I believe we should call for a referendum. The most rightful thing is a referendum made by true original land owners (Palestineans, including native Palestinean jews) and they decide the state they want. Simple. Very simple. It's not a thousands of years matter. Otherwise, the immigrants who stole the land should go back to where they came from.

Is a united secular state too much to ask for? Nobody wants to force the jews to leave, nobody wants a muslim supremacy (Hamas gains support because it contrasts itself with the corrupt PLO, and since military resistance is popular, their support soars during times of conflict). Is it too much to ask for a democratic state that won't see a difference between a jew and an arab? As a socialist, I wish to unite both people and shift the struggle from an ethnic/religious conflict to a class conflict, not jews vs arabs, but workers vs the bourgeoisie. It would be a joyous day when the working classes of both nations throw out their shackles to cooperate and found a just socialist society.

This video is very helpful for an easy introduction, but how could you not mention the Nakba? You say how they destroyed hundreds of Palestinian towns but not the thousands of people they massacred in the process? It wasn't just "fighting" as you say, it was an act of ethnic cleansing. And it is still ongoing. I highly recommend 1948: Creation and Catastrophe in which the settlers themselves describe what they did, alongside Palestinians and scholars on the subject. Other than that, I love JVP's work :)

This video is incredibly biased and in many parts untrue. Israeli Arabs have more rights in Israel than they do in the Gaza strip and Palestinian Authority; they can vote, pray, and have their own media any way they want (and they do) and still remain citizens. Israel voted for peace with 3 prime ministers, Barak, Peres and Rabin, and gave up the Gaza strip and 1/3rd of the West Bank and only got violence in return for their "peace agreement"; when the Palestinians stop attacking and inciting violence against Israel they will get a state.....with Israels help....just like Israel gave the PA Gaza and a huge greenhouse and food processing businesses there (which Hamas destroyed) so they would get in the West Bank, if they kept their promises in the Oslo and Wye agreements.

Israeli Arabs and Israeli Jews do have the same liscense plates and water allocations etc. The Palestinian Authority has control over 70% of the Palestinians in the WestBank and Hamas is in control of the whole Gaza strip....they both get funding from Europe and middle east countries, (the PA even gets funding from the US and Canada) you should ask them what they are doing with that money.

Are you aware of the fact that only in the case of the Palestinians the refugee status is inheritable? Only in Palestine, there were originally 650.000 refugees and now more than 6 millions... All other peoples who became refugees in the history of the world took their destiny into their own hands and built new lives in their new place, including the Jewish people.

Despite being presented as fact, there are many inaccuracies in this version of the foundation of the state of Israel. Inaccuracies which, of course, pose a pro-Palestine position. Please, I challenge you to post a more accurate, and historically correct version, and let's see how well this works for your campaign. I am in support neither side, but prefer that if you are going to attempt to gain support for a cause, that it is done using historically valid fact.

inaccuracy ? this would only be relevant if the indigenous people had accepted those borders in the first place… but as stated in the video, they rejected the UN Partition Plan (0:50)… « we will recognize your full rights only if you accept that we dispossess you of most of your land » is not quite a fair deal, is it ? no self-respecting people would have agreed to such a biased and manipulative proposal…

How can this video be called 'accurate'? It is far from it! One example: trying to accuse Israel of conquering Judea and Samaria in 1967? Really? This is simply not right. Actually a coordinated attack against Israel's existence was mounted by surrounding Arab nations at this time. Why does this video fail to give this vital detail? Maybe because it is NOT accurate, and is in fact biased! Before this point there were no settlements in what you call the West Bank, although there were indigenous Jewish communities that had always been here for the last 3000 years. Israel pleaded with Jordan not to join the hostile alliance that was forming to attack, but Jordan decided it wanted to join the attack as well, confident that the united Arab forces would be victorious. Peace in that area could have been maintained if Jordan had simply not been willing to join in the hostility. What was Israel meant to do? Roll over and die? Let themselves be slaughtered by the Arabs? Israel would never have needed to take control of that strategically vital area of Judea and Samaria if Jordan (who was in control of it before, at a time when a state of Palestine could have easily been achieved but wasn't) had stayed out of the conflict. Jordan and the other nations lost a fight they started and in the process, Israel took control of land that it has held onto till this day to PREVENT a repeat of the same scenario. Israel would be foolish to hand it back over until a guaranteed peace can be achieved.

