle out me after a second when I realized where you were talking about.
I had NO idea how to pronounce it so I just did my best. But you’re right, there’s a lot of weird city names in Minnesota. That said, there’s a lot of weird ones in Pennsylvania too where we film from.
Tim Walz is an extraordinary human in a very friendly, ordinary-looking package. His record on LGBTQ issues is exemplary, often pioneering. And he is the embodiment of healthy masculinity. Kamala chose well. 💙
I’m so happy to see this!! I feel hope things are changing for the better! But we need to Vote and help others vote. 💙Postcards to Swing States 💙 is awesome action if you get inspired!
I really hoped that she'd pick Pete Buttigieg for VP, so I was initially disappointed. But everything thing he says or that I hear about him makes me love Tim Walz more and more! What an emotional roller-coaster we're stuck in right now: sitting on edge, waiting on a coinflip to see if hope wins and we get to be real people, or if hate wins and we legally become the enemy again. I'll sleep in December. 💙
Pete isn't much of an ally. He's very pro corporation unlike Tim who is more of a progressive. The only reason for wanting Pete is that he's a killer in a debate. Tim though has a affability and charisma that will sway average midwesterners
Minnesotan here. I find Walz to be extremely charismatic. He has a great head on his shoulders, and a greater heart. I will be sad to lose him as a governor, but super happy to have him as a V.P.
I’ve been trapped in a loveless marriage, with a pathologically lying, narcissistic, emotionally and mentally abusing man, for 35 years, and have finally been able to break free. I’ve SWORN, if the time came, I would NEVER date another man, because I couldn’t go thru that again. I’ve had a difficult time believing that there are men, my age, who share my values. (The youth of today have my heart! I ADORE the way they accept all people for who they are, regardless of race, religion, sexual preferences, and how they accept everyone who embraces their true gender. AND how they have a true handle on what’s important in the world! Yes, there are young MAGA people who have been swayed by their terrible parents, but thankfully, they are the minority. I, however, couldn’t be more proud of our young people! And truly believe that they will do right by this world, when it’s time for them to take over. It’s beautiful to witness!) But then… Kamala Harris chose Tim Walz as her running mate, and I was flabbergasted! There really ARE kind, older men out there who believe the way that I do? And embrace my values? Including the fact that ALL people deserve to be happy? (Maybe even myself?) I’m still not sure that I would ever date again, because I’m terrified. But if someone, like Tim, ‘Walzed’ into my life? I might have to rethink my stance. 🥰 In my 59 years, I’ve never known a man who hasn’t been racist, sexist, homophobic… you name it! My dad was as close to sharing my values as I ever got, but even HE had his moments. But nearly EVERY other man in my life, including grandfathers, uncles, cousins, and again, my husband… were all horrible people!! But more and more ‘older’ men have been coming out of the woodwork, and sharing their values, and it’s been giving me hope for the future! We just need to win this election, so we don’t go BACK to the era in which my male family members thought they were ‘hot shit’. PLEASE, GOD! Noooooo! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Neither did we until Kamala picked him as her VP but now that we know who he is, we have to say how much we love the guy for being such an incredible ally. The more we learn about him, the more we love him as a candidate.
When I think of tim walz support of us even when it was "taboo" a quote from half life 2 comes to mind "The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world."
In one of Tims speeches, he stated "mind your own business" despite your neighbours doing the things that you won't be doing to yourself. How can anyone not understand the simplicity of this message?😅 This applies to everything unless you commit a crime or bully others There are limitations on freedom of speech and lying openly in public to create division is part of it 😊
In 1994, my best friend of 16 years was brutally murdered in his own home for no other reason than he was gay. Even if RU-vid wouldn't take down the post for the violence involved, I wouldn't post it. Suffice to say, it was viscous in the extreme. Our friendship was strictly platonic, but when he died, it tore a hole in my soul that just won't heal. It's been 30 years, and I still miss him. Vile people who do things like this have a lot to answer for!!!!!!
