Rehman sir said in an interview that he wanted Tu kya jane song in Shreya ghoshal's voice. but as she were out of contry for her world tour concerts, she couldn't make it on time.. and they went with yashika. Yashika did good job but in shreya's voice that song would have sound more magical❤

I would say Yashika was perfect for this song! Or Shilpa Rao would have worked well too...Shreya Ghoshal absolutely fits everywhere but there are some voices that are just made for a song!

@@SANGEETARIST I know it's hard to re imagine a song you've heard for a while in another voice. but I feel the romance and feel tu kya jaane required, would've more elevated in shreya's voice. (Yashika was good we agree) If ARR ever release shreya's version we'll see the difference. Like what we've seen in tere hawale case. Shilpa's version gave it some sufi and sad touch while shreya's version gave it beautiful romantic touch (as the lyrics required imo) lyrics sounds more beautiful in her rendition. About tu kya jane..if not shreya, then Harshdeep kaur would be a great choice imo.

I like the story writing in Imtiaz Ali movies, written by irshad ji. Love Aaj kal plot was explained in "main kya hoon" and "ye dooriyan", Great storytelling in "Haawa haawa" in rockstar, "safar" in Jab Harry met sejal, "chali kahani" is a mix of fantasies in Tamasha, "Parmesara" in Love Aaj kal 2 , and now "Baaja".

BAAJA is the best song of the album for me. Nukkad Naatak wala gaana hai 100%, story telling 10/10, music 200/100. Har awaaj mein apni khaasiyat hai. Bhai mast gaana boht.

I don't know if someone else noticed it or not, but the arrangements and composition of the intro song of Chamkila is very similar to the "Chali Kahani". Even the screenplay, glimpses of the movie etc have similar feel.

Great review. Man you should do more music reviews, you are good at it. I particularly like when you play a bit to support your analysis. Bol Mohabbat is such a great. Besides ARR, Kailash Kher has done an incredible job. And yes agreed that it is a more vintage-ARR sounding song. That "interesting switch" in Tu Kya Jaane has puzzled me as well. Don't know why ARR decided to do that. It first sounded to me like the singer was not really capable there. Note that ARR has recently done something like this in Omane (Khatti Si Woh Imli, in Hindi) from The Goat Life as well at 3:03.

Kya bolra hai lol chamkila had clear double meaning infedility songs, honey singh songs aren't that double meaning compared to chamkila. Hello @SangeetArtist, I love your work and this is a genuine constructive comment. Your pronunciation of phir (fir) is incorrect. I know a lot of Punjabi language influences people say Fir, but you seem to be Hindi speaker. Please listen to any of the established singers and how they pronounce Phir.. from Rafi to Shreya Ghoshal, they know how to pronounce it correctly

10:55 Chamkila's songs were double meaning and basically a social commentary on the vulgarity in society, but Honey Singh and especially Badshah's lyric vulgarity is so on face that these can't even be listened for the sake of giving a try. In my opinion, these are the ones promoting vulgarity.
