This is a core principle of how and why yogic meditation works! MY BOOK: a.co/d/20O2lWu / forrestknutson www.meditative... Thank you to Doug Gemmell for the amazing music!
A quote I remembered on the similar topic- "Sitting in the silence trying to feel devotion may often get you nowhere. That is why I teach scientific techniques of meditation. Practice them and you will be able to disconnect the mind from sensory distractions and from the otherwise ceaseless flow of thoughts. By Kriya Yoga one’s consciousness functions on a higher plane; devotion to the Infinite Spirit then arises spontaneously in man’s heart." ~ Paramhansa Yogananda
Start with humming and you have a great start at: breathing, HRV, Parasympathetic system and quieting of thought. Not to mention the production of Nitric Oxide that relaxes the body.
The most amazing thing about this channel (aside from the fantastic community) and your teachings is the easily consumable and profound nature of your presentation. Thank you good sir! Have a beautiful weekend❤️🔥🙏🏼
I had been thinking for quite some time how to phrase a question to Forrest about my original mantra meditation technique compared to This Kriya meditation that he has taught me . This subject today from Forrest is spot on . For years I practiced a mantra technique that was really easy but was hit or miss . For me way less than 5-10 percent success . Some of us ( me included ) are hard nuts to crack and I would go back and forth to my old technique . Thinking that this mantra technique , going directly at the nose , or beak of the of the hummingbird, was working . At best it was satisfying but not actually setting the stage for real progress , as has been described very well here by Forrest here today. We have very good examples of the efficacy of this program by those who have come before . Just think Mahavatar Babaji , Lahiri Mahasaya , Panchanon Battacharya …. And of course many others . Finally I am reminded of what the Hari Krishna Guru , Swami Prabhupada once said we are building our next body now. So by this technique of Kriya we are building a better foundation now and for the future progress ! Thank you for this one , Forrest .
I came up with method based on your instructions that I like better than the app.. 1. breathe comfortably however you want. 2. try to find a balanced breath equal length inhale or exhale. the number doesnt even matter because they arent real. so I did 3:3 at a slightly quick pace because it felt closest to natural 3. extend it some and keep it balance so it became 4:4 for me. sink slightly deeper in comfort( if extending IS comfortable for you, otherwise stay where you were) 4. try to extend the exhalation a little. it became 4:5 for me. 5. try to extend the exhalation again if possible..4:6. 6. try to slow the pace at the same ratio. you will find you dont want to slow it too much but that slowing it some is more relaxing than where you were. It's like crawling toward relaxation. almost like try to still a pendulum. Forrest frequently emphasizes the importance of being comfortable toward reaching relaxation and not forcing yourself. I believe then the method should begin at comfort if it is so important, instead of having to remember to be comfortable or inversely finding it.
Thank you Forrest! As they say in some circles, “IT WORKS IF YOU WORK IT.” 😂😂😂 It was super amazing to see your ninja skills on display here. I never thought of grabbing behind the elbow of an incoming punch! I hope I never have occasion to, but what a nugget of victory!
Who said "I come as a thief in the night"? He lived in the Middle East in the days when thieves entered from the large hole in the roof for the fire; in other words, from above.
