A woman saying "I don't want to lift weights because I don't wanna look like a female body builder" is alot like saying "I don't want to get my drivers license because I don't wanna be a f1 racer. Just saying.
that’s truuuue but honestly even women who are just kinda strong/have toned arms get made fun of in our culture. People still won’t shut up about Michelle Obama’s arms. She’s not even a gym rat i’m pretty sure she just has toned arms, yet people literally call/ed her a biological man for having strong arms. 🤦🏽♀️ That’s what they mean, they don’t want to be treated like shit for minor deviated norms. People saying “I don’t want to get fat over Christmas” mean they don’t wanna gain 10lbs, they don’t literally think they’ll become 300lbs in a week but people do still comment/notice if you bulk up a little n i can see why there’s fear there.

@@TheNefastor I highly doubt children in your country are learning about muscle growth pathways and how training to failure isn't necessary to optimally initiate hypertrophy or strength gains
I had this fear, really, because I have a lot of issues with men fetishizing being muscular, I don’t wanna be a muscle mommy 😭 I just want to be healthy and live to meet my grandkids. Thank you
I mean there are girls who fetishize guys with muscle too. Do what makes you happy. Don't live your life willingly letting the chains of fear slowly choke the life out of you. Being your natural self will drastically improve your mental health and help weed out insecure people , plus being your natural self breeds confidence and confidence is attractive in both men and women. You got this! ❤
Calisthenics might be a good option. It can help you become much more flexible, get some abs, defined and toned upper body, and then you can do legs at the gym
thats not what people think. many women just don’t want muscular upper bodies. it’s not traditionally considered feminine and as someone who as insecurities about being bulky as woman i stay away from upper body stuff too
@@theleanbeefpatty I don't like the idea of "natural feminine beauty" - you're probably one of the most beautiful human beings I've seen, Patty - as a result of genetics, work, style - but most important: happiness and confidence. There shouldn't be any specific beauty-expectations towards girls (which is never affected by muscles anyways).
Even for the naysayers… there’s a difference between being very serious about your fitness like her… and being the female version of Jay Cutler (football player or bodybuilder 🤣)
As women, who for years, wanted to build muscle strength, would here this comment from my own mother! And that, is what sadly put me off of building muscle strength... I'm definitely gonna try this year now! Wish me luck! ❤
as a female who is already quite bulky and doesn’t lift weights, i stand by this statement. i would rather not have people compare me to a man and make insensitive comments about something i’m already insecure about. on the other hand if youre skinny and and not naturally muscular you won’t just “look like a man” out of nowhere. it’s actually quite hard to get muscles that big as a female
My mom instilled this fear in me by telling me I wasn’t a guy when I was little. I would hardly work out with my 5lb dumbbells because of that… NOW, at 22, I’m like “screw this,” and I’m letting myself get beefy. I’ve always had a muscular build, so now I’m not fighting it. Bulking + cutting. Getting some metaphorical confused eye rolls from my mom, but never been happier! It feels amazing. 💪 edit: I don't want it to come across as hate on my family. It is just interesting how cultural norms have changed over the years. My mom grew up in the 50s/60s, which was a wildly different time from now! I definitely would have been an oddball then! I don't wanna be pedantic but you did pick Dwayne Johnson as your example. I don't think there's a more obvious and exaggerated steroids physique in the public eye than him. Just saying, it takes all that and your own custom-designed pharmacy.
You forgot (ts) exo-test and muscle genetics,AND genetic that easy "digests" tons of extra test levels, in the same time, also SPECIFIC genetic AGAIN - low-receptive to testo sebaceous glands on the skin. Otherwise, you will look like those scary pictures of "rotting" bodybuilders. In fact, this ONLY applies to the SKIN and it does not rot, it's just that the cells, having got drunk on testosterone, produce tons of sebum and bacteria on the skin climb through the pores opened with fat inside and starts hell and Israel there, the smoke of carousing and fumes in the haze of hell. it has nothing to do with the state of the body. But I got carried away. if it is possible to meet all these conditions, then a woman can really soon look like a man
I always just tell these people that it takes YEARS to build muscle and that you can just do high reps if you don’t wanna bulk up. People talk like they could actually get muscular so easily
Even people who build muscle extremely easy and fast (me and my whole family) don't get super beefy. A lot of people, especially women, get more toned than beefed. And yes, I realize it is not normal to naturally build large amounts of muscle very quickly, but some people don't have to work as long to do so. I take 3 months lifting, and I can get jacked. Everyone in my family is the same. I used to be anorexic, ate fast food, chips and salsa, and 3 liters of soda a day, and I was jacked and incredibly strong. All that to say, I wasn't beefed or masculine looking. Even when I got healthy and was packed with solid muscle, I never looked masculine. You couldn't even tell if I didn't flex.
@@thisishisbubbles9362I'm on the opposite end where my genetics for lifting is so average it's incredible. It's taken 8 months of consistent work to get to a point where I look like I go to the gym with clothes on
dude NO, high reps are exactly what makes you bulk up, if you don't wanna bulk but want to gain strength you'll have to LOWER your reps but lift much heavier weights (weights that you can only rep 3 to 5 times)

