High drama shoot out in the 1990 "Finger Flicking Football" World Cup. Also known as the Panini Subbuteo World Cup, it's held in Rome a week before the World Cup proper. Like its elder statesman, it is run in six groups and the top two teams qualify for the further rounds, leading to the final - shown here.

The Dutch boy went on to have a bright career with a nice house and beautiful family, unfortunately life went the other way for the Italian as he couldn't deal with the defeat, life was very challenging

😂😂 We used to play subbuteo in my loft as a kid. Two of my mates had a massive fight over a controversial goal. Madness but brilliant days. I remember watching this on channel 4. I've still got it in a box somewhere on VHS.

We’ve been through a lot of fights during an almost 28 years of subbuteo leagues. I have witnessed a whole team thrown in adjacent fields, trampling on subbuteo figures, fistful guys, gypsum boards knocked down ..... the bonnet of my brand new car also tested the anger levels when conceding that last minute equalizer or winning goal ....

I'm not well-versed in European Football rules, much less Subbuteo rules, but does anyone know exactly what Italy was so upset about? Was he just not used to anyone being as good at the game as him? Or was there some sort of procedural slight that only he could see?

I also know little about this game. But it seems to me that the Italian kid was one just of those people (generally know as a$$holes) who whine and complain and get nasty if somebody outdoes them and things don't go their way...

Happens. Italians can be as pale as they come. Remember a lot of Southern Italians and Sicilians bred with the Muslims "Moors" (a made up exonym and not really a proper term but we'll know so I use it here) darkening them. What we know today as Mediterraneans weren't always so swarthy. Plus you have Northern Italian who can be closer to Swiss or German in looks.

Even my son is a furious look alike, he’s just fisted his anger on my bloody new Peugeot’s bonnet as soon as he suffered a last minute goal and drew the game against another chap!