Some facts in this video are wrong, and probably based on some kind of an attempt to look neutral. For example, not many people lived in Israel. Jews who did live in Arab cities lived while hiding their identity as Jews, until more Jews returned to Israel (From mid East or Russia, not Europe) and they decided to regroup and re-settle away from those cities that were dense and poor. The map showing in the beginning is very inaccurate, that it's purpose it to show how some nation randomly decided to steal land. To pull this kind of a genius trick, you have to be a mastermind surrounded by other masterminds. Before the world wars, Jews lived well in Europe as the loyal citizens of the countries they have been, they would fight for their countries. Long story short: They had no reason to leave Europe. But they still did, and moved into the land of Zion (Zion = Jerusalem) joining their brothers who were lucky enough not to be exiled. This move started way before World War 2 or World War 1, and the prays for returned were prayed for over 2000 years ago, when the Jews lost their second temple.

"Millions more" because they were forced to remain as such, they an their descendants and ar the only refugees to remain refugees in the world!...even having a special arm of the UN set uo to "support" them! Israel's refugees were integrated nto the land immediately (and yes, there were problems- a whole other issue)

This is a deliberately misleading video. For one, it does not even mention Jews that were expelled from Arab countries. Another food for thought - in Hannah Arendt's "Eichmann in Jerusalem" which was published in 1964 she uses the term "Palestinian" to refer to Zionists. This means only one thing - what we know today as the Palestinian nation was invented after 1964.

- While the name of this organization is "Jewish Voices for Peace," it is not interested in confronting the human rights violations, violence, or war in the rest of the Middle East. The disingenuous name represents the organization well. - 4/5th of "Historic Palestine" belongs to the Arabs, the nation of Jordan. - Millions of Jewish refugees who fled to Israel were expelled from Arab and Moslem nations, places in which they had lived before the Moslem conquest. - Peace has been offered to the Arabs/Palestinians many times over 80 years by the British, the UN and Israel and the Arabs/Palestinians always refused.

The animated introduction omits one very important fact: Between passage of the UN Partition Plan on Nov. 29/47 and the declaration of the state of Israel on 15 May 1948, Jewish forces had already dispossessed and expelled over 400,000 Palestinians, e.g., 60,000 from Haifa in late April '48; 75,000 from Jaffa in late April and early May and 60,000 from West Jerusalem in March and early May '48. Although reluctant to do so, accelerating expulsion of Palestinians forced outnumbered/outgunned Arab state armies to intervene in Palestine on April 15.

What's frustrating is that ignorant westerners don't realize the conflict in the Middle East is between two brothers, the Arabs/Muslims and Jews. While Jews have a sliver of land, Arabs occupy all the rest of the Middle East. And the radical islamic ones are hellbent on Israel's annihilation, because as the only true democracy in the Middle East that values human rights and liberty, they stand in the way of radical Islam/sharia law ruling, which is why they call for global jihad to subjugate the whole world to their religion.

Did I miss something or did you not mention that Jordan was occupying the Westbank and East Jerusalem for 20 years (1948-1967) and didn't allow any jew to visit the Wailing Wall? You didn't mention that Palestinians are Arabs and you are morally condemning that Israel won't accept refugees while not mentioning that the countries they belong to, ie Jordan, won't accept their own people. Their is no historical Palestine, neither. It was made up in 20th century, Jews lived in Israel for 3.000 years.

not factually correct. Was good until 2 minutes in then started getting a bit cloudy then way over board. Israel didn't keep on stealing more land. Gaza just kept getting denser. Thanks for rewriting the history books...

Of course this video ignores all the various partition plans from the 1920s until 1947, which provided Arabs the majority of the land. It also ignores the Mandate for Palestine, which was only part of a large mandate system for the Middle East, after the fall of the Ottoman Empire after WWI, long before 1947, which defined Palestine as the Jewish homeland. The Mandate for Mesopotamia gave birth to Iraq's arbitrary borders, the French Mandate gave arbitary borders for the creation of Lebanon and Syria, etc. But of course, this video has no questions regarding those borders and the subsequent wars/invasions among Arab countries due to the Mandates. Nope, this video, based on its quest for "peace" (LOL) only questions the Israel borders and assumes history began in 1947-8.