I've heard so many women say this to me when i did personal training. No matter what i said, i couldn't get it out of their minds. They only wanted to do either cardio or abs/legs
If a natural woman who lifts weights looks more muscular than all natural men, let us (men) know her routine and diet! Please ❤. My dad is like this :/ when i told him i was doing weightlifting the first thing he told me is that i should try and loose as much weight as possible before gaining muscle so i dont look "muscly-fat" or so i "dont look like a man" really ticked me off because he's usually positive about getting into fitness but apparently going to the gym/bodybuilding/powerlifting is where he draws the line.

The only “strong” women we have been exposed to is all the extreme bodybuilding steroid contests that used to be popular, so it’s no wonder we’re afraid of lifting weights. It’s good to see more accurate and realistic representation!
I mean I feel this..I wouldn't want super muscly arms or thighs as big as Patty's but I love her abs and her butt is goals. I just appreciate her work ethic. Everyone has their own preferences
Well, on a positive note you can target muscles. You'd basically focus on diet to get lean and glute/thigh exercises to grow the glutes. She is pushing every muscle group possible but theres nothing wrong with picking and choosing. Depends on your goals.

I don’t think some people comprehend the fact that It’s super hard to gain muscle just working out at a normal pace. Even in general working out hard it’s still going to be tough.
Many men devote their lives to it and dont get results as good as her's (because even most men tend not to develop musculature like that without juice).

