Thinking of installing a Turbo on your Diesel. When you think Diesel Think Berrima Diesel. W: www.berrimadiesel.com RU-vid: www.youtube/Berrimadiesel P: 024877156
Your videos are worth their weight in gold and much appreciated. A weather of knowledge and explained in clear english. I think I've watched almost everything you have relevant to the 1hz..... I'm currently fitting just a factory turbo kit to a 96 landcruiser ute, has a CT26 turbo & top mount cooler. I knotice there's a kit available to hook up to coolant lines, they are currently blanked off..... is that worth having hooked up instead of blanked off.
Just blew my 2.8 4runner up, going into water without a snorkle, but im gonna be swithing the engine, and rebuilding that one on the side hopefully, and just takin it easy now hahah no more dirty holes for my car
man. ive seen guys but 44-60mm turbos and a bigger injection pump (7-11mm pumps) on a stock engine. they hadd 0 issues with the engine. just some clutch, trans and diff problems
I’m going to add a turbo to my 1996 LN106 2.8 3L. I’ve had to for almost three years, I’ve had a diesel mechanic rebuild my fuel pump and recond injectors. I service my engine every 5k with Penrite oil and Terrain Tamer filters , I do my fuel filter every 10k. How do you define a engine as “in good condition for a turbo”? Also can you recommend best brands of aftermarket turbos for a 3L? Cheers
I thought running rich, has a cooling effect, while also allowing the engine to use all the oxygen being forced in by the turbo, or compound-turbos. And as long as I'm not so rich, that I'm creating soot, and rolling coal everywhere, I'd be ok. I didn't know too much fuel, creates a lot of heat. I thought running too lean does that, like the blue flame of a blow-torch. And I'm thinking about turbocharging a little single or twin cylinder commercial diesel engine, so I can have a turbo-diesel motorcycle. I'm so confused by what you said about over-fueling. Is it because I'm thinking about rich gasoline engines, or what do you mean?
I have a 1hz that has been rebuilt 200,000kms ago. I would like to install a 1hdt turbo, just wondering what psi would you recommend to set the boost at?
I been wanting to turbo my non turbo 2l....i have a bigger radiator, clutch fan and shround perfectly working. Added an electric fan for the ac as the van didnt come with a fan for ac. Can i add a ct20 on my non turbo 2l and turn the fuel screw up with a front mount intercooler? Or would i need the boost compensator? My non turbo 2l black smokes like a bitch
G'day mate. Ah its a hard one as we just stick to things here... not sure where you are, but enjoy what we post and always ask LOTS of questions of your mechanic. Great info Andrew. Have a BT 50 3.2l and sometimes going up long hills in 4th or 5th gear auto the engine looses power then picks up again 3 or 4 seconds later. Mazda can't find the problem. Have been towing a camper at these times. It has dual fuel filters on it and serviced at 10 k intervals. Any clues? cheers Jon
Hey mate. I'm in germany and looking at getting a MAN 8.136 FAE 4X4 (copied it so it's big and bold.) I was wondering g if it was possible to turbo one safely.
Its amazing all I hear is gearbox issues and engine failures around aftermarket turbo charging. We must be doing something wrong as we dont have these issues ;-) haha . Summary.... set correctly all good mate.
r151 are strong as, very simular to a r154 which came factory behind 1j and 2jz engines. Highly recommended box from the cartune company here in NZ who put them behind 1 and 3uz conversions.
471xxxkm 3l ln106r. Previous owners didn’t look after the rig. Bought it a year ago and rebuilt it, would it be turbo safe? And which kit do you recommend?
Devon I don’t work for berrima but I have been a mechanic for over 20 years now and have a 1hz with a turbo fitted which I have put over 200k on myself the vehicle now has about 580k and I’m sure there is 1hz with turbos fitted with a lot more km then mine
Devon mate you can have your opinion that’s fine but don’t push it onto others just like churchy fucks. I have a 60 series petrol and I just had it completely rebuilt and not a chance I would ever want to get rid of it for a new car.
@Leigh Jessup TD04 turbos off Subaru’s are the most popular and preferred choice. I have a turbo off a RD28 patrol on my ln106 and it generates more than enough power for my needs
Hey Mate, do you know anyone who is the NZ equivalent to a workshop with you're knowledge and experience? Looking at putting a holset or garret on a 3L.
