My parents bought me a Craftsman "click style" torque wrench back in around 1981 as a Christmas present while I was in Diesel Mechanics Trade School here in Tacoma. Its funny, just yesterday while using it here at home on my 1 Ton Ford lug nuts I thought about what will happen to the torque wrench when I'm dead and buried...lol. I thought, 'Good tools never change'. . My Dad still has the old "beam" styled torque wrenches. I don't think my Grandpa ever used a torque wrench...Then I had the clicker styled. Then they come out with dial indicators...then digital led...now this FANCY one for degrees! Holy crap, I can imagine my grandson (who is 3 years old and got a Craftsman tool chest for Christmas last year and metric/standard wrench sets this year)...when I die and he goes through my box and decides what to keep; it prolly won't be that torque wrench! Hahaha!!! But then I still have all my Grandpas old 1940/1950 Craftsman tools. Never use them but will never get rid of 'em either.
As inspirational as you are...you make me feel like I’m lazy...I usually work alone...Somedays on the road then nights in the shop...not close to the hours you work....Your a true leader.....Someday I’ll fly out and help you for a week, free of course, just to pay ya back for pushing me to keep going...Thanks
Ive never run into a new ring that was out of spec either but i still check em. Its the same as checking wrist pin clearances etc. Theres always that first time and on something where id be on the hook for a massive amount of labor at the minimum its worth the extra time for my own peace of mind.
You can use the ratchet function on the torque wrench and it remembers how far you have turned bolt head, very handy in tight spaces i.e. rear cyl. head bolts close to firewall.
1st first, love your videos, you are very good at what you do. wish I was closer, I would come in and clean up a few hours a week for free. I've noticed that lots of tool manufacturers don't include 18 mm tools in many sets, maybe because that size is not as common for their intended application.
Love to read some of the comments. Really? Always hated doing the bottom end. Years of working on Detroits two strokes. V engines were the worst. Thumbs up
If you're looking to buy sockets in sets with no skips look at Gear wrench they sell a 1/2" drive metric impact set from 8mm - 30mm deep and standard in the same set. I got the set off Amazon for about $120. I just bought a fancy schmancy Matco torque wrench just like that snap on buying stuff like that hurts the old pocket book. I Shure hope it's going to be worth it longevity wise.
Another awesome video Warren. Yep, you are correct there will always, always be those who think they know better than the one actually doing a task / job. Generally those ones tend to be armchair knowledge bases or at least they think so. There is a big big difference between offering advice / help and being condescending / arrogant some could seriously do with learning the difference for sure. You just keep doing what your doing. Because you are you not them or anyone else. And because you are you is why we all look forward to the next great video that you post for us to watch :)
Good job men..I'm waiting to listen that engine running because...i need the same job on my cm870 with 1,500,000 on my engine never open its time to refresh...aftermarket parts like that one are good?
They do that with the sockets and wrenchs for a marketing reason. They do sell these sizes individually at double the price as a single wrench or socket in the set. You mite say they are stupid like a Fox!
@@westerntruckandtractorrepa1353 so we will be getting it by Sunday then more than likely. Glad the wife and i took the Side by Side out for a ride today and enjoyed the woods. Ill be putting my tracks on it soon i imagine so we can go play in the snow. Love our polaris Razor. :)
It's coming along. All the parts are in so there should be videos on the coming together of all the work. Thank you for watching and subscribing Mandy Rogers
Take a center punch and test the block (poor man's brinell tester) the metal is much softer than a Cat !!! If they'd of keyway slotted the camshafts etc I might like the isx engine's but I've worked on a few of em and drove several of em. I'D TAKE A CAT EVERYTIME !!! i like the old 855 s and the N14 stuff but I don't care for the isx engine's MY OPINION.
