Congratulations Lornzie! 🥳 All the best in your pregnancy journey. To lightly answer you guy's question on why you've become hypersensitive to noise; it's because during pregnancy and when your baby is born, the part of the brain called the Amygdala grows in size. This enables you to hear any sounds your baby makes and become more sensitive to your baby's needs. Also the amygdala reportedly increases more in size in mothers as compared to fathers or in cases where the mother is absent, the primary care giver of the child. In case you'd want to learn more about babies, there's a Netflix series called "Babies" it covers quite some interesting facts on children and some of their developmental milestones. I've really chuckled throughout the episode because of Ivy's and Shikie's side comments😅

The other day, i was in a deep conversation with my sis and then suddenly she stopped and rushed outside. It felt kinda annoying. Kumbe she had heard her 3.4 year old baby cry and was rushing to tend to her. Yes, I also had the cry, but it was in passing and I couldn't tell it was her child(my niece, who I LOVE SO MUCH). To see my sis in action just opened me up to how motherhood makes women alert and super sensitive. I guess Its safe to say that mothers are Superheros. Kudos to all MAMAs out there and RESPECT!

In the western countries they do the huge Immunity levels blood test done at around 6-13 weeks ish. Hep A,B,C, HIV, tetanus, pertussis, whopping cough, varicella, zika virus, etc, along with blood group. Maternal diabetes at 28wks (GTT drink and blood test) At 30-34wks, GBS swab. I hope all expecting mothers will one day be able to have access to these check ups.

Congratulations, Lorna! About the breastfeeding and whether you may put on weight, it depends on your body, even if you’re breastfeeding. The thing is to learn your body and eat accordingly. Some people are blessed to lose weight when breastfeeding and some simply are not. The most important thing is to eat nutritious food in controlled portions and drink plenty of water
@22badaru
@22badaru 2 года назад
Love this comment!! I think we should be wary about advising pregnant and breastfeeding moms to restrict food when they are growing a whole human!! This is not the time to restrict your food- if you are concerned about weight please go see a dietitian/nutritionist especially one who ascribes to science-based research and nutrition therapy. Mothers of the world you are doing incredible work!!! The world should be doing more to appreciate you!!

Alafu those mamas who have like 5, 6 kids & still look snatched, please realise heaven adores you 🥲🥲 Dear hubbies, please love, respect, care for, support, understand & appreciate your women. Listening to these women & what they've undergone & how strong they are & have to continue to be, aki let's give our women their flowers coz they truly truly deserve it. A new mom in town is always an opportunity to learn, this conversation was enlightening and real. Shikie is coming to life and am here for it! I want to be as excited as Lorna for becoming a mom or I don't want it😅. I was a little bummed by the guilt and sex, it's so sad that women meek themselves available to their partners sexualy in such circumstances. This should be a whole conversation please, and another including men too. What does it say about society, women and men?

Mmh suspected i was Pg but was contemplating getting the Test done .But what convinced me somehow is that i got super emotional, my neighbours cat passed Infront of me and reached the door before me.I was so pissed.I started crying real tears.when i came back to my senses i was wondering what just happened ,and what was all that crying for? Eventually i got the Tests done,and boy ooh boy,was having aversions,i couldn't stand meat,spinach,potatoes,strong spices esp onions,garlic.I would avoid Pasing near a restaurant.Get out of the hse when it was cooking time.I seemed to averse in almost everything i loved before.Then how did i survive ? My obygyn placed me on Vitamin Supplements.The good thing i could compromise some dairy products which After sometimes quickly started hating them.Luckily i loved fruits ..my day to day.i would take them anytime and all the time i wasn't too tired or sleeping.after some days i would hate them again and because i had limited food options i would try to Play around and introduce new ones(then quickly get tired of them)thanks internet would learn new recipes.As a foodie I suffered a lot .75%of my day was sleeping,for the 25% i would put an Alarm so that i atleast stay awake for some hours .I drafted a timetable with my to do list for the day and followed them strictly like eating times,showering,time for walks,time for meet up with friends which would last only for some Minutes or few hrs and appointments before getting super tired because i was constantly tired anyway, no Matter how long i slept and how many naps i took. . I used to love my fruits salty- cucumber infused in freshly squeezed lemon , unripe salted mangoes,salted pears,salted tomatoes. Salted lemon,salted oranges ,i even tried salted watermelon😂🤣The crunchines and the savoury taste was so fullfilling . My energy was so low and my only homework was to take care of myself-meaning i ensure i follow my to do list which i drafted a day before either myself or with the Help of my Partner . Respect to all mamas,and to those who slay and work the entire pregnancy ,hats off,i really don't know how you do IT.. you are geniuses for that.

My biggest shock was how painful it was the first few weeks of breastfeeding. Everywhere you look people talk about how beautiful t breastfeeding is, the bonding it creates bla bla bla….but no one prepares you for the nipple cracks, the non-latching baby because the nipples are too big/small, the swelling of the breasts and nipples……uuii!!! Let me not even think about it! I had to have my aftercare midwife and a lactation specialist on call before I could psyche myself enough to go through with it!!.

The bloating part😭😭 I've never been pregnant but I suffered that early this year. Every sleeping position made it more painful, sitting was excruciating, I only wore deras and no undergarment. Luckily it just went away after a couple of days, Idk what caused it but i hope I never have to go through that ever again. Karibu nitoboe tumbo hadi gas itoke, WTF was that😭😭