Very biased and inaccurate view of real history. There is no such thing as “historic Palestine”. Palestine is not even an Arab word, it was a Greek word the Romans used to name the region after the Bar Kochva rebellion against the colonist Romans, in order to humiliate Jews. It was always Judea and will always remain Judea.

WHat this entire video fails to recognize is the fact that the U.S. for example, because it was attacked by both Germany and Japan, would have been well within it's right to claim whatever territories of those nation(s) which were fighting against it as it so desired, and even still, gave back sovereignty to both nations after the war was over, because they made sure they got the message and learned not to attack a sovereign nation -- unprovoked -- such as the U.S., and they made sure of this. Israel also conceded much of it's land to the Arabs in an effort to make a deal and a compromise for peace, and it was roundly rejected. Within a few days of the June 10, 1967 cease-fire, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Abba Eban, made his famous speech offering to negotiate the return of captured territories in exchange for three Arab concessions: diplomatic recognition of Israel; negotiations to decide on universally recognized borders and on other outstanding issues; and peace. World opinion was amazed that the victor was offering to negotiate with the vanquished and was willing to make substantial concessions (return of territories) in exchange for symbolic and diplomatic ones (recognition, negotiations, peace agreements). To formulate a response to this unexpected new reality, the Arab states called a summit meeting in Khartoum (capitol of Sudan) in August, 1967. The result was the now infamous three Khartoum NOs: no recognition, no negotiations, no peace. Okay what you fail to recognize is that you’re making a lot of assumptions and rules up on your own. Just because one nation attacks another, does not give the attacked nation the right to take over that other nation’s entire land. You seem to have just made that up as a rule, when this is not accepted in international law in any way. Second of all, you’re acting as if Palestine is to blame for not accepting the proposed partition of land divided between Israel and Palestine, when it was all Palestinian land to begin with. Imagine if some other nation attacked the US, took over half of it, and then asked us to accept peace and recognize that land as theirs. That makes literally no sense.

It is both their sword and shield. If you can simply dismiss someone as a racist, you don't have to contend with what they are saying. A Jewish scholar named Norman Finklestein wrote two books about this. One was about how it is used daily in Israeli/American politics to dismiss legitimate criticisms of Israel, and the other was about how Zionism used latent guilt of Western nations from the holocaust to help create a Jewish state. He himself is referred to as a "self-hating Jew" because of his lifelong fight against Zionism.

There are a bunch of historical facts left out. For one, Arabs rejected the partition plan for Palestine, and rejected any kind of partition. They didn't even wanted to negotiate any further. And as far as I have been able to read, most acts of violence in the area was started by Arabs. The Civil War from 1947 to 1948, the Arab-Israeli War, the Yom Kippur War, the First Palestinian Intafada, the Al-Aqsa Intafada, and the attacks from Hamas and Hezbollah. Hamas btw is calling for the complete annihilation of Israel. While Hamas indiscrimently fired rockets into Israel, the IDF did their best to only target infrastructure that was used by Hamas. The violence in that area of the world, almost always came from the Arabs not the Israeli's. Even in the Six-Day War Egyptian forces amassed in the Sinai peninsula, while Israel did preemptively strike Egypt, it probably wouldn't have been long until the Arab countries would have attack Israel again. And from what I understood and heard, Israel is willing to make concession after concession in order for there to be peace, while the Arab World, from the very beginning wasn't.

Your pinning the blame on the arabs even though the Isrealis also did violince. When the jews first moved into the region of Palestine/Isreal they bought lands and kicked off the palestinians and the palestinians rettaliated with violince. If you were Palestine and were being out populated by the day and then the UN comes and tries to make peace but they would take away most of your territoires even though the arabs were about 2 thirds of the population which was another reason why the arabs rejected the peace talks. The other arab states wanted the jews out as they saw isreal as a european creation and was apart of colonialism and imperialism. Most palestinians were subjecated by the Isrealis and some resorted to terrorising the Isrealis to force them out of Palestine. I could be wrong in many ways but the fact that the isrealis also have to atone for the violence they also had done to the palestinians. This is why its a heatly debated between both sides.

this may end up happening, de facto. however, this would be the end of the Jewish state, or the end of democracy, one or the other. because the combined state would be Palestinian-majority in a few decades, so it couldn't really be a Jewish state if it were democratic.

