I’ve had mine for a few weeks now, and I just did a break in oil change at 750 miles lol. This thing better make it past 50K miles! I love it so far though. I also had a ‘22 trd OR. Mine doesn’t have mud flaps at all, but I bought a set of rock sliders that I’m hoping will help to deflect some of the rocks… haven’t got them yet though. The tires love grabbing onto rocks, that’s for sure!
@@kevinbradley8613heck yeah! These are such fun trucks! Such a huge upgrade over the 3rd gen! Yeah the TRD pro can actually come with a rock slider type thing that is actually designed to deflect gravel. So I think you’re onto something there! But you’re right the tires grab rocks for sure! I’ll be doing 75 on the highway and out of nowhere a rock comes out of the tires at Mach Jesus and it sounds like I’m getting shot at😂Thanks for watching!
What about that seating position? I finally drove one and liked the feel of the power train but I was looking at the sky and the hood and felt like they blew it with the seat position.
@@beexiong2995 no, actually interested to see the new Tacoma will hold up, from what I’m reading, it just proves I made the right decision. If you get a chance to check out a new Pro4X, you will see for yourself how cheaply built the new Tacoma is. Just for example, the Nissan has proper latches to hold up the rear seats, not a cheap strap. Toyota took a lot of short cuts, no engine cover etc.
It's a turbo engine you should consider changing the oil sooner rather than later especially on a new engine I say you should have changed the oil at a thousand miles to get all the debris out so it doesn't run through the turbo
The Car Care Nut on You Tube, Toyota Master Mechanic always recommends an oil change on all new. vehicles at 1,000 miles, then every 5,000 miles afterwards.
Yeah. It’s similar mileage. The reason I say I’m cool with it getting about the same mileage is it has more power. Usually more power and better mileage don’t go together. So the improvement in driveability (no gear hunting, cleaner power curve) without losing fuel mileage, is acceptable to me. Anyway, thanks for watching!😁

I get better mileage out of my 21 third Gen loaded offroad long bed. All that damage and 2700 miles? Lol. I see no reason to chase new technology when it hasn’t been proven. Also, I tow a boat with mine and I bet long term those turbo 4 bangers will burn up. Thanks for taking the bullet for the rest of us! I know for fact I could put 300k on my truck with minimal issues… Time will tell about these overpriced jewelry boxes. ❤️❤️❤️
Nice Update! 4 months with my off road next week. Those mud guards not doing their job. I have those also but live in the city. I may check out some ppf for thre fender 'hips" as well.
Yeah that’s the difference huh. Toyota has a grand Highlander hybrid that gets 35mpg which is a huge car. Way bigger than a taco. So they could put that powertrain in the Tacoma but it only makes 245 hp. So then people would complain about it being gutless😂
Thought my suspension was stiff and then saw the dealer left the tires at 45PSI. Aired em down to 32 and it’s much better. It’s a softer ride than my previous 2nd gen and I’m good with it for now.
Yeah I guess they air up the tires super high for transport and then the dealership is supposed to air them back down during delivery inspection. I’ve heard of them getting left high tho. I did check mine after driving around for a minute but they were good. Right at 32. But yeah I am actually starting to like this suspension now! Which taco did you get?
@@counterfeitcowboy1362 Basically the same as yours but in underground. OR w/ premium package. Now I’m looking into how to protect against those rock chips. Might be a good video topic for you.
@@Broxerlol awesome! I haven’t seen an underground premium yet. I bet that’s pretty. Yeah that’s a good point. I could make a video on Specific things to do!
Thanks! I’m actually on the hunt right now for a hybrid version of the exact same truck. Since I work at a toyota dealership I have access to all the inventory in the whole country…. There is one ☝️ TRD off road premium hybrid in solar octane that is not pre sold or reserved in the entire country….
I got the TRD off road premium in solar octane. Bought it in Ontario. Was allocated but when the buyer saw it he wasn’t too sure about the colour after all. I happened to go by a few hours later, saw it and bought it on the spot. Got the Toyota roof rack for it as well. Get compliments daily.
The new one is much cheaper plastic it looks cheaper and it feels cheaper hands down it's like the recycle the plastic from a water bottle company put a little bit of coloring in it and the way you go who's who's going to know the difference, can the turbo 4-cylinder motor inside of the truck what a stupid idea turbos that made for cars specialty sports cars Toyota's going to learn this the hard way, people don't buy trucks to race not at Tacoma anyway do you need power with a truck not fake Turbo Power that's not going to last, do you need real power from a naturally aspirated 3.5 V6 they had a good thing going with this mortar then they had to change it to make it worse I guess once you got something that good there's only one way to go in that is down!!!! And that's exactly where they're going!!!
