By the time the bees moved in, any fumes or residue was long gone....the bees would not have tolerated it to begin with. As far as choosing the spot to build a hive, in my opinion it was a very good one, and a lot better than a hole in a tree. @@JeffHorchoff That's a very good point. They do have a better sense of smell than us, after all. They would know even better than us if they were safe. And yes, it's nicely protected from the elements and scavengers.

I always ask for pictures before I go out. In the past, I have gone out and it turned out to be yellow jackets. I did take a bite, a big bite when I was framing up the comb. I really love the idea of videoing the process of bees repairing the comb after a removal, but unfortunately, I lack the skill and equipment to do that. It's rare for me to overlap the comb when placing it in a frame after a removal as it is more likely to touch the comb from the frame next to it. I think the only reason I would ever do that is if the comb were thin enough where the overlap would occur did not extend beyond the width of the frame. Thanks for watching. God's peace Pete. Mr. Ed

I would say yes it is. If there were any toxic fumes present the bees never would have settled there. The last drop of gasoline evaporated at least 20 years ago.
