Hey Whitney! So the qredew I’ve had one for 5 years and I’d like to think I totally know how to use it now. So I can tell you that the qredew has mineral deposit build up inside if you use it and put it down with the water left inside. What you’re explaining happens to me everytime I haven’t used it in say a month or more. A simple fix is to use distilled water. But to clear the clogged, mineral filled holes, plug is out and use a bobby pinto rod out the mineral build up. Another option is to put vinegar in the water part. Keep pressing the button and it will melt out the deposit build up. I promise you this will help. And after it’s all cleared out just use all distilled water. Hope this helps you or anyone else with a qredew.
I love the Dyson Blow Dryer. I've had it since it first came out, truly love the speed of the dryer. My curls dry quickly and blow drying my hair is effortless. I usually use the dryer right after a wash if im straightening my hair or after styling products when it comes to using the diffuser on my curls. Your hair must be very saturated. On the lightest heat, use a wide tooth comb first, then build up to higher heat while using a paddle brush (smoothes and straightens) as you get closer to your roots, or when your hair starts to blow out. Another tip when using the Dyson is to use the smoothing attachment and not the one for volume (I believe it's the smaller nozzle). When using the diffuser on curls use low heat or cool with a bouncing method (use the highest blow strength its 3 dots). I also use the diffuser after blow drying before flat irons, to make sure my roots are dry. Hope this helps anyone :)
I agree. I was thinking it could have been technique as well. I have a silver bird that works great but gives me heat damage. I like that the dyson also gives me a smooth damage free blowout (though it does take a bit more skill to use)
I’m 2 years late, but I also have to wonder what products were used to prep for blow drying? The shampoo and conditioning of the hair are “super” important when prepping for a blowout. So was it really the dryer that made the hair fell dry? It shouldn’t have, really. Or was it the shampoo and condition method? Just a question.
I hope you guys enjoy today's video! Some popular natural hair tools that I just do noooot like. Have you tried any of these hair tools? What did you think!? Xo! 💗
Naptural85 I'd be interested in a video on products that surprised you -- maybe in a good way. Are there any products that worked way better than you expected them to or surprised you in any other ways (was expensive and worked the same as a drugstore brand?). Also, LOOOOOVE the hair!
Omg I love the q-redew! Maybe you got a faulty one because mines doesn't do any of that. I also only use distilled water. I never tried the hooded one because it didn't look comfortable and you don't have the control you have with the q-redew. I've even used it to steam my face. I love that tool!
Oddly enough, I have owned a hooded steamer for about 2 years. It's not a Huetiful steamer, but all those models look similar. I've used it every wash day for 2 years, and it's never burned my scalp. I've also owned a Q-Redew for over a year and I love it too. My most disliked hair tool is the Denman brush. I've tried modifying it, making sure my hair is wet and saturated with product and the dang thing still snags my hair.
Katherine Miller 😩 I wish I had the same experiences! That tells me that QRedew must have quality control issues bc mine is a HOT MESS!! 🙄🙄😫 But I'm happy yours is working well! I've switched from the denman brush to Felicia Leatherwood Detangler! You should give it a try you may like it better! ❤️❤️
I hate the Denman. It pulls & tugs at my hair and scalp. I much prefer my Tangle Teezer for detangling my hair dry pre-wash and my Wet brush for when my hair comes out the (microfiber) towel. Those brushes are awesome, don't pull or tug! Even better than my wide tooth combs as they even pull & tug.
Oh my gosh, once I had a horrible accident with my heutiful steamer. Usually I put a towel round my neck to avoid the hot splashes from the dome but for some reason I didn’t this time and a drop fell on my neck and it was soooo hot that I naturally jumped lifting the dome up and the whole container of boiling hot water fell on my shoulders. I got burned really badly. The worst pain I’ve ever experienced.
I am the same with eyelashes, especially because I have small, hooded eyes; they are a no go for me. I was wondering about that Dyson dryer; you would think for $400 it would massage your scalp and add 2 inches of growth while you dried your hair! Good to know I can save my coin from that. Thanks for sharing; I know you are crazy busy, but I miss seeing more videos from you!
