Brunson would have been better off striking with Israel like he did with Anderson Silva. When he tried wrestling Israel that frantically not only did he get himself tired but he also showed that Israel could out wrestle him which gave Israel all the confidence in the world.
@Will Y I agree but I also don't think Romero is as good of a striker as Israel but his strategy was much better. As a wrestler that knows how to box I feel panic wrestling against a boxer will get you knocked out quickly if they have good take down defense.

Izzy, robert, jacare and romero. Brunson determines whether your top5 material or top 10. Edmen is young he can comeback easily. Imo if he wants to be as good as possible he should fight as often as possible, hes only 22 so he has alot time for improvements.

Plus I think edmen thought he could beat brunson in 1 round like izzy did but izzy fought a much more explosive brunson and had far less trouble countering derek whilst edmen fought a more patient derek that forced him to engage more, wasting his gas tank even more. Edmen is only 22, he should fight as much as possible imo since not only is he a fun fighter to watch but also still young and has much time to learn new things for his career in his 30s. There’s a reason Izzy admitted he didn’t want to come to the ufc until he was ready. 21 is too young in this era with how much fighting has evolved. It doesn’t matter how much of a prodigy you are. Someone is going to have the experience and skill set to survive your early onslaught and take you where you’ve never been. It’s starting to look like Jons youngest champion record is going to be harder and harder to beat the more mma evolves.
@@xSmokeoutxSlawthx I agree with the fact that jones record is probs never getting surpassed because for a 23 year old he was actually quite a good mixed martial artist who didnt specialize in one thing and was basically good in everything(except maybe his boxing not being too good). Shahbazian is great striker and a good ground fighter too. Though he is stillz better on the feet. To be the next jones, you gotta either legit be a God at what you specialize in or be great at everything. Also I think he lacked cardio training since I think he thought he could finish derek in the first round like izzy or robert did. Thing is, that brunson was completly different from the one edmen fought. Also like you said, mma fighters are becoming more and more tough as the years pass. I mean if we look at Jon's last fights, he isnt finishing the guys as often and is in fact getting into alot of controversial decision. It's either he is getting old which I dont think is the case since he is nowhere near retirement age or like you said the competition is getting stiffer and tougher. I'm leaning towards the latter. Well he does tbh, that was like the first time Brunson tried to trashtalk somebody. It didn't have anything to do with the fight tho Adesanya is just the better fighter
The interesting thing about Adesanya and the way he fights is, while you can go and cry about how he runs away in his fights, it's very obvious that isn't what's happening. The way he fights is very scrappy, and elusive, yes, but he fights in a way that makes his opponent NEED to step into "Izzy's world". He traps his opponents in a place where they either walk right into Adesanyas comfort zone, or they lose. Biggest example is the Joel Romero fight. Joel didn't want to stand and fight, but that was the only option Adesanya left him, and so Joel kept either pointlessly going for takedowns, or running away from Adesanyas striking. To be clear, I'm a wrestler, and by far prefer Joel's fighting style, I just gotta admit that Adesanya is a fascinating and talented fighter, who is able to force other fighters to play into his hand.
