What a surprise, a return visit to a location to remove another hive 5 months after we visited the first time. Usually, the bees will move right in to where the previous hive had been located, but this one was in a totally new spot which was a bit of a surprise for us. But, after a few minutes of searching for their location, we found them and got to work on removing them.
As it turned out, I did not find the queen during the removal, but did see her when I released the bees. Just another day in the life of a bee wrangler. Thanks so much for watching, and until the next one, God's peace to all.
Mr. Ed

what are your thoughts about people who only exterminate bees? do you feel if bees exibit aggression should you exterminate immediately or would you do a live removal with the bees being angry? I personally save all bees whether they are aggressive or not?
@JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff Год назад
Personally, I'm not for it. I understand about the threats of the Africanized bees, but there are many beekeepers out west that those are the only type bees available so they keep them....very good for those beekeepers. I'm happy to hear you fall into that category as well. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 500 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. It disturbs me to see you take a big bite from a comb of honey, and not see you trim off the bit area, or where you put it. Hopefully not mixed in with the comb from which you will be extracting honey, to bottle & sell ?
@JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff Год назад
None of the honey that comes from a removal is ever sold, but rather given back to the bees in order for them to survive on. However, whenever there is surplus honey and it is not given back to the bees, it is placed in a different ice chest so as not to mix it. Thanks for watching. God's peace Nancy. Mr. Ed

How close are the africanized bees to you guy’s cheers from CANADA

For now, the Africanized bees are not in Louisiana, but that does not mean they won't show up in the future. As far as I'm concerned, I hope that future is a very long way off. Mr. Ed. Any reason why you have stopped just putting the hive over the bee vac and letting the bees walk themselves into the hive rather than tossing them into the hive?
@JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff Год назад
I had found that often times after the comb was framed and placed over the bees in the vacuum box, the honey from the comb would drip on the bees below it killing a lot of them. The way I do it now, releasing the bees and allowing them to fly on the comb, has been a better method all around. No loss of bees due to honey drippage, and they get on the brood comb much faster. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

How long can brood be left untended before things get rough?
@JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff Год назад
As long as the brood stays in the ice chest, it remains viable. I have had it in there for over 4 hours and the brood, as long as it was capped, will hatch out. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed

Hi Jeff I’ve noticed you never use your smoker, is that because you have the vacuum?
@JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff Год назад
Smoking bees stresses them. Since the removal causes enough stress for them already, there is no sense adding to that level. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

@@JeffHorchoff oh wow I didn’t know that, I thought it just masked the attack pheromones, it’s so strange that you open up their hive and they remain calm, yet we had a hive in a wall and you couldn’t walk near them or they would race out and attack people, I still love them 😂

Hello Mr Ed, how are you and your family, ok , can you tell me how I protect honey from Crystilisation my honey gets crstill in winter season
@JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff Год назад
Honey will crystallize all on it's own as long as it is pure honey. Heating it in water will return the honey to it's normal state. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

Also, honey is still good to consume even if it's started to crystalize.

Jeff the vacuum cleaner seems like it sucks very hard. Have you done any modifications to that vacuum cleaner. Do your bees get hurt after you're done God bless get back thanks

@JeffHorchoff Год назад
The bee vac has been modified so as to have low suction. The video link below is to the video I made showing how I built it. Make sure you check out next Friday's post, I show just how few bees die in the vac right after we release them. Thank you for your blessings and for watching. God's peace Gary. @JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff Год назад
That is me, but on RU-vid I call myself Mr. Ed. The name "Mr. Ed" was given to me the day I began working at the Post Office back in '82. Then, for the next 27 years while working at the PO, that is what everyone called me. When I started my RU-vid channel, because I loved the name so much, I decided to call myself that. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Jennie. Mr. Ed