Now see... here I was over here in my FEELINGS for months about QRedew sending everyone and they mama one BUT ME 🤣🤣 But now I know why... they did NOT want to risk me reviewing it because I probably would have went IN! 🙄😭🤣🤣
Naptural85 thank you for your continued honesty. I can only imagine how awkward it is for you when you are sent things but we really appreciate you looking out for us and our hard earned money💕
I actually loooove my Dyson blow dryer!!! I’m an African American Woman and it dries my hair faster and I’ve used it with and without the diffuser. It actually left my hair shiny and full of body 😃 I think you should give it another try. It did take me 2 uses and going back and watching the live taping on QVC before I got the swing of it 🤷🏽♀️ But I love it! 😀
Thank you so much for being honest. I can’t tell you how many other influencers have said those products are sooo great. Something about what they said made me pause. All of us curly girls spend a ton of money on the next best thing for our hair. We don’t need to waste money on lies. So thank you again for your honesty. BTW love your videos.
Thank uuuu I’ve been thinking about buying both of those steamers!!! You saved my coins and i appreciate it!! Phew i would’ve been heated had i gon through what u went threw. Your opinions are always on point!!!
Serita Veras I actually LOVE IT, my husband got it for me for my birthday last year... its the best for when i am taking down my braids. it loosens up my hair making it easier to comb through. i did a lot of research and they do say it can be a hit or miss. and that can just be manufacturer problems... i do not use it everyday but it def makes combing my haor out easier and takes 30 mins to do my entire head, and ive been told i have a big head and A LOT OF HAIR!
jules7721 thank u i appreciate you telling me this. I’ve been on the fence about it for about a year and I’ve watched other naturals use it. I don’t trust most of them to be honest. I’ve been following Whitney for at least 4 years and she’s always honest.
Honestly, I have a q-redew and it does none of that.. the steam is pretty consistent and comes out easily. Not sure if you got a faulty one or if I got a magically good one...
This is the second bad review of the Dyson hair dryer. The first review had LOADS of comments saying it dried their hair. I've tried this dryer and loved it. What I HATED was the cold shot button, it's the teeniest thing and didn't work for me as my finger hurt pressing it as I use it for most of the drying. I was totally going to buy this then saw the bad reviews and decided to get the Remington Air, which it's cold shot is a trigger. And 83% cheaper! I'm so happy with it. It's diffuser also dries roots quicker, which was the whole reason why l use a hair dryer in the Winter months only. Great review, TY
Zara rayne Aww! Sorry Zara! I mean give it a try! You might like it!! This was just my experience with it but yours could be different! I honestly don't think it's worth $400, even though it's a gorgeous hair tool, but you never know (just make sure you can get a refund if you don't like it) 😩💯❤️❤️
I’m an apprentice stylist in San Francisco and won the Supersonic during a contest. I love it for diffusing. It is the fastest diffusing machine I’ve ever handled. To blow out my own hair, it’s important and I have really good control of each section because it does work quickly, use low heat and wind first to arrange the hair over a metal, vented round brush then use high heat and medium wind to smooth the section. With any high powered blow dryer, I do that on most textures for a professional blowout - it seems to give the best hold and shine. Dryers seem to be getting hotter and hotter and the nozzles more direct and gusty. It’s also great for a quick root stretch. It takes so much time out of a blowout session when used properly at home. In the salon, it’s a lot like other hair dryers. I won’t bring mine to work or class because it’s a personal use tool. If I got the professional with the professional warranty, I would take it to work and class. Will you be trying the Airwrap? - Naimah

I will never ever spend $400 on a blow dryer. Doesn’t make sense to me lol every review I’ve seen, their results look pretty much the same as any regular dryer lol. Never ever gonna be buying that 🙃🙃

I REALLY REALLY ENJOYED THIS VLOG WHITNEY :) Hubby got me the Red Pro steamer for Xmas last year, not gonna lie BURNED ME UP the first time, I opened the vents and that helps A LITTLE. Now what I do is pile my hair on top of my head and position that under the steamer. I DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR THOSE WITH SHORT HAIR. Another thing for those thinking of buying it WEAR A TOWEL WHILE UNDER IT, the steam builds up inside the rim causing to to drip which also BURNS. For storage I just kept the box it came in, I use it once or 2x a month during winter months only.
I'm really glad you made this. I don't think there are enough honest reviews of free products RU-vidrs get because they're free and they feel like they owe the company a favor. And so then customers get ripped off too. Much Love
I love your reviews. You are not afraid to be honest and that is very rare to find on RU-vid. Your opinion can't be "paid off". It is what it is. Good or bad. You ROCK Whitney!!!
