I'm just gonna sum up what she says. 1. Moisturize your hair. Water, natural oils, butters, etc are good. Dry hair is an invitation to breakage so avoid it. 2. Trim when it's absolutely necessary. Helps remove split ends and single strand knots (which are common in curly hair) Over trimming doesn't always help. Your hair will grow nice and even but you will see little growth, especially when your cutting off more than you're growing. 3. Don't over-shampoo. Co-washing is a good alternative to washing your hair. Shampoo strips the natural oils of your hair which you want in your hair. It's good to clean your scalp of dirt but don't over do it. Also try to incorporate co-washing 4. Low manipulation styling. Your hair is fragile. Be careful with braids, twists, and ponytails. (Braids pulled out my hair in the middle and I don't think it'll grow back so BE CAREFUL) Too tight is too bad. 5. Protective styling. Very important to give your hair a break. 6. Don't do your hair when you're stressed out, mad. You'll be more impatient and rough on your hair and like number 4, too rough is too bad. 7. Be mindful of your hair accessories. Somethings will definitely rip out your hair if secured wrong (bows and clips) Ponytail holders could rip out your hair, especially ones with metal. 8. Avoid combs and brushes when possible. Finger detangling is the best option, but when used a wide toothed comb and Denman brush are recommended. 9. You are what you eat. Eat healthy and drink a lot of water. Protein especially 10. Be patient. It's not a race. It's a marathon. Ignore your hair length and after a while you'll see the growth. *UPDATE: The spot where my hair fell out has kinda grown back. It took a full year to grow back and it still isn't even an inch yet. If you'd like an update on how I handled it please let me know.

Keys to growing Long Hair: 1. Moisturize 2. Trim only when necessary 3. Do Not overshampoo 4. Low manipulaton styling 5. Protective styling 6. Do not do your hair when you are stressed out and emotional 7. Be mindful of the accessories you put into your hair 8. Avoid brushes and combs when possible (finger detangle) 9. You are what you so eat healthy, lots of protein 10. Its not a race its a marathon, be patient :o)

In quarantine watching throw backs of Naptural85🥰...this was actually the very 1st natural hair youtube video I ever watched as I was planning to do my big chop...that was in Dec 2013, 6 yrs later im still natural and still feeling like it was one of the best choices I ever made for myself. Naptural85 was such an inspiration to me! Always appreciated her hair tips!

I started to get bored with my hair and straightened it recklessly. I almost had heat damage. Lucky it sprang back after some treatments. The pressure to straighten at my job is just terrible, and it's mainly from my dad! But I had to stop, I had to snap out of it and remember the goal. Healthy long natural hair for once in my life, and the joy of my journey!

Yes. Pressure and/or negative comments from individuals will definitely sour your natural hair journey. Especially if it's people that are close to you and those are the ones you were hoping would understand, but it doesn't necessarily happen that way all the time. Just keep remembering that natural hair is healthy hair, especially if you nurture it like you're supposed to!! Keep doing you boo.

+claris17gemini I used to work at Hooters. I'm biracial. One of the rules there basically is that black girls have to have have relaxed or heat treated hair to come to work. It sucked. And it wrecked my hair. So, I quit after like five days.

I never knew there was so much going on about natural hair, no kidding. I've had my hair cut short for a very long time. I tried going natural three years ago, but I got discouraged and cut it back to my short style, but I just earlier this year decided to grow it again, and now I'm seeing all this, I'm really excited to try something new. Thanks loads to you and all the other ladies out there. I loved you video you did with Carols Daughter products. Awesome

Girl...I just love your videos! Your tips are GREAT!!!! I've been natural for about 7/8 years....and had locs for 5! They were almost waist length, and my daughter the cosmetologist cut about 10 inches (which still left me with almost mid back hair!) and then she took the out! ...took about 2 months! I now have armpit (or thereabouts!) length natural hair. So, I'm trying to be kind to it and grow it! I think all your tips are on point and one that you said in another one of your videos and that was to be happy with YOUR hair...and after all these years, I finally getting there! It's crazy curly/nappy/wild/big...and I LOVE IT!!!! I find myself letting just have its own way more and more (yes, I have been told the I resemble Huey from Boondocks! lol!)So thanks and keep these wonderful videos coming! XO C~

She's right, literally. Although, I've gone a year without protective styles.. I wear my hair in a banana scarf every single day (I don't wear it out much apart from selfies!) I think.. If you just keep it moist, tangled free, loose and left alone (no playing with it!) it grows fine :)

I'm half white, half black and the military. Let me tell you, it is SO hard to grow my hair out because of how tight we have to keep our hair back. It breaks my heart everyday to slip it back and use all these hardening jels to keep it in place. I am so desperate for beautiful natural hair but I feel the only way is by getting out of the military :/

Hey, I'm a new fan. I've been getting relaxers since I was 10. I'm 20 now and have just decided to start keeping my hair healthy, since these chemicals and continuous damage are really getting tiring to deal with. I was wondering if you knew anything about Wen? It's supposed to be a shampoo/conditioner that keeps your hair healthy and it's also supposed be good for all hair types. But the thing is I haven't seen a lot of black people do review videos. Have you heard of it? I was thinking I might start trying it if enough black people told me it worked on their hair type. lol. Also, have you heard anything about mane and tail? I hear that's good too. I just don't know where to start because I have never had to take care of my natural curls.

