Reporter Keith Downie discusses the news that Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali has been handed a two-month suspended ban and is set to return to action at the end of August providing he does not reoffend.
In the written reasons published by the FA, Tonali admitted to placing 40 to 50 bets on football between August and October of last year, including four bets on Newcastle to win.
The 23-year-old - who admitted he was aware that betting on football is illegal - played in four out of the five matches, and was an unused substitute in the other. However, the FA believe that the integrity of those matches was not called into question due to Tonali's betting.

Betting addiction are actually brutal so many end in suicide so glad he got help before ot spiralled too far. However his former club really swindled Newcastle on this. The investigation should've been made aware to Newcastle

that was dan ashworth job he got fleeced by milan the summer window recruitment has been disaster hopefully with the new DOF we can recruit some decent players man utd fans think they are getting world class DOF in dan ashworth but i wouldn't be so sure the likes of isak and bruno he didn't recruit those players he got us barnes hall livramento tonali that's about it and some academy players

Punishment is harsh just for putting accumulaters on, if it was March fixing then yes they deserve the Punishment. A racist gets around a 8 game ban

@judee6917 Italian FA already gave Tonali a 10 month ban, which is longer than what Toney got. FA had no proof Tonali made bets while playing with Newcastle but Tonali told the truth because he wanted to recover and move forward so the English FA gave a lighter ban.

You do realise he received a 10 month ban that hes still serving till the end of August??? Did you want him to receive a further punishment? And also all the evidence the FA had was voluntarily given by Tonali himself