Israel must remove the borders, give everyone equal rights despite religious beliefs and declare a new state of Israel and Palestine. No more gaza ghetto and seperation between the people. This is the only way to end this conflict. People have to learn to live with one another.

***** Um actually you're wrong there. Judaism is both a religion and a nationality. A nationality is a group of people, connected either by ideology (USA) or by birth, history, and culture (Germany) that have aspirations of politically ruling and owning a country. Judaism fits all of this. Since it's beginning it has strived to get to Israel. Judaism is connected by birth (you're Jewish if your mom is Jewish), history(the old testament is basically that) and culture (I think this one is pretty obvious). Thus Judaism is a nationality.

The chapter of Deuteronomy mentions the curses the Real/True Israelites will go through. And the curses inside it, don't match the so called "White Jews" & or the historical Jews/Israelites they claim to be. Who of which, Are still cursed today. The Jewish people are very powerful, They own most of the banks, they have good money, they have Israel and a powerful army. Do they seemed cursed to you as a whole ? It wouldn't make sense at all

When you deny, they takeover your home and "let" you live in your backyard. And when you protest, you are deemed violent and anti-peace as you couldve easily prevented the situation by giving up YOUR bedroom and kitchen.

I highly recommend watching the award winning documentary: Roadmap to Apartheid. You can rent it for $3 on youtube. Any person that comes from the western world and values individual freedom and pluralism will see how awful the Israeli government has been acting for the last 50 years. If you consider all humans are equal and deserve the same rights there's no denying that what the Palestinians are going through is one of the biggest human catastrophes of our times. If on the contrary, you think that human rights are different depending on race/nationality/religion/sexual-orientation/economic-class; that is your right, freedom of thought. Keep in mind that just how we learn history now, we learn about the slave trade, we learn about the rise of Hitler, we learn about the Christian crusades, the witch trials... one day we we'll be the ones judged by History. And I'm afraid history won't be kind to us. We'll be Judged by the lack of empathy for human suffering, people will wonder why we turned a blind eye to a widely documented violation of human rights. Liberté, égalité, fraternité... such beautiful ideals and great life motto... millions of westerners have died defending those concepts that have helped shaped our current societies. Those are the values that we are so proud of, the values that our ancestors died defending so we could enjoy. Education can counteract the natural tendency to do the wrong thing, but the inexorable succession of generations requires that the basis of this knowledge be constantly refreshed (Hardin, 1968, The Tragedy of the Commons). As privileged citizens with individual freedom we can choose, to voice our voice in favor of of those principles or not. The choice is ours. Whatever we choose to stand for today as a society, will determine not only how the future sees us but also the future that we leave for our kids. I personally, have no doubt that I will choose to uphold those values across the world and defend the legacy of so many other before me that have made it possible for me to enjoy a life of freedom. Freedom to be the captain of my own life, freedom to love who I want, freedom to travel, freedom to have equal rights under the law, freedom to have my voice heard. The choice is yours and you can do as you please but keep in mind that every choice comes with consequences and what doesn't affect our daily life today might affect us tomorrow.

this clip is full of bias! i will write just one for example: in 1947 the partition plan offered the arabs and the jews 2 states. the jews accepted it but the arabs didnt, so they started a war in order to vanish the jewish population. 5 armies against 1. and the jews won. in 1948-1950, 650,000 jews were expelled from the arab countries -forced to move to israel, no one is talking about that. they are refugees as well. this movie is not a jewish voice. i am sorry

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched an aerial offensive in Gaza on July 8, followed by a ground offensive on July 17. A ceasefire agreement was reached on August 26. The UN has identified 538 children among the 1,563 Palestinian civilians it counted as killed. Palestinian armed groups launched more than 5,000 rockets and mortars into Israel, killing 5 civilians, including 370 rockets before the escalation of fighting on July 8, repeatedly forcing civilians in cities throughout Israel to seek protection in shelters. The rockets launched by armed groups in Gaza cannot be accurately aimed at military objectives and amount to indiscriminate or deliberate attacks on civilians when directed at Israeli population centers, in violation of the laws of war. Why can't we just admit both sides are at fault, and that neither side is completely to blame?

