Hats off to traveling nursing! I couldn’t do it just for having to learn all the different software charting!

What people are calling 'travel nursing' now is not real travel nursing. Back in the day, the agencies used to pay for your hotel, airfare, rental car, AND meals and incidentals in addition to your (high) hourly pay. All of that is gone now. They still take their cut of the pie but you, the nurse, gets screwed. The better way to do this is to incorporate an LLC and work for yourself as a 1099 IC with the travel companies. Run all of your income through the LLC and don't take any reimbursements from the travel company. (When you do that they get to claim big expense write downs from the IRS). The IRS allows you to take MUCH bigger deductions for your own business as a self-employed business owner. As long as you can prove that you are paying to maintain living in your tax home base and that you travel away from it for work, you can deduct all of the travel related costs as a business expense. (Yes, the hotel or AirBnD, all those miles you're driving...) Stop allowing travel nursing companies to get rich of you and start making yourself rich. After all, you are the one who's doing all the hard work.

Finishing my very first travel Assignment and I totally agree! I have learned so much from my mistakes. Fortunately my home base expenses are pretty low but I definitely paid more on this assignment. You have to factor in things like whether you want to cook or not, how close you are to your facility and your safety. No regrets and doing this all over again in 3 weeks 😊

I’m so glad I found your channel! You have great advice! I was if in your opinion, travel nursing is even worth it for LPN/LVNs. I love to travel as one but the pay is so low compared to all costs, plus moving every 13 weeks doesn’t sound exactly easy, lol. I’m thinking that I become an RN (if I even do); I should probably just change jobs and cities/states after my leases are up. What do you think? I really hope you can answer.

Cons: no PTO, trash health insurance, no pension, no workers comp, random work scheduling, hardest assignment, risk of contract cancellation, bait and switch by agencies or hospital dropping rates, airbnb headache, duplications expenses IRS audit later on with hefty penalties added 😢
