The closing chapter for the legendary R35 generation of the Nissan GT-R takes shape with the introduction of two limited-production special editions.
Building on the changes already announced for the 2024 GT-R, the T-spec Takumi Edition and Skyline Edition pay homage to the performance vehicle that has been an icon of the Nissan lineup since its 2007 debut.
After more than 17 years of thrilling fans and exhilarating drivers, GT-R production for the North American market will sunset in October. Since its launch, the R35 GT-R has delivered supercar-rivaling performance and excitement for a supercar-beating price tag, engaging a new generation of automotive enthusiasts in the U.S., and showing many more expensive sports cars its taillights on the racetrack.
Special editions for a special send-off
Pricing for the 2024 Nissan GT-R limited editions will start at a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)1 of $151,090 for T-spec Takumi Edition and $131,090 for Skyline Edition. Both models are expected to arrive at select U.S. Nissan dealers this summer. Fewer than 200 units will be available, making this a rare and exclusive exit from the North American market.
Honoring talented craftspeople
The GT-R T-spec Takumi Edition honors the eponymous takumi master craftspeople responsible for hand-assembling each GT-R VR38DETT engine. The engine badge acknowledging the takumi will feature red-etched writing, and the engine bay will house a gold VIN plate. The red engine badge signifies an elevated level of attention to precise engine tolerances and component balancing during assembly of the twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6.
Additionally, theT-spec Takumi Edition stuns from every angle with its Midnight Purple paint job - a reference to some of the Skyline/GT-R line's most iconic special editions. The interior trim is also finished in exclusive Mori Green.
Like the standard 2024 GT-R T-spec, the Takumi Edition also receives several mechanical enhancements, including GT-R NISMO carbon-ceramic brakes, a gold-painted version of the NISMO's RAYS® 20-inch forged wheels, NISMO-tuned Vehicle Dynamic Control and wider front fenders.
Reflecting unforgettable scenery
The GT-R Skyline Edition brings the iconic name from overseas to the U.S. and references the abundant beauty found in skylines across Japan. Building on GT-R Premium, it wears Bayside Blue paint and features a stunning new Sora Blue interior color scheme. Once a staple of the car's color palette, Bayside Blue was "retired" after the R34-generation GT-ROpens in a new window. and revived in 2019 for the 50th anniversary edition model.
Sunsets always come before a new dawn approaches
While the R35 GT-R leaves an unforgettable legacyOpens in a new window., Nissan is now hyperfocused on the future and the next era of exciting innovation in performance.

@@bradwhite5884take your money and go wherever you want; the conditions to make an automobile these day are harsh and manufacturers need to invest a lot of money; only companies with tons of $$$ can afford to build halo or sports cars!, and the world is full of examples: Honda - used to have lots of sports cars..now, only a fwd performance hatchback Mitsubishi - used to dazzle the world and make ground to ground rally missiles..and now they are making none Subaru - same as Mistu, they used to be rally Gods and now, the STi bage is a thing of the past; they only make the BRZ because Toyota commissioned them and throw at them lots of money, not because Subaru wanted or had the (financial)capacity to produce a small rwd sports car Alfa-Romeo - they tried!, yet ppl didn't brought any and now they're on trajectory of building SUVs and crossovers only - and their history is only matched by brands like Porsche and Ferrari. Lancia is dead for some times now; lots of other brands are dead as well. There are zero reasons to build sports cars or supercars when you don't have the funds, the public(audience) and the company is on the brink of bankruptcy. Firstly, they needed to save the company; then, if the company still have brand enthusiasts that would be interested in spending their hard earned cash on a sports car from said brand, sure, invest and produce a vector of brand's image; until that part, the saving the company part is more important. And particularly for Nissan, everyone was interested in the new Z, yet no one is buying it!(Nissan wrongly believed heritage and brand name will get enthusiasts money but, what enthusiasts say and what enthusiasts do are two different things); the GT-R, if I remember correctly sold around 30 pcs per month in 2023 or something similar...and regardless of what keyboard enthusiasts say, the ppl with the actual funds to purchase these vehicles weren't interested in a, basically, 17 year old design car; Nissan simply kept going because they didn't have anything else to show for, nor the money to research and develop a new car/platform; most likely, they will never have them, at the point where they are now and so, what they will have to do is buy/borrow an EV platform from someone else, put a GT-R body on it, change some software, adjust some hardware and call it a day; they have zero, I repeat, zero resources to build another real GT-R. They might even lack the funds to actually build the shared EV platform GT-R but, future has that thing in which it always reveals itself in due time and so, we shall see what will happen. Cheers!

Not really. They made it too unobtainable for it's core fans. The Infiniti Q50/Q60 were the better values by a longshot. When this generation GT-R first came out in the U.S., for what it was, it was competitively priced & then 2-3 years later, with minimal changes, the price almost doubled & that was over a decade ago, we're talking way way before covid, chip shortages & the current state of inflation we're experiencing now. While my comments in other videos are usually mixed when it comes to Honda & Toyota, I am a Nissan fan, but this hasn't been "what's up," for years & I don't even care about the "old bones," that's honestly why the price should have stayed more competitive, just like Dodge did with the Scat Packs & Hellcats, obtainable almost 500 & over 700, horsepower respectively, that people could actually afford to purchase, before covid & the shortages of course, even though now, their prices have gone back down. The Skylines were always affordable powerful cars, the GT-R only exuded that it's first couple of years out & even then, it was boarder like, $70,000 about 15 years ago, is a completely different amount than what $70,000 is now. Good riddance I say, honestly.

I honestly think Lexus should offer the GX in that vertical split-door configuration. Sure, that would likely annoy some LX fans, but I believe that given the overall proportions and ethos of the new GX with the two Overtrail-based trims, it suits this type of split-door design whereas the LX had the horizontal split tailgate like a Range Rover or X5. The vertical split-door configuration is also something you'd see on pickup trucks like the Ram 1500 and Ford F150. Would it make the GX a little less practical, most likely, but at least it would give customers the choice of differentiating the GX more from the cheaper Land Cruiser that we now have in the States. You could say that the vertical-split doors are the more "luxurious option".

@@mrgurulittle7000 that maybe the case, but their reputation is soiled. What is done is done. They haven’t made good decisions since they went with the European band wagon by going electric which many people don’t want and many companies are having to retrace their steps so again. Nissan should’ve pulled the plug with Renault before it came to bite them in the rear end. I like Nissan, but not in their current state since they ruined their reputation for unreliable cheap cars.

@@toshitanaka1550Unreliable? What company makes reliable cars apart from most Japanese automakers? And by what do you mean “unreliable”? Nissan fixed their CVT issues and their engines are way better than anything from Hyundai and Subaru. Nissan gets a lot of undeserved bad rep and you’re a major contributor to it.
