Henry Cloud was one of the psychologists from KKLA radio in So California who helped me tremendously back in the early 90s with my childhood trauma. I read Dr Cloud’s books and Dr Townshend ‘s . I went to their Solutions seminar in Orange County and listened to their call in radio show 5 days a week at work. I was going through the beginning of my incest recovery process and it was the most depressing time of my life. Ty for having him on. Dr Henry Cloud has a YT channel in his name and I listen to him at least twice a week. Tune in to his channel and you will learn so much.

I am bipolar and medication for the last 20 years. I live a great life. I feel it is my responsibility to tell all I know so in case anyone is concern about taking medication for mental illness and I can support them. I think taking medication for mental illness is no different than taking medication for diabetes. It is all a hormone imbalance in our bodies that were correcting. With good medications you can live a superb life, your family and everyone around you will be happier also because you're healthier and you're interacting them as you usually do. I'm grateful every day for my doctors and my medication.

Thank God for leading me to click on this video. I never thought you would be talking about mental illness. My 20 year old was diagnosed when she was 16 and it's been hard and yes I will admit embarrassing, because of the stigma, but I am not the same mother I was prior to her diagnoses. God has truly developed me and renewed my mind through our daughter's illness. THiS IS SO NEEDED in the church. We have to talk more about mental illness. I remember my daughter telling me before the meds it felt like her brain was on fire. My husband and I had no idea, but God did. So yes I thank God for medication, therapist, psychiatrist, Jesus, Holy Spirit and this podcast😅😍

I wish there were more Doctors like him. Mental illness has always been a stigma in our culture and misunderstood. You cant seperate the body frim the mind: pain in either effects theother so theperson as a whole is hurting. This honesty gives us permission to talk about it without fear of judgement. Blessings to you all for your openess about this type of illness. Thank you!

I really needed this. I think I sometimes say I'm okay because I'm afraid I'll fall apart and collapse into a puddle of tears if I admit I'm not. This whole past year has been the worst of my life. Not just for me, but for my family. It's all been too much. Upside - it has drawn us closer to God and each other. I'm so glad Dr. Cloud talked about medication for anxiety and depression. I've been on Lexapro for the last few years, and thank God for it! Like Dr. Cloud said, it doesn't make me happy or make my problems go away, it just calms my mind so everything seems manageable. It's greatly improved my prayer life too. Before medication, my prayers were more begging, pleading, and tearful. I felt as if I wasn't reaching God. Since being on medication, I feel so different when I pray now. My mind is calm and I know the Holy Spirit is with me. Praise God!

Having a chemical imbalance that is corrected with a anti depressant does not mean you’re lacking faith. If your leg got cut no one would judge you for going to the hospital and getting stitches and a bandage so what’s the difference. God wants us to be happy and not be depressed and utilize doctors to be an extension of Him. Glad you’re starting feel better ❤️

After childhood trauma with a mum with OCD and a sister with OCD and Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I had a breakdown as a 14 year old because of what I was dealing with. For many, many years, I couldn’t listen to music from that time, and if I watched a film that had been made in the year I finally had to be admitted to hospital, It would trigger a depression, or a panic attack. Thankfully, I am not too bad now! Praise Jesus Christ our Saviour 🙏🙏🙏

Girl I feel you. My husband divorced me a year ago and I am still not ok. And that is ok. God has been there every day, even when I couldn't talk to him because it hurt so bad. I am learning what His love looks like. It's one day at a time. Thank you all for being real like this. There is a lot of rules and expectations that the Christian world puts on you by default. Jesus came and bucked the system. He cared more about people than rules. It's so nice that I am not failing by being imperfect during the trauma. it's ok to be not ok. And to not always dot it right.

I truly believe the story of Job is also largely to teach us what Not to do when we are in the presence of others who are going through severe crisis. I find that the text really reflects what victims of crime, victims of trauma, victims of medical crisis, experience from third parties when they really need comforting; they actually receive to the contrary, what Job received....judgment and distancing, suggesting that they themselves could never go through such a crisis, and that the crisis was something Job had done and brought somehow, upon himself. The scripture, I really believe it's trying to teach us that the scriptural example is Not how to respond when we see others in a tragic, dark or challenging place.

I am going through the same here, mental problems that never goes away, even my doctor is questioning me. Do not take that to the heart, because people do not know what to do, sometimes not even the doctors, because some of our problems does not have an answer, doctors do not know what to do, or don’t care to do what is right. Your friend grew up and learn to behave that way, society in general. I don’t answer anymore, because I don’t see a point in asking “how are you doing?”, if I can’t tell the truth, neither the other person, because we wear it a mask everywhere. Of course we don’t need to tell everyone our problems, but I do think it is a lie when you answered that you are fine, or that you are blessed, while you are suffering, miserable, and the circle goes on with the other person saying the same thing, they din wanted us to know that their lives are not perfect, or they are not holding everything together.

I have had traumatic brain injury since 1968 and by the time I was in my late forties when it became disabling. I have difficulty with information processing so emotional processing is a challenge. But God is gracious with me and I often compare myself to Jonathan who was King Saul’s disabled son who became King David’s close friend and even like a brother to him. Saul’s power hungry desires left Jonathan helpless but Johnathan wasn’t abandoned by King David. My Davids are in the form of peers and friends and, of course, my savior. Everyone else abandoned me because they don’t know what to do with me or even believe that I have TBI. I have learned that my Lord will not abandon me instead He blesses me with people who understand invisible disability coming alongside me and provide me with guidance and friendship and joy!

