Ivarr's Death All Outcomes (Deny or Allow Ivarr to Ascent to Valhalla) - Assassin's Creed Valhalla 

Once he admitted to killing Ceolbert, he wasn't getting his axe.

Ivaar definitely did not deserve to go to Valhalla. King Rhodri’s wife was a nice person who’s husband was brutally killed by Ivaar for doing absolutely nothing wrong. He ruined the peace between them at the start of the arc as well, just because Rhodri gave him a scar which was Ivaar’s fault. Besides from all that, he also killed Ceolburt just to kill Rhodri.

Just finished this arc and was blindsided by the ending. I was on the fence about Ivarr most of the time, but at one point was in the camp of solidly liking him. I suspected that he may be a psychopath but rejected that idea based on his love for his brother, his mentoring of Ceolbert, and his friendship with Eivor. What he did at the end firmly cemented psychopathy imo. In the end I denied him Valhalla, purely based on the notion that Valhalla is for those who chase honor and glory. He did chase glory to the end, but went about it in dishonorable ways. There was a time when he definitely would've deserved Valhalla, being a glorious king-killer and having so many victories. But at the end I felt like what he did overshadowed all of that. There's nothing honorable about betrayal, and he betrayed both Ceolbert and Eivor.

The way I saw it is like this: Giving him Valhalla is giving Ivarr what he wants. He killed Ceolbert and broke his oath just so he could die a warriors death. Not giving him Valhalla is showing him that what he did was wrong. Ivarr acts like a child a lot, and with children, they need to learn a lesson. But on top of all that, I just didnt think he deserved it. Valhalla was for Viking warriors who died honorably. Valhalla wasnt for every warrior. Ivarr acted very dishonorably in killing Ceolbert, breaking his oath, and tricking you in his final fight with that talking bullshit. He was a great warrior, and before all kf that I would have 100% said that he deserves Valhalla. But actions have consequences, and the ends do NOT justify the means

People talk about how good the fight was but it was one of the easiest boss fights I had, I killed him so quick

To make my decision I imagined Ceolbert next to me and then I realized he still would have sent Ivaar to Valhalla

Ivar was a true Viking and even though he would do the most messed up things, I would still send him to Valhalla. But what made me not send him was the fact that he betrayed me and purposely put the mission at stake.

I gave him the axe, and sent him to Valhalla partially out of deference to the historical Ivar, and also because, at least superficially, he seemed to be Odin's cup of tea. Also, being lit on fire, and then picking up the brazier that Rhodri lit him with to pummel him was pretty metal.

Ivarr quickly became one of my favorite characters early on but not after his betrayal. It's pretty messed up thinking that Ceolbert could've been anyone, even Ivarr's brother, and Ivarr wouldn't care as he was so far gone at that point for war and battle. I wish they would've fleshed out Ceolbert, Ivarr and others more but in the games defense I felt really sad and empty after this quest, 2 deaths that couldn't be stopped and that didn't need to happen.... and the way Rhodri hangs is just brutal but is very similar to when we first met Ivarr which was a nice touch. I still have many problems with Valhalla but I remember I spawned on a synchronization point and took a good 5 minutes looking at the horizon to process what just happened with things being eerily silent than usual.

I saw the dagger and was just angry. I knew I was gonna get the option at the cut-scene. He didn't deserve Valhalla.

I denied him Valhalla not because I was angry with him, but because he used trickery and deceit to get his way and shed more blood, and also by using the blood eagle without any respect for what the blood eagle was. I read somewhere else that what Ivarr did was a big no even in Norse culture back in the day (torturing innocent people, backstabbing a kid), so I refused his axe. I still feel some guilt over it, since I denied him his preferred afterlife against Odin’s advice, but thusfar, I’ve disagreed with almost everything Odin says to me. Ivarr didn’t seem like an honorable warrior befitting of Valhalla.

Even though he did what he did, I still sent Ivarr to Valhalla out of respect for him. In AC2 Mario told Ezio to treat the dead with respect even if they wouldn't do the same to him.

I just finished this mission. GOD what a twist. Because of Ivar, Ceolbert died and the peace was almost lost. There was no way I was handing him his axe. Poor Ceolbert he wanted to hunt a boar for Ivar to make him feel better and he died the worst way possible. R.I.P Ceolbert

When I first met Ivarr he was immediately my favorite character I thought he was so cool. But then When I found out he killed Ceolburt I knew I had to kill him so I did not let him into Valhalla

I denied him not because he killed Ceolbert but because he fights dirty (no honor). He tried to calm down in the middle of the fight just to caught Eivor off guard

I was really torn in this decision. I ended up deciding to give him the axe. Whether we agreed with what he did or not, he was a true Viking. Had Ceolbert been there, he would’ve still sent him to Valhalla.