My Q-Redew works the charm and it keeps a steady stream of steam. Perhaps you have one of the first models? Make sure your using a distilled water from a reputable company cause not all distilled water is alike.
Sharon Matesun anything but Nestle and store brands. I have used these items in other appliances that require distilled water. My appliances dripped and left a white residue.
THANK YOU SSSOOOOO MUCH, for walking in integrity. What so many you tubers will do for sponsorship! SMH. You are still doing what I believe you tube was originally meant to be. I was considering a steamer. I saw your original review of the Q Redew and wanted one. My coins are extremely limited so I appreciate YOU! Keep being you! Thanks again
never been to this channel but i saw her hair in the thumbnail and immediately clicked like i didn’t even know what the video was about but THIS HAIR 😍😍😍

I can’t imagine my life without my Q-Redew lol. My hair is 100000% better since using it, my hair is 1000000000% more moisturized! If you have hard water it will be difficult lol. It literally states it on the instructions, use distilled water. It’s so much better than a hooded steamer because you can control where the steam goes, so no burned scalps :) sad that you don’t like it!
Thanks so much for sharing! I literally felt I was missing out big time on these specific products because they seemed to be working very well for the other bloggers. But I have followed and trusted Your RU-vid since I started my transitioning journey like 5 yrs ago. So ill just say I trust you and feel you've never led me astray so...I feel like you are not going to be bought by the gifts from these companies and that you are Honest which we both know we cannot say that about a lot of other vloggers. So thank you for your loyalty, I appreciate you so much!
OMG!! Sooo I’m totally NOT going crazy! Was sooo super excited for this blow dryer! I am a professional hair stylist and seen so many great reviews! I just received the blow dryer today and you explained it EXACTLY the way I feel about it! It left my clients hair sooo dry and weird feeling! And had it been $15 exactly I wound have say hey, no prob! B/c once I straightened the hair it was actually fine! But for $400 bucks!?!?!?!? Noooooo Waugh 😩😣 sooo disappointed! I thought maybe I was just being a bit hard on it or going crazy lol! Watching your video.... CONFIRMED.... I do not like it... sadly! Thanks for your honest review!!!
I love my Qredew! Sounds like you got a lemon. I’ve had mine for a few years and it still works just fine. I’ve never had the issues with it that you mentioned. It has always warmed up within a few seconds and the stream of steam is always consistent. They should send you a new one so you can try it again. I mainly use it to detangle and stretch my hair. It has saved me a lot of breakage because it melts away tangles, knots and matted hair. I don’t use it every detangling session, but if you’re like me, unfortunately when I get depressed and stressed I don’t have the energy to deal with my hair. So during those times, the qredew has been a life saver!
I need more videos from you right after you can't get your lashes on because TELL UM WHY YOU MAD WHIT!! TELL UM WHY YOU MAD!!! LOL!!! Free up and tell us the truth. Personally I have never used any of these tools ... hey all seemed extraneous so there's that. BTW, girl you are like thiiiiiiiis close to 1 milli subs! HOW FRICKEN EXCITING!!!! :D
I LOVE the RawWhit vibe of this video. Also, despite this being a “issano for me” video, the delivery was informative and helpful. I appreciate the non-ranting format. Thanks for being unafraid to share that you didn’t catch a seat on certain bandwagons-it’s rarely shared.
I really appreciate this video! I don't buy anything that most natural hair you tubers promote because I'm happy with my homemade products and techniques I've learned from you! I was really close to buying the que-redo (sp?) Because I saw some girls doing blow outs with it, which is something I've never done due to my no heat hair journey. Thank you for enlightening us!
Whitney Chapin The Q-Redew works great for heatless blowouts! Whitney said it was sent to her years ago, so maybe there were kinks in the beginning. Mine has given me no trouble at all.
I thought I wanted the hand held steamer...not now😊. Too much to spend and it not work!. Thank you!!! Hair looks good!!! And when you conquer the eyelashes...show me😱😱
Nancy purter I think she had a faulty QRedew. I own one for almost 3 years and I use it every weekend. So sorry it didn’t work for Whitney though because it changed my hair (made it so manageable). But yeah it’s pricey (but again it was a great investment for me.) and I have to be careful when the steam dispenses because u can get ‘sting’ from the steam.
I agree, it sounds like a faulty one. Also, they suggest using distilled water because if you use tap water (which contains minerals) may clog the little nozzles where the steam comes out. If that does happen, you can use vinegar to clean it. I’ve had mine for over a year with no problems.