Amen to the discussion! may i also add ,that we ,as christians ,need to drop the being quick to answer someone who trying to open up , it causes such pain as the person speaking is trying to open up but isn’t allowed because the other hasn’t heard the persons heart . How can the first person trust anyone with the pain they are trying to get rid off ? From earlier on in my christian walk ,I learnt to cry on the Lord as I couldn’t find anyone ! my trust was none excisting it took me a long time to find a shoulder! Things are very different now ,my heart has been healed ,and The Lord has filled my heart with compassion and love for the broken, the outcast the rejection as it was very real in my personal life God has done great things Thank You Lord!!! I received prayer this week and was told taking my medication wasnt right, I needed to rely on God only. I've been struggling for 3 days because I felt terrible for taking it. I'm in the word, I'm praying, I know God is working. I prayed this morning for the Holy Spirit to reveal to me if it is ok for me to take my medication. Joyce is intelligent. She is practical. She teaches us not to be ashamed of who we are, what we think, feel and believe. It is better to value your belief for the present time ( your belief might change in the future) than to follow many beliefs of the world. It is an insult to God not to stand up for yourself. Just be bold to speak your mind even if people think it is wrong, dysfunctional). Then you will not be afraid of people anymore. You will have victory, freedom. The right people will support you. The wrong people ( they are not actually wrong., they are different), ignore them.

I've listened to so many of Joyce's sermons and these "Talk It Out" shows, but this is by far my absolute favorite right now. This relates to so much in my life and lives of other women in my life dealing with abusive and narcissistic relationships stemming from the same person. I feel a calling to be a safe space for anyone who is going through the same thing. It is so hard to get people to believe you when they don't see a side of a person. The gaslighting I have endured has made me feel insane. It caused me to derail most of my life. God saved me and I feel this video will be an essential reference for me moving forward. Thank you and thank God!!!

I shared with my pastor, pastor told his wife who told a few other women in the church. The gossip went on to others. I was deeply hurt. It was worse than the act itself. I do attend CR but continue with trust issues. Thank God he held me close.

As I listened to the portion of this conversation regarding Christians, in particular, not being transparent when things in their life are NOT really OK, but they say that "all is well," the Shunamite woman in the Bible whose son had died, immediately came to mind. As she went out to seek the Prophet Elisha, upon first encountering his servant, the woman said to the servant in response to his inquiry, "all is well." This woman's son had died, yet she didn't bother to "share" her situation with the servant. She chose instead to keep her problem to herself until she could get to the Prophet who could actually do something about her problem. My point is, be careful WHO you open up to. Not everybody can offer the right solution to your problem; they just want to KNOW ALL ABOUT YOUR PROBLEM.

This is so very true in the church world. If your going through something or lose something it's a terrible thing where in fact the world says you have to loose in order to gain! Job was a perfect example as the man of God said. Awesome word. Love me some Joyce Meyers. Idk t know anyone on Christian network that I pray for besides her. I want God to keep her around as long as possible. She is such a tremendous help to me and the body of Christ.

I think a lot of this "denial of reality" came along through the teachings that if we spoke what was really going on, we were "claiming" the negative. I believe in a way, this turned us into a bunch of hypocrites and or people that the world just does not trust, or feel comfortable with.

I'm not okay and when I tell anyone what's wrong they don't want to hear it. I have been isolated and people try to compare there issues with mine, even when they don't have anything even close to what's wrong with me. I have multiple traumas and have been trying to get to know God and when I reach out for help, like a ride to church , people don't want to help. I am a lost soul, where are those Godly people who want to help others as I do. People are so selfish, so where do you turn when you have no one. No friends, family or significant other. I take anxiety medication and have no guilt for taking something that helps me. Judgement is against everything God's word. "Where are my one another's?"

I know for the last 6 months or so, I have been quiet with opening up to people. This is within the church I attend. I don't feel safe to be transparent. I hate saying that, but when I would open up, it's "you need to trust God; or the conversation quickly goes to I, I, I; or they tell someone else about your conversation" and I'm like, Lord, I don't have a confidant. Who do I trust here? I trust you, but your people in the bible had someone to talk to...who do I have to talk to here? Thank you for the podcasts Team JMM.

Oh, they used to do it once a week! But the thing is that after a season ended, they would end up taking a break that lasted a few weeks/months. In other to not have to take such a long break, they opted to just do it every other week, which is unfortunate, but I can understand where they're coming from.
@faznout
@faznout 2 года назад
@@Michelleiscul - When they use to do it more often was back when it was only on audio, not video as well. But I also think the more they do this the more it helps out Joyce. Because I'm sure at times it gets hard for her to carry out this program week after week 5 days a week all by herself in front of the camera. And then try to come up with new teaching topics and ideas for each day. Especially since she hasn't been able to travel and do any new conferences for well over a year now. Which is probably the main reasons they continue to show her old footage from several years ago. But doing the Talk It Out Podcast at least once a week would definitely help her out.
@Michelleiscul
@Michelleiscul 2 года назад
@@faznout @faznout Ah, my bad, was just trying to be informative in case you were a new listener. Maybe it would help Joyce to do this program more, but they are probably planning for future events or something. Either way, I am glad that they started doing videocasts as well as the normal podcasts, and of course, when Joyce gets to join in.