I sincerely hope we make history, what with our first woman president, for one, and two, such a power duo of a pres and vp? If these two win the election it's going to be monumental for our history as a country and as a people. I'm terrified, but excited at the same time.
He is my governor and he is amazing and while he isn’t perfect no one is he owns his mistakes and he has always tried to do the right thing he is also a big supporter of disabled people.
@@kbowman772 that is true, however RFK has been in the talks to endorse trump in exchange for a job, what a scumbag. However I believe that even if RFK endorses trump his supporters might still end up voting for Harris, especially since if somebody isn’t voting for trump now, they aren’t gonna vote for him ever
I’ve already said this before but I’ll say this every time I get to. If I ever have children and my son and/or my daughter/son’s husband is just like Tim Walz, I will be happy to know that the young man will be part of my family and that he has a big old welcome mat for him at my/our front door.
I had to hide who I was most of my life just to survive, many people in my personal life hated people like me. I grew up in the 90's and knew I was queer very early on in life. I had boy friends, girl friends, and I cried so much over it and my parents were so hard on me. I tried to take my own life many times. I now know that because I am here, and I am trying to shine my light others are now shining. It took me a long time to get the healthcare I needed and I was at a bit of a advantage in where I lived. Sadly 105 books have been banned in my state recently and have been filling them with Trump and litterally nazi propaganda books in the libraries. Especially in my home town Roseville michigan where they have such propaganda books for Trump as "How Trump Will Save America". They have removed almost all LGBT books while also having LGBT fliers. I would love it if Kamala came out after the election just to give these nazi's the middle finger.
I'm a straight white guy but highly delighted Tim Walz seems to be such a good man to help all communties. Live and let live is my motto. I'm not an American so can't vote but you best grab this golden opportunity to make progress 👍 Fun fact, He renamed a 7 mile stretch of road in honour of Prince, also he apparently used purple ink 😁 "Minnesota has named a seven-mile stretch of Highway 5 in honor of Prince. Gov. Tim Walz signed the bill establishing Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway on Tuesday at Paisley Park in Chanhassen, where Prince lived, worked and performed on occasion."
I’m glad we are getting a great paring of people for this election because as a trans Individual, living in Texas I have a hard enough time getting through the day but it’s possible we will see actual change and that’s amazing.
Walz recognizing the position he had as the Straight, White, Male, Cisgendered, *_football coach_* in a midwestern high school in helping students be more accepting speaks volumes of how aware he is of LGBTQIA+ matters, and how his support for them is important. That says enough for me.
JD Vance went to a student party in drag. There's also the story of how he brought baked goods to his friend who was recovering from top surgery. That friend is public defender Sofia Nelson. Now, that to me paints a picture of a man, who probably used to be decent in his heart of hearts, but is now forced to dance to the tune of the MAGA, super conservative Christian crowd. It makes me sad. I don't know what his truth is, but JD Vance is definitely not an ally.
I'm so jaded at this point that despite how truly amazing and exciting it is to have a ticket this supportive of us, I dare not dream of how good things might get if they're elected. I try not to be a single issue voter, but when it's a difference between literal life and death for me it's hard not to feel isolated when the race is still this close, or that I even have a say voting in Kentucky. I'll still be voting, but I'll be holding my breath until all is said and done.
If you're a genuinely good person, they won't be able to smear you in any meaningful way. Walz vs. those who prefer fear and hate to understanding and compassion are proof of that. I am so happy he's going to be the VP
As if I needed more reasons to love this guy! I cant wait for him to be VP! Everyone make sure to get out and vote this November. We can make a better future ❤
Honestly I think RFK is going to take more votes from Trump than from Kamala. He’s very clearly conservative, and seems appealing to more moderate conservatives
I say this as a bisexual man. There are more pressing issues we should be worried about. Right now, I don’t really care who’s an ally and who’s not. I want my country safe, affordable, and a guaranteed future for my kids. I do not trust Harris and Walz to make that happen.
I’m straight but I don’t see how anyone could hate any individual or group because those groups aren’t exactly the same as they are. Everyone deserves respect, love, civil rights, and inclusion. I could never vote for anyone who spews hate against others.