10. BE PATIENT IT IS A MARATHON NOT SPRINT. STOP PAYING SO MUCH ATTENTION TO IT AND ONE DAY YOU WILL WAKE UP AND SAY WHERE DID ALL THIS HAIR COME FROM! LOL 9.EAT HEALTHY! YOUR HAIR IS PROTEIN MAKE SURE TO EAT ENOUGH AND FRUITS, VEGGIES AND A LOTS OF WATER! 8. AVOID BRUSHES AND COMBS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AND FINGER DE-TANGLE! USE WIDE TEETH COMBS AND PLASTIC BRUSHES SHE REMOVED ROWS IN THE BRUSH TOO! 7. DON'T TRIM IF YOU REALLY DON'T HAVE TO YOU MAY BE CUTTING YOUR LENGTH AND SHOULDN'T. WAIT FOR KNOTS OR SPLIT ENDS! 6. DON' T PULL YOUR HAIR IF IT IS NOT LONG YET USE BOBBIE PINS TO PUT IT UP IN LOSE PONY TAILS. BE MINDFUL OF HAIR ACCESSORIES, METAL CAN RIP YOUR HAIR OUT, BE GENTLE. SHE WEARS HER HAIR OUT A LOT. AND WHEN IT IS LONG ENOUGH ONLY LOSE PONY TAILS IS THE RULE NO PULLING OUR HAIR IS FRAGILE. LOW MANIPULATION STYLING. DON'T SLICK IT BACK TIGHT, WHAT EVER STYLE YOU DO BE GENTLE! IT CAN DAMAGE FOLLICLES AND YOUR HAIR MAY NOT GROW BACK 5. DON'T DO YOUR HAIR WHEN YOUR MAD OR ANXIOUS YOU WILL BE ROUGH AND IMPATIENT PULLING OUT MORE THAN YOU SHOULD, WAIT UNTIL YOUR RELAXED AND HAVE THE TIME! 4 PROTECTIVE STYLING IS IMPORTANT IT HELPS TO RETAIN LENGTH AND IT GIVES YOUR HAIR A BREAK AND FOR YOUR ENDS! If I trimmed all my one strand knots would seriously be bald. I have them at the top of my strand middle and end

can you go natural without cutting off the permed hair just yet? is it ok if someone just chooses not to perm for months and months and allow the permed sections to just grow out??
@sexyniyesha1

I have the same question
@PaniniWasteland
@PaniniWasteland 10 лет назад
yes I kept my ends for an entire year before cutting it off. Sometimes people cut it off after 2 years. It can be done but it will be hella hard to comb through because there will be tension where the natural hair meets the relaxed end.

Thank you I would probably cut it thank you so Mich I really needed this

Omg some people trim every month? That's crazy! Seems like they'll hair will never grow like that!
@Quani_McQueen
@Quani_McQueen 8 лет назад
Yea ppl do it because they are trying to retain length instead of growing it out..they try to cut a lot of the split end off. so they may cut about a half an inch a month depending on how fast the hair grows
@ShodyHarajukuBarbie

+quanika91 oh ok! Got it! Thanks so much
@nickeexoxo7184
@nickeexoxo7184 8 лет назад
+quanika91 but if your trying to retain length why cut it so often you will not see a difference. right?
@Quani_McQueen
@Quani_McQueen 8 лет назад
+Nickee xoxo Well yeah, you won't see length even tho it's still growing but sum ppl dnt want to see length for reasons of trying to get rid of as much split ends as possiple. so every half inch that grows a month that person will cut that off every month

I feel the same way cause a trim is a cut to me but they say when you don't trip your hair dosent continue to grow.

the majority of these people making these videos just have good hair and good genes you can put these products in your hair all day but everybody's hair grows different

My hair used to be very thin and would go past my shoulders, but I stopped using shampoos. Started using coconut oil, taking vitamins, eating healthier. I stopped combing my hair. And I trim everytime I need to. Now my hair is past my shoulders. The front of my hair grew back. My ends though are so dry, and I get a lot of split ends. I'm probably going to have to start using a sealant and water.

What do you mean by good hair with good genes? Do you think some people are not capable of growing very long hair (eg to waist)? I'm not being defensive, i am curious.
@Rebecca562
@Rebecca562 8 лет назад
+Rachel Holden I'm not saying their not capable I do think people that are i Dian or more of a mixed race mabye Caucasian peoples hair grow longer faster because I'm African Erica my hair dosent have to be washed every day but I apply doctor miracles temple and nape balm all around my scalp and it has grown wonders about an inch since may but without oils and attention it not gonna grow fast

all hair is "good hair" theres no bad hair. With the right care and products, anyone's hair can grow long. I thought I was stuck with short hair but until I started moisturizing my hair every day and use no heat it grew to my waist

@Sierra Hamilton,100% correct. Over-trimming is not productive. Also I would recommend a no-sulfates fast shmapoo to boost hair growth. Test it first though as everyone's hair reacts differently.

Beautiful, re-watching your videos is always fun and informative even if I've watched a video many times before. Always great reinforcement. Best tip for sure, DON'T WORRY ABOUT LENGTH BUT HEALTH. Amazing how this tip makes the discovery of increased length a great surprise.

I'm having a super difficult time with my natural hair and just began hot oil treating it because of how dry it is. I have a skin problem on top of that, so my hair is HORRIBLE. This video gives me hope and I'm definitely trying every tip I heard. I can't wait to see how my hair progresses!!!