I got a faulty one too. It was spewing hot drops of water on my face. NOT ok. Sent it back and got a new one and i love it. Its great for deep conditioning
I got mine for Christmas and am starting to have the issues Whitney is describing so it seems faulty ones are fairly normal. Since I already own it might be worthwhile to reach out to the company or do the vinegar clean someone else mentioned but if I had known might’ve bought something else. When it was working it actually does an amazing job when you’re deep conditioning
We stan an honest RU-vidr!!!!! Everyone uses that whack blow dryer on curls as if we don’t know that trick. I’ve yet to see anyone slay a blow out or straight hair routine using that thing.
Naptural85 yay! I just watched one of your old ones and it was really great! It would be awesome to get an update tho if anything has changed! Trimming my hair is the one thing I’ve been neglecting lol thank u for replying! 💗
I am a hair stylist and a few of the girls at work have the Dyson and I've used theirs, I didn't like it either. I have a Varis it's larger but it's light and dries the hair in a timely manner. I expected to be blown away somehow being that the Dyson dryer is so expensive but I was not. Also the cord is extremely short, I can't work with no short cord! I'm good on that one. If you buy it, you're paying for the name.
Thank you for your honest review on the dyson hair dryer... My experience was disappointing as well. To spend $400 on a blow dryer and have it fall apart every time you’re using it is very upsetting! The filter keeps sliding off and there is no way to tighten it! Quite frustrating!…Don’t get me wrong. I am a true dyson fan. I own 3 fans and 2 vacuum cleaners which I totally love ❤️. Another complaint I have is the customer service. You cannot get anyone on the phone. I purchased 2 items last year and had to return it, which I did and to date have not gotten my money back! I’ve finally gotten an email last month that they received the items, still no refund yet!!! I am so disappointed in dyson at this point. I’m so so over trying to contact them. Anyway girl... love you! Keeps doing what you do!
I gave up on eye lashes decades ago. BUT if anybody can make a how-to video? IT'S YOU!!!! I have faith...one day you'll have me in false eye lashes. And I completely agree on both hair steamers. That light green one needs a class action lawsuit. I swear mine worked 3 times period -- and it only worked well the first time
I think a $400 blow dryer deserves to have a proper review. If you don't like it doesn't mean that everybody else won't like it but it's important that people share their experiences so either company can make changes people think that a negative review or a bad review is the end of the world but it's not. It's an opportunity for growth so I'm glad you finally did do it also $400.
I have to say I like seeing you struggle for once. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I like to see you suffer or I want to see you fail or anything like that, it's just that I see you excel in so many aspects of your life from the videos you post. This one shows some frustration with hair & beauty, that's getting on my level. 😂 Also diggin' that hair. 👍
I’m so appreciative of you for being honest! I was thinking about getting one of those hair steamers and had changed my mind, and now I know I made the right decision!
You were one of the first natural hair You Tubers that I followed when I went natural years ago and this video is why I’m still here! Thank you always for your class and honesty. I have the Dyson and I always use it for wash and gos when I want my curls to pop. I put a lot of moisturizer and gel to keep the curls from tangling. My hair is so dense that air drying is hopeless when I put gel in it, so the Dyson is perfect for drying with heavy product in your hair. Never tried a blow out though...too scared!
Hi Whitney. I have the Dyson blow dryer. I bought the extra wide comb attachment. It works much better than the other attachments. The other attachments are useless. On my 4C hair. I would love to see and hear your opinion on the Dyson hair dryer using the Dyson comb attachment which you can get on the Dyson website. Perhaps you can call them and ask fir that extra part and to resend the hair dryer. Also, when I dry my hair, I section it in small sections using the low heat. I wait until my hair is patricianly dry before using the Dyson.
Thank you for keeping it real on those reviews. I'm sure a lot of RU-vidrs didn't like those products but they just wanted to get paid. And I don't blame them but I like that you don't like misleading your followers.
My quredew doesn't work either just sitting on the shelf for about two to three years I bought that Dyson blow dryer to i still have it although I don't really like it I'm happy that you did this honest reviews it saves people like me from buying bad product and the Hassel of returning items :)
you hair looks amazing here!! i big chopped last week and have come to realize that we have really similar hair textures. i'm gonna go check out some of your old school twa vidoes for tips. thanks in advance!!
