Boston's treatment of Isiah Thomas served as a benchmark moment for the entire league to take control of their destinies. Players have always known the disparity of Franchise freedoms vs Player freedoms, but the treatment of IT was the nail in the coffin.

frfr made me think about it, kyrie was made a villain because of his sudden departure from the celtics while telling fans he would be back....but when an organization trades a player without telling them beforehand or even DURING the actual trade, nobody calls out the team. Kyrie did the exact same thing that teams do every year to players. Lakers did it just last year with dwight howard who posted something about being back then almsot immediately is traded away with no explanation.

Coming from a fan from Boston and IT, I wish we never made that trade for Kyrie. In hindsight it may have looked great, but I’m gonna be honest I haven’t really been the same fan of the Celtics since he’s been gone 😔 thank you for everything again IT 🐐

I was rooting for Isaiah Thomas the year he got injured in the playoffs. The man was giving all the effort even after what he went through. I have seen a number of small guys play but Isaiah thomas was the best player i have ever seen anywhere near his height. CP3, Iverson, the OG Isaiah Thomas, Kidd, Nate Robinson. They were all small but not like Isaiah. Maybe Nate was the same height but he was not as great as Isaiah (no disrespect to Nate). The man deserves to be known as one of the most skilled and smartest ballers to ever play the game. How many can even say they played in the NBA. Even less can say they did it while being under 6 feet. Even less can say they were under six feet and dropping almost 30 points per game as an all-star.

Dude im from Akron,OH and when the cavs and boston were ballin against each other in the ECF.... I felt for IT.... Was sort of hyped when he got traded to the cavs.... Sad story. He deserved better. Jusy think Boston invested heavily in Marcus Smart... And left IT out to dry... What they did to him should be illegal.

I’m a big believer in the IT Curse, the way they did him was dirty. Its the main reason why The Celtics haven’t won a chip nor will they. Danny just resigned, Brad is getting promoted but that won’t stop the bad energy they created for themselves.

2 lessons to be learned from all of this. #1 trust your own self and body. No matter what anyone tells you, your body has sensors and it tells you when something is wrong. It doesn't go back to normal until it is healed. I don't care how many degrees a doctor has. If my body says something is wrong, I'm going with that PERIOD. #2 Get a second and even third opinion. Don't let yourself be fooled by one doctor. You should always see multiple doctors to get the right diagnosis especially when it's a major y injury.

What's crazy is theoretically, even if they DID keep him and he never lived up to his former self, Boston would STILL have been better suited without Kyrie and with the 8th pick (Nets Pick) that turned out to be Collin Sexton, a player that would be PERFECT for them now. Even more so I was a HUGE IT bandwagon for the most part. I had always been a Celtics fan but during the rebuild watching them just wasn't fun. When he came he completely changed the culture of that team! When my friend told me we were trading for Kyrie (my favorite player at the time) I was still like, "But why? IT is doing what Kyrie is doing but HERE. Plus IT actually WANTS to be here! Kyrie probably doesn't!" Look how it all went down... Smh

I know I am hella late, but it really pissed me off when he quoted Brad Stevens. "You're obviously our best player, but for this team it'd be better for you to come off the bench." That's not how you win games. Terrible coaching decision and only looks good cause injuries forced his hand.

Now look! Thinking he was just some dumb athlete who would never figure it out, he comes back year's later and exposed dirty rotten business that Ainge does behind closed doors! Dude so humble and greatful for an opportunity that he actually let's the whole Boston Celtics organization off pretty easy. I'm Knowing from this segment not one NBA player will be trusting the Boston Celtics organization at all, ever again!

What happened to I.T is probably why KD decided to do his own thing than to stay loyal. At the end of the day, it’s a business and no loyalty. Make your money and do you. That goes for a regular job. If you get a better offer, take it and leave. You don’t owe anyone a two weeks notice. Does a job give you a two week notice when they’re letting you go? Exactly

The way Danny Ainge runs the Celtics is very different from how Red Auerbach. Larry Bird did an interview with Bill Simmons a while ago and he talked about in his last few years Ainge asked Red if he was ever going to trade Bird, Mchale, and Parish and Red said No and Ainge said he would have done it if he was in charge. Red stayed loyal to the players that were loyal to the Celtics. If you haven’t noticed with how Ainge runs the Celtics he doesn’t care about loyalty to the player he cares about the value of the player and what he could get from them. He traded away KG and Paul Pierce when he saw they no longer could win a championship and he did the same thing with IT and Kemba most recently and I guarantee if he’s still in charge when the time comes he’ll do the same with Brown and Tatum.

And yet still, to this day, the media tries to criticize and paint it as a negative when players want their own doctors, or want their own 2nd opinions. But people destroyed Kawhi for a year, I hope more players learn from this unfortunate story.
