the realisation at the end that this should just be BUG with psychic frog is amazing to watch in real time. I was thinking throughout the league that a discard outlet would probably be good and psychic frog seems to be the best one of those in the current format
I'm glad you realized it in the wrapup, but psychic frog seems sick with Agatha's soul cauldron. I really love the idea of Grist with the soul cauldron too, even when you aren't going full infinite with it. Definitely lots of room to explore there.
With all these juicy Bloodghasts, would 2 Buried Alive be good for a heavier package, with Metallic Mimic gone? 3 Bloodghasts in the yard with Insidious Roots turns a land/fetch in to three 3/4 blockers. Which seems decent against some of the non-delver aggro heavy decks like Eldrazi. Or two ghasts and a Phyrexian Devourerer with Soul Cauldron gives a potential haste blowout.
I know it’s not the best card, but Reassembling Skeleton is a decent backup to Bloodghast as a way of consistently recurring a creature from your graveyard
@@ThrabenUniversity Gravecrawler is fine, but I was valuing RS’s ability to exit the graveyard at instant speed, which when paired with insidious roots can make an instant speed chump blocker
I've been playing a lot of roots in pioneer and been loving it. Scrapheap scrounger getting you two activations for 2 mana is silly lol. (One for exiling the card, one for reanimating the scrounger). I'm glad to see the shenanigans unleashed in legacy
I wonder if 'Flare of Malice' is the right removal spell to add. It pairs nicely with Stitcher, Bloodghasts and evoked griefs. Also frogs, frogs are good.
Really impressed with Agatha's in this. I thought it was just a meme card. Insidious roots however felt like the worst card in the hand at any point in time.
This deck was so cool :) I hope you revisit this concept at some point! That basic forest was a traitor though. It ruined basically every hand it showed up in, and when you desperately needed it against the wastelands it just got milled :(
Would Roots fit better into a GB Asmo-daredevil deck? That's already a deck built around looping a creature into and out of the graveyard potentially multiple times a turn.
Thoughtsize: "Target player reveals their hand and discards a card named Karn, the Great Creator, then puts a card named Karn, the Great Creator on top of their library. You lose 2 life."
in our latest local 84-player legacy tournament, i won a prize for the most epic brew - abzan cauldron: aether vial, fauna shaman, white removal, entombs as a value tutor package, lots of one-offs including a hogaak. played like D&T and combo-killed hard. it used the gy but wasn't solely reliant. the deck actually had chops, a ton of grind as well. but with MH3 out i think legacy has gotten faster, i don't think the deck would compete as it is now. i'd love to update it but i've been brewing on new things. that said i could post the list if you were interested 😊 P.S. soul cauldron is a match made in heaven with psychic frog ;)
Surprised you didn't go down the Gravecrawler route with Flares. This falls into the usual brew route where you have this fair gameplan, like how you said you can "entomb for bloodghast" in the deck tech, but 100% you never will. It's better to just go for Atraxa or Devourer for topdeck instant kills. Maybe ditch the reanimates entirely, go for classic Gravecrawler and Endurances to proc Roots?
