Ever think about how many billions of canter transitions that Olympian Isabell Werth has done in her life? Me either but, I am sure if there is someone that if there is anyone that we should take a lesson from on how to ride the perfect canter transition on a dressage horse it is dressage legend Isabell Werth.
In this Isabell Werth Masterclass we take a look a developing young horse in dressage and she works with the dressage rider to develop balance and harmony within the canter transition, which, as you know is sometimes easier said than done in dressage.

and you love the hyperflexion /behind vertical? and the reins constantly sawing the horse in mouth?

@@vibeskouenborg6842 They did not mention that though, but I'd like to know where you're seeing hyperflexion? This is not meant to come off as defensive or rude, but i'm genuinely curious to hear more about how you're seeing this. Personally I see a horse who's nicely on the vertical, he has quite a few moments in that his nose gets to be a bit more in front - he has lots of opportunities to let his neck fall and to pick it up again, as he wants. Hyperflexion for me is when the nose really is very visibly behind the vertical, if it dips behind a little, but also gets back on the vertical and in front, that should be totally fine. Though I'm curious to hear your take on this.

@@machomustang thank you for being curious :) . everything behind vertical is hyperflexion- because the vertebrae is out of natural shape. A horse is not supposed to be taken in mouth on every step it takes. And not supposed to get neck shaped by reins. For self-balance and self carriage it must walk 'on its own' . When the nose is provoked behind vertical as here, the base of the neck is held down and the thorex will never get into work - therefore self carriage will never appear. When the nose is held behind vertical, the muscles that is supposed to carry the head is out of use- so the horse need to 'make' a stronger neck muscles to do the work- . And the horse cannot by its own muscles bring the nose in front. When the horse is behind vertical, it is kind og stucked there- Forever. Therefore horses are supposed to be in front of vertical ALWAYS. ISES has made research arouT ALL this- so it is very documented. When a horse is ridden in a circle it is supposed to be round in body AND bend in neck. When the horse is hyperflexed it cannot bend in neck- and therefore it cannot get proper round in body either,- this is A HUGE MISTAKE in basic riding. This teaching is a disaster. To be honest. It has absolutely nothing to do with riding and is NOT horsefriendly at all. This is ugly quick fix riding- as Isabell Werth always does. If you want to teach horses what they are supposed to do, and not this pressure abuse, then you give ONE aid at the time, listen to the answer form the horse and then a little break. Here the horse is sawed non stop in mouth- WHAT TO DO to get rid of this? NOTHING will help. Horses go for getting rid of ''noise'' and pressure. Here it is not possible- only this on going sawing. YRK. The noseband also is very tight. When a horse is hyperflexed with tight noseband there is a huge challenge in breathing. Horses will sweat more when they cannot breath properly. The jaw is fixed and many many things goes wrong in the horse body when this is so. All this is something ISES has researched in too. And all these snobbish ''top'' riders don't care about the horse, I feel sick. They only want results.

Nice horse, lots of talent! Great trainer! But not enough expression in how to teach this rider how to give the rein! Stifling the horse!

yup dissociate the neck with false shoulder in to fake a contact in the outside rein. All this talk about using the rein, this is why we so much disengagement of the hind legs in "higher" levels of dressage

Ohhhhh, learning how ride pulling the reins, on an unbalanced, hyperflexed horse, completely falling on the shoulders...with a rider definitely hanging on the reins to find (is she looking for it ?) her own balance... She keeps saying "collect him", does she even know how it truly feels ? I guess not LOL. Well, time to wake up folks, THIS IS NOT PROPER RIDING !
