Watching from Britain, where throwing money at candidates is unlawful, it seems bizarre that you buy your politicians. It's not an election, it's an auction.
You are correct. Have you also observed that the USA is unstable ? We are living in the last days of the Weimar Republic. Do you remember what comes next ?
So tired of money corrupting our government. They should be running on ideas to help Americans not who can spend the most money. There needs to be a cap on how much can be wasted. So many people living on the streets when politicians waste so much in ads that tell you nothing.
We need to pressure congress to repeal Citizens United via a Constitutional Amendment. There was someone who introduced it in March 2022 but I am not sure what happened with it.
If we took money out of politics and tan on ideas, this would be a one party government. (Democrats). Republicans only have power because of money from the ultra rich and corporations. They have no policy ideas.

Howard well your claims are unfounded and rely on conspiracy and speculation and believing everyone's out to get you, then it turns out it was nonsense. Unlike the evidence against the GOP and trump which is audio and video, no speculation required just being able to listen and see.
You want to know what's disgusting? You have millions of homeless people in America, you have millions dying from a lack of health insurance. These (people) are spending hundreds of millions of dollars to run for political office. How disgusting is that.
It's true, the Europeans spend only a few months on most of their campaigns. Stateside we have a giant bonfire of wasted cash every election of 2 year campaigns (18 months too long). One of a number of reasons for generating more fake money out of thin air for frivolous waste. With endless purse strings you'd think they could solve homelessness, but they don't care.
they have 0 principles, yell about voter fraud, accept any crack pot theory with 0 evidence 0 critical thinking then trump and the GOP are caught doing election fraud, him asking people to vote 2x once by mail and in person, him and the georgia phone call asking for more votes after the election, the fake elector plot where they gave fake documents to like 7 states and tried to get mike pence to install him as king, his action on jan 6th and telling them to let the men with guns through the magnetometers and denying calls for reinforcements leaving iti up to Nancy to save the country.. Mike pence also a hero that day, he bought our democracy time.
Staggering amounts of money isn't going to make Herschel Walker Senate material. This person has to sit in the upper chamber of our Congress. Come on now! It's almost delusional that people think that he is the proper choice for their state! I saw a poll on Fox News that said as far as experience Raphael Warnock was winning, but people were actually voting that Herschel Walker had more experience! What are they telling them in Georgia?!?
The problem is how close it seemingly has to be... I don't think people understand what they vote for, well the lower educated base of the Republicans that is.
There is a man going to Washington from Pennsylvania who's brain is literally broken....it PHYSICALLY CANNOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY and he was "voted" in....and he STILL makes more sense than the guy who's ALREADY in the White House....the county is over....let's stop kidding ourselves....we ALL need to hunker down and prepare for the absolute worst....
So much money that could be used to feed children, house families, provide health care, improve schools. All for a run off that should have been a no brainer, because one of the candidates appears not to have one to start with.
I always feel that way. We gotta get money out of politics, but the only people who can vote for that are the ones who get the money. It’s ridiculous. We had money pouring into our school board race and we are one of those Title X counties. Wouldn’t the money be better spent on the education of our children?
Its even worse according to Lets Talk Elections. Blacks started to win in GA by 49%. So the racist asshole legislature passed a law saying you got to get 50% to win or runoff. So its 2022, we have to black canidates but that outdated asshole law is making them runoff still

Warnock must be voted in to win Georgia. He is doing many things for the people and is the best candidate for the job. Herschel Walker is a great football player but no politician. He has mental issues and we do not need anyone in government like Herschel.
@@chenzen1578 : Manchin was sometimes the sole vote that opposed the other 49 D Senators. That made his vote pivotal in those decisions, because none of the 50 R Senators voted with the Ds. If the Ds gain a seat (51 Senators plus the VP to break ties) it would take two defections to block them, not just one. That would undercut Manchin's power.