Sold my 19 trd pro for a 24 raptor. Couldnt be happier. The 24 tacoma is a piece of shit rippoff. Toyota should be ashamed for selling it, and dumb consumers should be ashamed for buying it. Well at least the 13 or so that have so far.
Cool story bro. I will go tell that to all the other famous turbo 6 engines of the world. "Hey bud, you werent supposed to have lasted making big power, because this one guy on the internet said so". At least a turbo 6 isnt as overtaxed in a truck as a turbo FOUR. Do you even cast a reflection?
Up here in Canada the 4th gens are sold before they even hit the dealer lots. Its a big improvement and people who actually own them are liking them so far. And unless youre putting the live valve suspension to use and need the wide body stance for performance, raptors are a huge wast of money. Much better spent on a regular fullsize if youre not running it in the dunes
I miss my Raptor. Had transmission problems and didn’t want to deal with it. My life is too busy and going back and forth to dealer was a pain. I just got a dud.
Thanks! It looks so good on camera! It is super easy to get awesome pictures of this truck. I do like the windchill pearl too. And the bronze oxide is sick too
There you go! The wash before this video I forgot to put a rag on the shutter sensor. Didn’t remember until I had sat and soaked that exact spot with the pressure washer for like 45 seconds trying to get the bugs off😂 must be fine 🤷🏽♂️😂
I have 45K miles on my Frontier Pro-4X and not one issue since I bought it. Love my choice and my truck. Added a 2” lift and UCAs for a total spent of $42K. Hard to beat!
That's why you run a rock slider or running boards mud flaps normally don't😅 Rock chips I have the Predators on my 2022 TRD off-road not a single rock chip but I also added mud flaps😊
Yeah I might get some sliders or something. The bottom of my truck is absolutely peppered😂 the factory mud flaps on the 3rd gen were definitely beefier too. I had them on my 22 sr5 and I didn’t notice near as many rock chips.
Its funny you bring up mudflaps being worthless. The 1st time i laid eyes on a 2024 Tacoma i reached down & grabbed the flap & was in awe. So cheesy compare to 2023 & all 3rd Gen flaps. Then i looked at msrp sticker & they have the balls to put it in additional charges 60.00 for Dollar Store plastic flaps. Really... Love some of the upgrades in interior. Rear bed looks too Tundra'ish. 4 cyl 2.4 ahhh they should have used the 2.7 bullet proof (i had & loved). Turbo is yet to be determined ! Fuel economy "My 2023 trdsport 4×4 4dr Sbed is getting that & depending on road i can beat that & my 3.5 is not broke in quite yet.... in all honesty i hope the 4cyl Turbo makes it a reliable Toyota truck. We can only wait like you stated. Good early review. Enjoy the Tacoma... EDIT , Do you think its worth 50-55,000.00. Keep in mind taxes registration & insurances ??? Seems they went up 10-15,000 from 2023-2024 models
Yeah the mudflap is stupid. And I’m a little peeved I had to pay for them. 😂 I think the price is a lot but something is worth what people will pay for it. And people are buying them. And it’s really not until the higher packages that the price increased a lot. Like on the sr ( these are all 4 door 4x4) they went up 2k, the sr5 went up 2k with the option to add a bunch more stuff so they can be about 6k more. The TRD offroad is about 4K more (one of the first ones that I think had a big increase) the offroad premium is about 8k more. Ect. So once you start adding all the crazy stuff like the 14” screen, front and rear parking sensors, the jbl system with the removable speakers, cooled seats…. That’s when the price goes way up. But the taco has never had any of that stuff. So I guess what I’m saying is, I don’t love how much the price went up but I can see how it got there.
That’s interesting. I haven’t seen anything on the chips. It is every bit as bad as some of the duallies I’ve had. The fenders on these new trucks stick out so far! It kinda seems too late to ppf this one 😂but I would say it’s a must for sure!
Wow those rick chips are disappointing. I live up here in the rust belt... those will be the beginning of cancer in any northern climate. Get after them!
Yeah there’s a lot of them! I think I got all the ones on the bedside. I would imagine there’s something like 1000 on either rocker panel tho😬 I might need to just spend a few hours touching those up. And then put rock sliders on
Weird! Thank you for letting me know. This was the last video I edited on my phone so there’s a possibility the audio is jacked. I’m editing on a MacBook now so it should be fixed 👍
I averaged about 16 on my 3rd gen, so 21 would be a huge improvement. The 3.5 was a Camry engine stuffed into a truck, you have to rev the hell out of to get any power.
