Quinn, another great video but just throwing in my two cents that I would love to see you actually *review* a robot vacuum for a change. I think we all value your unbiased opinion and while these videos are still great, I can’t remember the last time you did a non-sponsored robot vacuum video.
Quinn, I love your videos, and I understand that sponsored videos help you with keeping the channel up. Next time, please find a better sponsor for your channel. We watch you for your funny relaxed high quality tips and content. Ecovacs is the type of company that would love to sell you a lot of hardware and promises (not deliver) future software updates. Believe me when I say this because I bought robot cleaner from them and received only 1 sw update (bug and fixes). They did not change or fix issues with buggy software its mapping etc., and customer service is almost impossible to reach without calling them.
These are actually VERY practical. The high-end ones like this actually do a good job of mopping the floors at the same time as vacuuming. Just set it on a schedule. All you have to worry about is filling up the water tank and emptying out the dirty water tank. And getting rid of the dust out of the container as well. There are some like the DreameBot that come with actualy water inlets and drain pipes so that it's basically fully automated.
How do these Robo vacuums handle a multi floor home? Do you just lift it up the stairs and it can tell its somewhere else? Or should you have one for each floor?
All the modern ones have multi-floor support. It’ll store maps and layouts. Just take it to the next floor, push go, and it’ll return to its starting point when it’s done. :)
*We all know Quinn is not going to actually use a Chinese robot vacuum with cameras on it. I mean... anyone with 2 brain cells knows that's not a good idea LOL. They must have paid him well for this one... like really well.*
@snazzylabs Do you like this more than the T20? Btw I would rather have a deep dive from Quinn then from the mfg. would love to see long term reviews on what stays in your house and what goes.
Having a camera is a deal-breaker for me unfortunately. Wish they had a version without it. Might have to just go back to the T20 omni instead I guess.
On my roborock the camera is pointed in the wall/charger when not in use. And when in use i make sure there's nothing it can see that it shouldn’t. The biggest issue for me is giving the app and vacuum access to the WiFi so I only let it use the guest network
I wish these things could use the advantages of a camera for obstacle avoidance while avoiding the disadvantages by e.g. being offline or accessible only via a very constrained channel like zigbee, so without general internet access.
I only have sponsors that make products I like. Rather than a World of Warships ad, I prefer those that make things I like. And I very much like new-generation robot vacuums. I understand they’re not for everyone and that’s ok.
@@snazzyI understand this and appreciate it - and I find your obsession with robot vacuums very amusing and fun to watch even when I will almost certainly not buy one anytime soon.
this felt way too much like an ad. i get it sponsors are needed for the money but honestly this felt like your were just reading off a script prepared by the manufacturer. this isnt it for me. Also shouldnt you mark the video as containing paid promotion? dont think this is allowed otherwise. i didnt see the paid promotions popup so i wanted to ask.
Still much to improve. 1. It's not bagless, who want to spend money in bags. 2. Even raising the mop up still touching the carpet. 3. The base should be attached to a water line and drainage for a real no human interaction.
Does it recognize and avoid Lego? If you are looking for video ideas, you could test lots of robot vacuums to see how well they do at that challenge. Right now, my impression is that all will do badly, except for maybe big pieces and Duplo, but in 5 years not gobbling Lego will probably be standard.
@@ATDistinction There is a huge range of different sizes of Lego piece, so arguably the question should not be "Does it avoid lego?" but "How large does a Lego piece have to be before a given robot detects it?". Do you have an an idea of what that threshold is for the X2 Omni?
I like that you reply to the hate comments instead of disabling/deleting/ignoring. I don't like seeing ads as much as the next guy, but these videos are infrequent and the ad is right there in the title. If that's what it takes to do business so be it. I've been watching you for like 8 years now and I still trust your opinions that aren't paid for.
I have a Neato D7 from 2018 that is square and they had previous models older than mine so the shape is nothing new nor revolutionary. The dual option of moping and vacuum as well as the auto cleaning feature is nice though.
Idk why but i don't mind watching some robot vacuum videos from time to time. It's kinda interesting to me since i live HK, which is the most expensive place to live on earth and have the smallest apartment on average. Robot vacuum just don't make sense here lol.
@@snazzyyou have previously addressed similar comments, and while true to your word other content did eventually come, your core audience still does not seem to be taking a liking for the smart vac, smart litterbox and other such smart home appliance videos from you. Me included.
i dont understand the hate. these types of content keep food on the table and the lights on. If you dont like robot vacuums dont click the video. Plain and simple but you gave him the view just to come on here and complain. He makes TONS of videos that fit his channel and it snot like he doesnt know what hes talking about when it comes to robot vacuums, plus its still smart home tech.
Wait, I thought you DIDN’T do “vacuum reviews” based on your last appearance on Genius Bar with Jon and Sam?? 😂 Anyway couldn’t resist, always love your content!
As someone who finds this tech interesting and would have no other exposure to it without your channel, I look forward to more content like this, sponsored or not. Way too much undeserved negativity in these comments.
I mean the upgrades between every generation of vaccums is mininal (a few better sensors, a bit more power etc) Now give me a bot that can go over higher obstacles like my old style doorsteps in my apartment and I would actually buy one... 2023 and i still havent found one that can go over 2 cm for god sakes..
I don’t mind shooting advertisements to pay the bills, but please label them as [Ad] in the title, it is frustrating for people who love your regular content (esp the home content) but despise the vacuum advertisements
Here is some REAL feedback, I've had this one since day 1 (21st Sep)... The issue: Maps is junk, 1 siri shortcut "Clean", Cat hair pickup on carpet extra junk, the bot also sucks at getting out of SUPER easy locations, cant edit carpet size or location, Yiko is poor hearing the Australian accent, their customer service is poor, the app constantly times our or freezes. Honestly, im waiting for an RA I requested to return. They should help their customers beforr pushing so hard. PS, go get the Roborock Q Rivo. Oh and wont resume unfinished cleaning even when back to 100%
I disagree with the hate for these videos. I know the video I'm clicking on is an Ad and you aren't hiding that from us, but what you do best is make any topic (including adverts) interesting, informative and entertaining. If this is what keeps the lights on and the bills paid, i think it's a fantastic and minimal comprise to make. Keep it up! I love your stuff
Your channel used to be one of the best channels as you always looked at things from a unique perspective-your honest opinions were best in class, your tips and tricks are unrivaled, your content has always been very educational, etc., but recently it seems like your content is more about corporate sponsorships. I hope this is just a faze as you try and make some money to pay off your new house and electric cars, and I really hope you do not become the next Jon Rettinger. I miss the old Quinn.
It's right in the title and he's actually being slightly critical about the product. Don't watch it if you're not interested, but he has to make money.
How do these things handle cleaning behind furniture, like sofas, where there's not much room? Are they able to do do that, or do you still have to do some manual vacuuming?
Really good. That’s why I mostly like them. They don’t completely alleviate the need to clean with a proper vacuum, but they spread out the time between having to do it and they reach places that a regular vac doesn’t tend to get well.