***** The only reason that the killings in Israel are small scale are because of all the drastic security and defense measures that they had to put in to keep it that way. Palestine fired about the same number of rockets as Israel, the only difference is that those rockets were destroyed by the so called "Iron dome". In addition, the leaders have filled their country with hoards of hate, so that a significant percentage of the nation would attempt such attacks, could they get in. I'm not saying that Israel is innocent, far from it, but stop claiming that Palestine is nothing but a victim here.

Attempted murder isn't any better than murder itself in my book Also, I would say that "the idea of the operation" of the Iron Dome system is to prevent as many casualties as possible. After all, isn't the primary point of war to get your enemy to surrender, while keeping your own casualties to a minimum? Once again, I won't deny that Israel is a monster to any non-Jew living within it's boarders, and has not been reluctant to harm civilians in the war, but you aren't freed from all charges for murdering someone if that someone was also a murderer

It is no different than any of the other crusades, only more protracted. As for the time, right now and every day since around the 1920s. The Israeli government has ultimately decided the cost of a few of its citizens blown off the face of the Earth every few years are worth the permanent aquisition of land. Interestingly, you used to be able to see the Israeli bulldozers illegally clearing away Palestinian villages to make their own on google images, but it has since been removed.

There is nothing that would make me happier, after all the centuries of tragedy, to see the people of the Jewish faith have a land of their own where they can live in peace and practice self determination. It is my belief that not anti-semitism, Islamic extremism, nor Palestinian nationhood present the greatest threat to this dream, but instead it is the current practices of the Israeli government. I would offer the same advice to a Palestinian, who in his frustration, sought to fire a rocket in the direction of Israel. Using violence and hatred to achieve their goal is suicidal to their cause. If Isreal rightfully demands self determination and the right to exist, why shouldn't Palestine?

I believe we should call for a referendum. The most rightful thing is a referendum made by true original land owners (Palestineans, including native Palestinean jews) and they decide the state they want. Simple. Very simple. Hmm I'm curious if you still believe this video is a bunch of lies now that 3 years have passed. More information has come out confirming the mistreatment and atrocities committed against Palestinians. Western mass media and especially the US mass media hasn't changed their message much over the years. Fortunately, the internet allows us access to other media sources.

This video starts out at a certain point in time without acknowledging the history before it. Wars have gone back and forth over the centuries. If you look back to the maps of the Roman Empire you will clearly see the area called Judea where the Roman's recognized Harod the Great - King of Judea. If you place a wolf and rabbit together in the same area one will destroy the other much like the way wars have worked over the centuries. War is not fair - plain and simple. People with such strong religious beliefs will never come to a common ground. You could take small children from every country in the world and raise them together in a group to respect and care for each other and never separate their beliefs with different religions and they would end up far better than the world of adults we have today. That being said in this day and age some religions advocate far more violence than others. Historically it does sound like the British promised the area to too many varying groups and then pawned the problem off to the UN, which accomplishes very little as usual.

There are so many blatant lies in this video and lots of important information intentionally left out. You know the story of the younger sibling that constantly hits the older one? Eventually the older one has had enough and hits back. Then the younger one goes crying to his parents, lies and manipulates so that the older one will get into trouble. The younger one acts all innocent and all the blame is put on the older one. Palestinians are the younger sibling that provoke non stop and then manipulate the situation for world sympathy.

This is simply bunch of semi truth, that are worse that lies: 1. The west bank was a Jordanian land, not a Palestinian, Israel win this land in a war, signed a peace agreement with Jordan so they handed this area to Israel. 2. Gaza strip was an Egyptian territory, that been given to Israel at 1982, in the peace agreement, 3. The Palestinian start terrorizing Israel far before the so called occupation, the first terror attack happened in 1954, while the war with Jordan when the west bank conquered happened in 1967. The real problem with the Palestinians is that they are Muslims radicals that try to kill all the infidels this means also the creators of this movie. The Palestinians are Sunni's and the are close to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) that tool over all Syria and Iraq. So think who you whish to support, extreme Islamic nation that wants to kill all infidels or Israel the only true democracy in the middle east.
