To be fair, Epitaph can only look up to 10 seconds in the future, so maybe he used up those 10 seconds right before Joseph predicted his sentence.

Should be noted that epitaph CANNOT be used to stop the future but can only be used to give advantage through preparation.

If one had to apply it to an online game, then I guess the only way would be to make it so: 1.KC player activates erased time, but the player 2 has no indication at all 2.Player 2 continues as normal, seeing the KC player move and do stuff and maybe hits KC player once or twice 3.Meanwhile, KC player (In his screen) has no hitbox (Representing how he is just seeing the future) and sees what player 2 does 4.When erased time ends, the button imputs made by player 2 are repeated, but now player 2 sees how KC player reacted So it would be like: Erased time activates, you get close and hit KC player, erased time ends, and player 2 sees where he ended up, and KC player appears where he decided to go. Kind of a mess to program

It's probably less that they don't understand his Stand ability (while it's pretty esoteric, it's just Araki's unique way of saying Diavolo can skip time), and more that King Crimson's ability is VERY HARD to faithfully and accurately represent visually in motion. Even in the manga, that stuff with the images superimposed on each other was quite abstract, even if it was artistically impressive. But Araki does that kind of thing a lot. Look at the M.C. Escher inspirations in the way Stands like Tenore Sax and Enigma are portrayed.

fun fact, according to the (most certainly not canon) Jorge Joestar novel, King Crimson and Bites the Dust get into an infinite loop if used against each other.

Let me see... If a victim of Bites the Dust is about to reveal Kira's Identity, then Doppio can see it through Epitaph before it actually hapens. Killer Queen then attacks Diavolo/Doppio through Epitaph (Stand cognition is vulnerable to Third Bomb). Now, there two ways this could go. One is, Diavolo blows up before he could do anything and becomes doomed. But it's more likely that Diavolo uses King Crimson at the last moment, preventing the explosion from killing him and now, with no options left, Kira rewinds time. The problem is, this incontigruous situation is now a part of destiny and this conflict of powers will always happen at the said time in said place (if there're no Joestars to knock one of them out) after each reset. As both Kira and Diavolo are far too persistent and oblivious to let go their opponent, they are now stuck forever in an epic fight. And the World is now in a loop until the person with the Third Bomb becomes too traumatized to speak.

Basically, Diavolo can see 10 seconds into the future. When he activates the stand those 10 seconds will play out exactly as he saw for everyone except himself. After the 10 seconds end that time is removed, only keeping the results. Say someone planned to charge at him and threw a punch in those 10 seconds. They'd be standing where they punched with their arm out, thinking they hit him, but Diavolo isn't there. He's now behind them with King Crimson out as they're wondering what in the hell just happened.

For me, you know how the protagonist and antagonists stand are polar opposites? Well, use that knowledge and think of Time Erasure and Return to Zero as Casuation Erasure and Effect Erasure. Essentially, for 10 seconds, Diavolo can erase the causation of an action from the memories of others and Gold Experience Requiem can erase certain effects from others.