I gave Ivarr his axe, he fought and died the way he wanted. Sure what he did was super fucked up but still he died with enough honor to send him to Odin

If you deny him his axe and tell Ubba he died well, Ubba shows up and Ravensthorpe and challenges you to a fight.

Was it as obvious to anyone else that Ivarr killed Ceolbert or...

When I fought Ivarr, I had the perk where time moved slower when you dodged an attack. I use a dagger to be faster and all, so when I dodged, I had time to stab him maybe 8 times a second. After what he did to Ceolbert, he deserved it. I was legitimately torn up that he went by himself to cheer up Ivarr, and I felt like Ivarr and I were on the same page with making Rhodri suffer for what he did to Ceolbert. I really felt like I'd met Ivarr on the battlefield, and we really met there. But after his confession, just for a shot at glory, I wanted him to suffer. He only hit me once, from the brief talking we did during the fight. Otherwise, he never got in a shot. It felt ironic to me: my weapon of choice, the buildup of a warrior before only ever landing a hit due to dishonorable means, and the denial of his aspirations

I gave him Valhalla because I liked his character in general still pissed he killed the kid

The signs were there he killed ceolbert. That was ceolberts last breath ivarr(which confused me at the time). The bloody mess and way he died, ivarrs want for revenge. Still surprised me

The idea of religious zealotism coming from the Vikings in a much more philosophical sense was seriously refreshing, and historically accurate. I loved Ivar so much as a character. Stupid bastard.

When Ivarr confessed that he murdered Ceolbert, a young boy whom he treated like a son, I was so mad I wanted to inflict him the Blood Eagle. Once I defeated him, I denied him the Valhalla. He lost my respect.

What if he didn't really killed ceolbert? What if he lied just to make eivor fight him? Anyway, sent him to valhalla like what Eivor said "He's dying at least give him his honor"

I myself am welsh and seeing Ivarr betray Ceolbert, Rhodri, and Eivor I denied Ivarr Valhalla at the first opportunity

I used that grapple ability and went flying down the mountain kneeing his chin and it felt like some God Of War shit

He died in battle like a vikings should. I loved ceolbert. But i did not deny him Valhalla

After killing Ivar i would've took the king's body down & buried it in a secret place. No1 needs to tell that story & Ivar doesn't deserve the infamy. I would've then blood eagled Ivar's body, strapped him up there & left a sign saying the king did this to Ivar😂

I sent ivarr to valhalla simply bc he was one of my favorite characters. He lived his life with honor and glory, but even though he died in dishonor, he still died chasing his destiny and in battle.

Ivarr was a true viking, just being the son of Ragnar is honorable in itself but to be able to kill kings and rule an Isle is a feat worth of Valhalla.

He was going to Valhalla before telling he killed ceolburt and did the blood eagle to that poor guy

Literally only reason I changed my mind and redid this part was because Odin was all about ivarr. He loved his savagery and I could tell that Odin thought of him as a true Viking he said so himself lol.

I didn’t give it to him as it was a comfort for him and he didn’t deserve it. In true Viking form if Odin accepts him will still go to Valhalla without a weapon in hand if we are following true history.

Sure why not? Even Coelbert understood Ivar. He showed Eivor great respect and admiration to ask him to send him off .... he knew he wasn't coming out alive.

All cutscenes in this game feel and mean a lot more differently once you know Eivor is actually the fucking Odin they worship. Literally their god standing in front of them.

sent him to valhalla, but not before giving him easily the most shameful death, threw him against walls and only threw his own axes back at him, he never hit me once. edit: i also replayed the fight just to see what a melee fight would look like and hes still pretty easy. in that one the game glitched and he threw himself off the mountain and died i dont think odin would accept a death like that lol.

My decisions about Eivor's fights with Ivar and Dag; - Ivar to helhem and Dag to Valhal

I did not like Ivarr, he is a complete psycho, all he cared about was killing kings? He killed multiple people to get a reputation? They were all innocent btw. I'm still not done with the game, but this scene disturbed me in each and every way. As a Christian, there is something I love about the main Christian Characters, they follow what God says, Ceolbert was a great example. I feel like Eivor does have some mercy in his heart. Basim pisses me off!