The new Tacoma is a disaster. It’s terrible and just wait for all the recalls coming in 2024. Toyota is not the same company it once was a few years ago. Bye bye Toyota
Why buy a truck if you care about fuel efficiency......go buy a prius.....theres no replacement for displacement i love my v6 and how i drive 128km and half the tanks missing it reminds me i made the right decision lmao I LOVE IT
Are they having engine troubles like the Tundra? I haven’t heard engine issues on the turbo 4. I had a 19 TRD Off Road, and my wife owned an 18 4 Runner SR5 4x4. I towed our quads and SxS’s on a Big Tex 70PI 20x7 trailer. I towed about 5,000 lbs and my Tacoma struggled, just laying into third gear a lot, and hunting for gears. But my wife’s 4 Runner was a towing beast. I should’ve made a video on that. Because the Taco has a higher towing capacity than the 4 Runner. I hope this new Taco tows better.
I haven’t heard of any engine issues on the Tacoma yet. I’m not surprised that your Tacoma didn’t love towing. I actually have a video on my channel, that I posted a month or 2 ago, towing with this Tacoma. I towed my kubota tractor on a little flat bed trailer. I figured the whole load weighed about 5400 pounds and it towed it like a champ. This new motor tows like a diesel. And the 8 speed makes it so it doesn’t have to hunt for gears. This motor makes peak torque at 1700 rpm too so it really doesn’t need all that much rpm. Where the old 3.5 didn’t make peak torque till about 3800 rpm. In that towing video I also have a clip pulling a little heavier load, up the same hill I pulled the tractor up, but in my 2022 sr5 with the 3.5. So you can see the difference. 👍
6 minutes in and don’t know if he’s every going to talk about the title of the video. Not trying to be mean but didn’t want to watch just random talking. You put a title - I’d like to know what happened but can’t wait 13 minutes for it. I still support your work 👍
I have no issues with my 2024 Off Road Taco. I love it and it performs great no squeaks and my glove box does not bounce around either. It is a fun and very comfortable truck to drive around in. Thanks for your honest review.
@@nickdipasquale9779 Nah I'm good. Just bought a '22 TRD Sport with 25k miles fully loaded for $36k about 3 weeks ago. Getting an OTT tune done on Friday to take care of the gear hunting and throttle lag issues. I'll still be going strong at 300k miles and beyond. I doubt you'll be able to say the same. They're already having transmission failures in these new Tacomas with no replacements available any time soon. Hopefully you got a good one
@@ericd1632 Good luck with your ride hope you have fun with it. Enjoy life. I think I will be fine with mine but if there is an issue Toyota will square it away!
Bought a white ‘24 TRD off road. 500 miles in and I love it. Sold my jeep. Been my dream car. First thing I did was ceramic coat the truck. The interior is a big upgrade compared to my friends ‘22 taco. Happy I waited.
My 2017 long bed, SR5, quad cab with the V6 is averaging 24MPG. I'll keep my 2017 and V6. That 4 banger turbo will never last as long as their V6. I won't be buying a new Tacoma for that reason, plus they are way over priced, quality issues being build out of Mexico and they dumped American jobs to have them built in Mexico. F Toyota. If i buy a new truck, which is doubtful, it would be a V6 Frontier.
@ericd1632 I don’t think most people know this. Most 3rd gen Tacomas especially in the last few years were built in Mexico. And the new plant they built to completely move production to Mexico is one of the most state of the art manufacturing plants toyota has.
@@counterfeitcowboy1362 And yet quality still sucks. Yes, they have been making assembling Tacoma's in Mexico since 2004. But there was still assembly being done in Texas as late as 2021.
@@ericd1632 They were still assembling Tacoma's in Texas until 2021. yes, they have been assembling Tacoma's in Mexico since 2004. Nothing I said was wrong. Ditching American jobs for Mexican jobs. F Toyota. The Nissan Frontier is still a V6 and still assembled in the USA. I'll take a Frontier over a Tacoma. I like to employee American workers.
You know something the titles you have for your videos are NOT helping the sales of the new Tacoma! I can't believe u work for a Toyota dealership and post these discouraging TITLED VIDEOS all you are doing is costing Toyota sales by doing this! U need make more positive titles to your videos!!
There's an entire segment of the internet now dedicated to complaining about the new Taco. Same stupid comments. I went from a 2016 frontier v6, which was a solid truck, to a 2024 trd sport and its not even a contest of which is the better truck. If you dont like the price, make more money, cuz that truck is fckn awesome.