It is a more masculine look and there’s nothing you can do that will change that fact. Being that muscular, specially in the upper body is masculine. And that’s fine. It’s your choice and it’s others choice not to want to look like that.
The fact that many women will say “ having excessive upper body hypertrophy makes them look mainly “ maybe is a clue that in fact it is possible.. buuuut that being said love who and whatever makes you happy💪🏾
She like a Greek sculpture. Aesthetic pleasing to see. She proof that muscular women are and can beautiful . Her physique is truly something of an art form.
This lady is the epitome of a strong woman. I’m 58 and have been in the gym for 35 years. It takes an enormous amount of time, effort and dedication to gain muscle. No woman will look masculine by building muscle. Muscle is healthy, it supports your bones. I’ll never look like her(again, I’m 58!) but going to the gym and building muscle is essential.
Actually, based on archaeological records, vikings were pretty slender. Not only was it impossible to get buff in most ancient societies unless you were genetically gifted, being good at battle has nothing to do with how individually buff people are. Discipline and tactics win ancient battles. Ancient battles weren't like movies where 2 mosh pits run at each other, they were like chess matches and the first side to break ranks lost. That's why Spartans for example got ready for battle with gymnastics exercises, not by lifting weights and chugging pre-workout.
@@Mark-nh7zg It's rare to find both an original comment _and_ a follow-up comment rebuttal that I both wholeheartedly agree with. Yeah this is a legit fear of mine. I know it's silly because I see you and think "holy shit she's gorgeous" but still, body image issues are rarely reasonable :( watching your videos is warming me up to the idea tho :)
I hear you!! ❤❤ I know there are some women who don't end up loving the way their upper body looks when they lift weights, but in terms of having a more "manly" appearance, I think you'd honestly have to take steroids... I've seen women lift some impressive weights and they have to flex for you to even see their muscles 😅 But just wanted to say your feelings are super valid on this!
@@JazzySaint Yeah exactly, I think the "I'll look manly if I lift" stems from girls who watched women lifting only at competitive levels (since they have to get roided for those) Whereas Patty is a prime example of how beautiful a lean muscular build looks regardless of gender, I hope more women start lifting, she bout to bring a whole revolution 🙏🏻
I’ve been in those shoes! Take your time on your journey, listen to what’s working for your body! When I stopped trying to fight the muscle building tho I think I actually did start to look better than when I fought it (just my experience). You rock tho! Keep it up 💪💕
to be honest I feel like I'm not educated enough to start muscle building yet in a way to quell the fears.. although I think Patty is the 1st female inspiration for me. (I've always admired Jean claude van damme and childishly wanted to do what he could do LOL) i really think body type and which muscle groups you choose to /know how to work out matters, and people probably refer to the certain situations where people didnt know what type sets & when, form, etc to do, and built up neck and traps or built out obliques that took away any hourglass (the supposed coveted) curves in place of boxy lines.. i think different body type awareness starting points and desired form, how the different types will probably want to work out, are not talked about as commonly, from my meager exposure. knowledge can help with the fear. exposure to different beautiful examples can help. it probably takes a little extra time to get the right info though.
To be honest, this is a valid concern. I’m black and genetically I’m quite muscular already without having stepped foot in a gym once in my life. I’m really insecure about my muscular arms because they look super out of place on my petite body. I really would avoid lifting weights because I would genuinely look like a man. It doesn’t help that I already have quite an androgynous face and have been mistaken for a male multiple times in the past 😅
My advice would definitely be to stop fighting it and fully lean into it. You’ve apparently been given the gift to build muscle fast, why wouldn’t you use it? Imagine all the amazing things you could do if you worked out on top of that…isn’t that way cooler than basically just being an aesthetic? If your arms seem disproportionate to your body you could start out by training different parts like your legs to balance it out nicely. Just my two cents. I think it’s sad how women have been brainwashed into prioritizing looking weak and “feminine” over being capable.
Understood. All people are different. It’s no different someone saying this to patty as it is for her to call out someone who disagrees. Different strokes for different folks. I guess when your an internet sensation and an” influencer” (god I hate that word) your compelled to call people out for being contrary to what your trying to influence
Just to be clear - being black does not automatically mean we build lots of muscle without trying to (or that we’re “naturally” obese either). I’m training for a bodybuilding competition and it’s literally like the only thing I do now to get any gains lol I hope OP just friggen enjoys it and does some squats/deadlifts!
Growing up, I don’t think girls really lifted so I didn’t think that was an option for me. It’s good to see girls lifting nowadays. They’ve inspired me to start lifting
As a woman, I don’t want to be buff but lean instead, and personal preference is fine. You actually CAN be really buff if you train that way, so I choose not to. However fear of being buff shouldn’t stop any woman who wants to lift. You don’t have to go all out with the weight if you just do consistent moderate weights. You can build lean muscle while avoid being super buff.
@@AkitaMix they can get rlly buff too if they try enough, but since u said, we usually have more percentage fat,so it will be less noticeable to the eye, but still be there. Ofc not sth crazy bc I'm a newbie, but yep, others dont bc different structure or genetics and percentage of fat.
If you're a female, you legitimately can't really get "buff" the way men are unless you're taking testosterone and lifting your ovaries off or you have some crazy genetic disorder that causes you to have much higher than normal test levels. The difference between men and women with regard to muscle building ability is probably one of the biggest differences between males and females period, it's absolutely massive. Females cannot build muscle at even half the rate of males naturally.
@@xd._.28234 Women also have different bone structure and significantly less testosterone than men, which is a huge factor in maintaining large amounts of muscle mass. The chances of regular females who casually go to the gym and aren’t tracking their macros religiously getting “bulky” is next to none.