I decided he wasn't worthy of Valhalla. It's like sending a murderer that kills for fun to heaven it's not happening although when Ivarr asks for his axe the way he said it I did feel a little bit bad but eff it he cut Ceolbert's life short and he was only a kid

I thought that he wanted to cut himself with this axe, and so I thought that if I didn't give him an axe, then it would be a choice to spare Ivarr. So I didn't give him the axe. If I knew he was going to die anyway, I would have given him an axe

I granted him valhalla I knew odin favoured him and denying him would anger the allfather. He was not a good man but still a brave coragious warrior, he deserved valhalla

I felt really bad when I denied him, and even though the voice acting in valhalla is even worse than that of andromeda, Ivarr's VA did a good job of showing his fright at being denied valhalla, it shows in the voice change.

I gave him the axe cause ivar is a warrior. Valhalla is not really a goody goody afterlife like heaven is. Odin needs warriors for Ragnarok. Great warriors. He doesn't care for how they lived or what they did in life. Or who they betrayed. If you fight and die like a true viking warrior you earn a seat in the Great halls. Ivar challenged Eivor to a Holmgang. And he died in a straight up 1v1 fight. Eivor even mentions before that in a Holmgang you do what you can to win against your opponent. That's my reason. But i did miss ceoburt. Was hoping he would be a great addition to my crew.

Ceolbert wasn't the main issue for move. It was that cheap move he pulled while you are fighting him, he was a weasel, not a true warrior. Anyone else find interesting funny that in Christianity God passes judgment but in Norse religion final judgement can be passed by anyone due to their beliefs.

Since Eivor is Odin I have every right to deny him Valhalla without consequences

I restarted my game so I could grant him Vahallah. As soon as I pressed deny, I regretted it. Vikings no matter what they do deserve Valhalla if they die in battle. That’s the rules of old

Just a theory... but I think he lied about killing Colbert. When Ivarr got the knife he said he stabbed ceolbert in the heart but it was in his stomach when u find him. Ivarr knew the wound was his torso so just told eivorr he killed ceolbert just to rile eivorr up enough to want to fight him, Or he could just have killed ceolbert. Either way he was so desperate to die in battle because vikings believe that’s the best way to go

Honestly I’m not completely convinced he killed Coelbert. I feel like there is room for doubt and speculation because we never see for our eyes or have any hard evidence. Just a so called confession from a rambling, battle drunk, blood lusted mad man, Coelburt once tells us himself there is honesty in Ivars emotions. The way he reacted to his death. Everyone knows Eivor is quick to passion. Too quick. I believe he only said what he knew would make Eivor fight him. Which is why he brings up Eivors father. I think Ivar was heartbroken over Coelbert. And wanted to die, and what better way from epic revenge and have the wolf kissed fall him in battle? Besides isn’t the pastor or priest or whoever the real traitor? Don’t we find out he’s a Templar? And if you played AC Odyssey the ancient ones don’t believe in peace. They believe the closest thing to it is war but controlling it on both sides. Sadly war brings out the best of humanity and they believe to use war to profit in all ways. And so I think the pastor being an ancient one himself had Coelbert killed to ensure war. Because Coelbert was the only one pushing for peace. And without him he knew Ivar and Eivor had no reason for peace. So I’m the end I sent Ivar to Valhalla. Because he is a Ragnarson. Valhalla isn’t heaven. It’s for people just like Ivar. And besides it never would have come to any of that if we listened to Ivar in the first place.

I gave him Valhalla. People talking about what he did to poor Coelbert and royally screwing over Eivor, while simultaneously forgetting about what Vikings did. Vikings would raid and pillage villages. Kill and rape innocent people. Burn homes, kill / steal livestock, and burn / take crops, leaving innocent men, women, and children to starve. That’s ok? But killing a friend and framing a rival to exact revenge is just waaaaay too over the line compared to the laundry list of other bad deeds Vikings were notorious for? Killing innocent children and their parents, and destroying entire villages….that is worthy of Valhalla??? But exacting revenge isn’t? 🤔

Yes i know, ivaar in this point is a complete asshole, traitor and bloody psycho killer, but is a representation of classic nordic warriors in the golden age of vikings, but that later, ubba and others escandinavian tribes are changed your costumes and life style, and of course they trying cristianism in your lifes because the vikings are tired of this life of fighting, spliting blood and stealing from the others. I mean life is more than that! And ubba was starting to understand this peaceful life but ivaar doesn' accept this peace and ubba choice

Just wanted to know ,will we meet him in future dlc whenever we go to Asgard or Valhalla like in Assassin's creed Odyssey where we met dead people in fate of Atlantis ???

I sent Ivarr to Valhalla not because I felt sorry for him but because while he was a terrible person in the end he was a true Viking and once Eivors friend. I believe Ivarr once was a true friend to Eivor but his lust for vengeance broke him and drove him mad killing his friend Ceolbert and betraying Eivor