No one's talking about DeSantis's unconstitutional "desantisizing" Florida's redistricting map that gave the GOP 4-FOUR- more members of Congress from Florida. Florida’s Constitution was amended in 2010 to prohibit partisan-driven redistricting. the state’s Republican Legislature had drawn congressional maps that largely kept districts intact, leaving the GOP with only a modest electoral advantage. DeSantis threw out the Legislature’s work and redrew Florida’s congressional districts, making them far more favorable to Republicans. The plan was so aggressive that the Republican-controlled Legislature balked and fought DeSantis for months. The governor vetoed the lawmakers and pushed his map through. No Florida governor had ever pushed their own district lines before. DeSantis’ office publicly stressed that partisan considerations played no role and that partisan operatives were not involved in the new map. But how that map was drawn - and who helped decide its new boundaries - reveals that the governor’s office misled the public and the state Legislature. According to records and interviews, top DeSantis aides had a “Florida Redistricting Kick-off Call” with out-of-state operatives. They worked behind the scenes with an attorney who serves as the national GOP’s top redistricting lawyer and other consultants tied to the national party with people connected to the national GOP. Those outsiders had also been working with states across the country to help the Republican Party create a favorable election map. In the days after the call, the law firm working for DeSantis logged dozens of hours on the effort, invoices show. The firm has since billed the state more than $450,000 for its work on redistricting. A week and a half after the call, DeSantis unveiled his new map. It heavily favored the GOP 4-FOUR- more members of Congress from Florida-the largest gain by either party in any state- and wiped away half of the state’s Black-dominated congressional districts, dramatically curtailing Black voting power. This is the first instance where a state so thoroughly dismantled a Black-dominated district and it's success will forge a path for Republicans all over the country to take aim at Black-held districts. As predicted, Republicans won 20 of Florida’s 28 seats in the midterms and now control more than 70% of the House delegation in a state where Trump won just over half of the vote. Show less
Steven... I live in New York so I don't know anything about that. My question is this... why didn't the legislator and especially democrats sue DeSantis over this redistricting????
The money going into the Georgia race is obscene. There should be limits on what can be spent. Additionally, gerrymandering should not be allowed. In comparison, gerrymandering has been illegal in Canada since the 60's. This forces parties to run on policies and what they can do for the people.
Citzens united was a bill passed by the Republicans that brought dark money in to the voting system. You REPUBLICANS GOOGLE up citizens united . That is the reason that there is so much money in these POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS. 🤑
@@elijahbethea6313 even worst is that after Citizens United most big donors can remain unanimous if they want. Arizona and California just approved legislation designed to at least remove that layer of secrecy. Allowing Herschel Walker membership in 'the world's greatest deliberative body' would be an embarrassment for Georgia. What's in the water down there? A child can see he's not qualified.
Looking in from outside, I find it incredible that ANY Georgian would cast a vote for Walker, even if you are a "dyed in the wool" Republican. It just doesn't make any sense people.

Is anyone in Georgia concerned about the volume of ads we would be receiving through thanksgiving. Hopefully one party wins both Arizona and Nevada so we can be at Peace.
A 51st Senate seat for the D party would mean Joe Manchin could no longer single-handedly block the D agenda. But a House with an R majority would be able to block it. So perhaps the most important result of the Georgia runoff will be the perceptions about whether Trump is a loser and a fool. DeSantis probably secretly wants Walker to lose.
I agree, I have no idea why the conservative Supreme court couldn't wait till after the election to do the roe v wade thing. That energized the democratic young voters and a lot of women to go vote. I shook my head when they did that(supreme court)

Case Closed your Honor- the defense of democracy is The Boss.PERIOD.
Why doesn't Georgia just do preferential voting at the ballot? That's what they're doing in effect, but making it as inconvenient, drawn out, and expensive as possible. Get voters to rank their choices and get the same result without holding runoffs. Though it makes it more obvious people can vote third party without "wasting" a vote, so that probably answers my question. Rather keep the possible third party down than make things easier/better for the public.

Gerrymandering and Voter Suppression is GA Gov Kemp's speciality. He used these to go from Sec of State to Governor. When the Supreme court cited him for both these issues, his response was to craft a voter suppression law that has been adopted by other Trumpist legislators. It's a playbook to hurt Democrats but more to the point: minority communities. Consider most Blacks live in 8 states in the US? A bit of creative districting alone removes most of the work civil rights activist and Statesman John Lewis voting rights work. Voter Suppression laws just wipe up what's left.

Minorities alone don't have the numbers in GA to choose a candidate IF everyone in GA votes. Based on color of voters? Whites would have to help elect Warnock. Minorities can't do it alone. The race was only close because Blacks and youth came out in record numbers and those areas were BLUE. The Republicans on the other hand not show up to vote. HAD Republicans shown up, Walker would have won.
@@sdot5389 Stacey Abrams can play on a national stage. Gerrymandering and voter suppression laws hurt minority voices badly. Most Blacks live in only about 8 US states. Having said this, Abrams has some messaging issues. For example, we have a subset of Blacks in GA that will not vote for Abrams because she is against Reparations. She stated she will put money into community programs and would refuse to support Reparations. Why would she make that kind of blunder? This is a hot button. She should have at least said that she would consider Reparations as she is working on community programs. Systemic racism affects us all. It makes whites vote against their own self interest choosing party over country and it makes Blacks choose policies and candidates that hurt Black communities. A white Kemp-rubber-stamp Republican representative won in my district of 93% minority. The alternative would have been a human rights activist from Cuba. Kemp has hurt our state but Abrams wasn't inclusive enough to build a bridge. Abrams has had to work 1000 times harder just to get this many votes. These White Christian Nationalist don't make the walk easy for "others." Ossoff (Jew) and Warnock (Ebenezer Pastor) had appeal to whites when they were originally elected but as they roll forward the dance becomes about not stepping on white toes. Ossoff chose his legislation more carefully.
