Thank you, this is so comforting. Travel nursing is my dream, and it was scaring me how much everyone was saying my dream was dead.

Yesss love your video thank you! I refuse to go back to staff! As long as I can make X amount for the whole year and take 2 months off for summer! Yess travel is here to stay! And more dates going compact! This is opening up more options for us! ❤❤❤

Yeah for sure! Traveling def has some cons but I’d much rather make money and deal with the inconvenience. I can’t imagine going back to making 30 something dollars an hour 🫢

I love travel nursing, I tried to return to normal work but found how terrible things have gotten since covid, I am pondering returning to travel nursing. I miss how freeing and fulfilling the work was, I felt like I was there with a mission. Great Video!

Some Travel Nurses are "Independent Contractors" but A LOT are still travel nurses that are W2 with salary and reimbursements for "travel" so this video is really related to Travel Nurse that are Independent Contractors with agency.

Thank you for the video. I am thinking about travel nursing for a while now but insurance part scares me a lot. Would you please make a video about insurance costs approximately and what it covers. Thank you, Christina.

Rates are still lower than they should be and many agencies are offering less than 3k / week for 36 hours. Maybe when you opt for 48 hrs. It’s awesome for those receiving over 3k/ wk for 36hrs

I’ll be doing my first Travel Assignment in January 2023! I’m 68 y/o male RN with 42 yrs of experience! My Specialty is in Endoscopy. Do you have a separate Malpractice policy? Do Travel Companies provide or offer this insurance?
@christinatravels6717
@christinatravels6717 Год назад
Congrats! Endoscopy is great I’m trying to get into that field. They have so many high paying spots. Is it mostly doing assessments and starting IVs? Your travel company covers you for general malpractice but you can always get your own if you feel you need it. Just ask your recruiter what the company covers.
@michaelh2716
@michaelh2716 Год назад
@@christinatravels6717 Endoscopy requires to assist with "procedures". Meaning you help the GI Doc with collecting tissue samples from the esophagus, stomach, etc and from the colon. Also the RN will do "Moderate Sedation" using Fentanyl and Versed. But more and more hospitals and clinics are using Anesthesiologists and CRNA's for sedation using Propofol. Also you are expected to assist in the placement of plastic and/or metal stents in the esophagus, duodenum, bile and pancreatic ducts. A lot of hospitals and GI Clinic use "GI Techs" to do the tissue collection. The primary job of the RN is documentation on the computer and "watching" for pt status. It's a GREAT field of Nursing. You'll find in the first few weeks that your lower back get sore due the the length of time your a standing. You are correct that pre and post assessments along with starting IV's are part of the job.

Does Aya's health insurance coverage have co-insurance? High co-pays? I couldn't find that specific info. anywhere on the website. Another companies website had that this info. available had lousy insurance plans... a 20% co-insurance, $500 ER co pay, etc. The insurance is a big part of the package for me.
@christinatravels6717
@christinatravels6717 Год назад
Aya’s is a bit pricey but they use Aetna which is a good insurance provider. You can pick different plans and you can add your family.
@iluvutube4886
@iluvutube4886 Год назад
@@christinatravels6717 What I’m more concerned about is how comprehensive the coverage is. My insurance through my hospital is great! No co-insurance, no high co pays. I know family can be added.

Do you find that you get floated often on your assignments? I've heard this happening to people before and it just doesn't make sense to me. They say the travel nurse is the first to float, but how is it considered remotely safe to send the newly hired most inexperienced and unfamiliar nurse to another unit, sometimes even outside of their speciality entirely 😅🤯 Kinda worries me to start travelling.
@christinatravels6717
@christinatravels6717 Год назад
No but I work outpatient oncology infusion so there is not many places they can float me too. Outpatient doesn’t get floated inpatient. I have been floated to a clinic before and it was easy. However, if you are an inpatient nurse you have a greater risk of being floated to other floors.
@vayoha02
@vayoha02 Год назад
They'll only float you if your skills match that area. I've floated on my assignments. Off your unit sucks, floating is a break! If you float to the ER, they'll give you admitted pts waiting for a room. It's not bad to float 🛟🙂

Travel nursing is DEAD! My wife’s latest contract came up for extension … they said they wanted to extend the travel nurses they currently had… and then literally proceeded to cut their pay nearly in HALF! They only are paying the travel nurses $21/ hour now! That includes EVERYTHING stipends etc. No way it’s even close to worth it! New grads make more than that as a W2! Hell…she could go work at Target and make almost that with much much less stress! She opted NOT to extend. Short answer, at least from what we are seeing on the battlefield, in the trenches, is that the gold rush is OVER and travel nursing IS indeed dead.
@christinatravels6717

When you say 3k a week is it after taxes or before? Thx
@christinatravels6717
@christinatravels6717 Год назад
The postings on websites show you before taxes but you can get a break down from your recruiter. Taxes will vary with your home state and travel state. If you live in a state that has state income tax you will have to pay that every check on top of the taxes in the travel state.
