I haven't dug through the stats but has a team besides UConn won championships over the past 25 years under 3 different coaches?

Kevin Ollie won on the fumes of Jim Calhoun, he did it with Calhoun's team. Like how Mike Tomlin won the super bowl on the fumes of Bill Cowherd.

@@xuimodto answer OP, no, of course not. Only Ollie was taking that team to a title. He took over during a suspension year and got Shabazz and Boatright to buy in and stay focused for the following year. Ollie and that group were really connected. I honestly think he's the only coach in the nation who wins in 2014 with that team.

No one was going to beat Duke in '99 either, but Uconn pulled off that upset so they know as well as anyone what's at stake

Uconn hasn't had the same level of dominance as Kentucky, UNC, duke or Kansas, but they have every now and then came out and made storied runs. Their a blue blood now, but they have missed the tournament quite a bit. But when they do make it they dont lose. They have a high success rate when they do have teams that make runs.

Great point! Also, they have had some good players but they have not had the amount of top high school talent like those other schools. Calhoun seemed to build a team he liked; similar to Izzo, and maximized their ability to Win in March.

Uconn doesn't get the type of recruits that blue bloods get. Stephon castle is atypical almost. Look at the last 10 years of recruiting for unc, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, uconn. Uconn isn't close to the quality recruiting. Some how some way every few years they win it all. Atleast for Calhoun, he he's great at developing his players. I'm not sure what happened to calipers once he went to kentucky.

@@whiteteaforthewin Calipari when he first arrived at Kentucky went on one of the most dominant 7-8 year runs in history. He only won one title but ironically lost to UConn in the 2014 title game and went to 4 final fours in 6 years. Right now I think he is just getting older and doesn't have the same hunger or ambition he once did. He has next year to get back to winning again and if he doesn't he will probably step down.

@Wetrockstah2116 His recruiting approach got stale I think. Simply recruiting the most talented players, mostly 1 and dones, will make it difficult to compete with teams returning players since they can cash in on NIL deals. He needs to recruit teams rather than just players, but thats just my opinion

@whiteteaforthewin Looking at the last 10 years paints a very inaccurate picture. Uconn was a contender most years under Calhoun, but then ended up in the mediocre AAC conference, and Calhoun retired. Kevin Ollie came in and ruined the program but Hurley has restored them and then some. Look at the current recruiting or start 10 years back and it would be more accurate

No such thing as blue bloods anymore because of the portal and the draft. This years tournament as of today has no UCLA, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, Indiana, North Carolina or Arizona.

wrong. blue bloods exist. the portal only effects the first two rounds of the tournament. what you’re seeing right now is the separation from the good teams and the great teams. UConn Duke UNC Arizona made the sweet 16. so far 2 of them lost, UConn won. Alabama and Clemson are great teams but not blue bloods. Gonzaga made 9 straight sweet 16s. it’s UConn leading the field right now

wtf u sayin. since 2008, there have been three teams (baylor, louisville, virginia) that won the title who were not named Duke, Uconn, North Carolina, Kansas or Villanova. 13/16 have been blue bloods.
