Sakal ban is the song which I can hear for whole day and still not get tired of it

My faves are Chaudhavi Shab, Saiyaan Hatto Jao and Masoom Dil Hai Mera

Actually najariya ki mari is also a remake from pakeezah movie. But with different arrangements and he has beautifully composed this song. And its really lovely that we get a so original and memorable song like masoom dil hai mera. Hats off to SANJAY LEELA BHANSALI 👏👏

So, many of Bhansali ji's songs are besed on Raag Yaman (Lydian in western music) with the sharp 4th note (teevra ma). Here, phool gendwa na maaro, chaudhvi shab, masoom dil hai mera and Ek baar dekh li jiye are based on this raag. Some older songs of Bhansali ji based on the same are Ek dil Ek jaan, Laal Ishq, albela sajan (some parts), Aaj Ibaadat. Sakal Ban song is based on raag Bahar, which sounds similar to Vrindavani sarang ( Ghoomar is based on this raag).

5:10 yes "masoom dil hai mera" sounds somewhat very similar to "Bairi piya" from devdas and background especially the starting sound similar to "kahe chhed" (in the sense of the grandness of music. Don't know if anybody feels same or not but this is what i feel😊

Masoom Dil Hain Mera sounds like Nigahein Milane Ko Dil Chahta Hain Azadi sounds like Hum Dekhenge

In ‘Saiya hatto jao’ tarana where Aditi was shown in gajgamini steps was a fabulous part of musical composition

I think Nazariya ki mari is very famous Thumri song. It was also used by Kamal Amrohi in his Magnum Opus "Pakeezah" an it was sung by Praveen Sultana ( probably).Madhubanti bagchi's vocal is a exact replica of typical haunting and classical vocal of yesteryear Ghazal or Thumri3singers ❤

Gaano ko sajaya hai series ke scenes ka demand dekhkar... And that song which is known as "Saiyaan hato jao" is really a captivating musical reflections of the tawaiff , who accidentally fell in love with a Nwab despite being a twaiff...

Some of the songs have actually grown on me after only 1 listen already, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is by far the most talented gems ever Indian cinema has got, he can direct masterclass movies, even compose songs so well, Heeramandi album is unique and classic, the instruments are well organised giving fusion and classical vibes, the sound arrangements are absolutely amazing. Overall a great album ❤️👌

Do mention that nazariya ke mare mari mori guiyaan is originally a traditional dadra. Its then recreated by SLB.

The Sakal Ban song raag Bahar ke Upar adharit hai jo ki Basant ritu me gaaya Bajaya jata hai ❤ the swaras are similar in raga Basant and Malhar but chalan k adhar par dono raago ka jo vab hai , jo rup hai wo totally different ho jaata hai

Masoom dil sounds like maru bihag mixed with some yaman phrases. The other one you asked about sounds yaman-ish too. The chorus in masoom sounds like puriya-kalyan. SLB keeps milking Kalyan and purvi thaat based raags in a lot of his songs.

'Najariya ki maari' is a thumri and the pacing thing at the end is called 'Laggi' in the world of thumri.

5:39 - 5:41 part from "Masoom Dil Hai Mera" song, the singing part actually, I found very similar to the song "Dil Jo Na Keh Saka" by sung Lata Mangeshkar ji in movie "Bheegi Raat" (1965). If you want to hear the later song, hear from 1:36 to1:39, you can find the a little bit of similarity too. Please let me know, if I'm right or not.

Masoom hai dil mera is in Kaharba Taal that is in 4/4 pattern and 8 matras. Its a variation of Kaharba Taal it goes like- Dha Dha Ghe Nag Dhin/ Ta Ta Ghe Nag Tin

Whatever may be the faults with the storyline of the series, the music was very good and beautifully made, you can just put it in background and vibe for hours.

Believe me you're not missing out anything by not watching it ..chill😅 Though I enjoyed aesthetic language mood n little bit of romance of the show.. but not worth a time for entire series

Sakal ban is raag Vrindavani Sarang, Masoom Dil is Yaman raag that's why sounding recreation. Yaman has been used a lot in Bollywood.

Nice Music Review. Heeramandi is visually amazing too especially in 4k HDR. Also please Review Pakeezah and Pakeezah Rang Barang albums as well lot of inspiration like "nazariya ki maari" is from there.

The attention to detail is commendable in the series.. every character has its own layers even the male characters are very well created. What worked best for me is the way SLB used every tiny little component of the set as a character to tell the story.. I have first watched to know the overall story and now rewatching solely for SLB's story telling.. a good watch (Note : this is to encourage those who haven't watched yet )

If you want to watch the series for feel good music in cinematic views so you definitely watch it otherwise if you want some amazing climax like present series have so you maybe not prefer it but it's all about the pre-independence era so if you like those time and elements you give it a try..
