Thank you soooo much! I really appreciate your video! I am new to airbrush and just got an Iwata micron Takumi with the Blair add ons. I am sooo grateful watching your video as I also just learned thanks to you that the back part is the reason why my trigger was locked on place, and also I learned from you to face the paint cup forward and then turn it backwards to lock it in place. Before knowing this... my cup kept falling over. I appreciate your great teaching and I can hardly wait to see more of your videos! Thank you soooo much!

Angel, If you're gonna jump in you might as well jump in big! A micron has a .18 needle which is the finest detail you can get from an airbrush so make sure your paint is thin enough. If you are going to be doing illustration work and your work is going to be kept indoors the best paint to use is Createx Illustration colors. You will have to barely reduce them and if you do all you need is water. They spray through the micron beautifully. As far as the need goes as I mentioned, this model has a .18 fluid needle and is available on Amazon, Spraygunner and other online airbrush supply stores. Good luck with it and thanks for watching.

@@TheAirbrushGarage Thank you soooo much! Any advice you have... I greatly appreciate! I am soooo thankful for your reply and your videos! I hope to learn a lot and become a great airbrush artist like you! I am really happy to hear that you recommend Createx Illustration colors, as those are the paints that I just bought! Thank you for the advice on how to reduce them. I am soooo happy!

Not really a fan of Iwata. I own 1 NEO Iwata for over 10 years and never had any problems. My go to for airbrushes is Harder and Steinbecks. I currently have 6 and a Sato with a .5 needle. Good video, very informative. Cheers..

@@TheAirbrushGarage yes. I will definitely buy the side feed to complete the Holy Grail portrait of a Tiger on a 3x5' canvas ever since I was 15 years old. Anyways, when I used to do t-shirts; the "trigger stop"/ "limiter" came in handy once my hands started to fatigue and cramp.

I put 2 O rings on mine to stop it from screwing in and you can tighten the adjustment down on the O rings and not touch the back of the needle

The other brush you talk about with the siphon cup can be used with a gravity cup so that's a nonissue. Just buy a gravity side feed cup for it problem solved, you don't have to buy the Takumi. Also a higher trigger gives more leverage for finer control. You swapped it for a lower trigger which will give you less control. I'm using a 40 year old HP-SB with the Takumi gravity side cup adapter and a 2ml Harder & Steenbeck threaded cup on it. I'm also using the Takumi trigger with it. All of these parts are interchangeable. CM Takumis are too expensive especially when they are basically the older brushes with added features nobody uses. Older HPs go for less than $100 on eBay and they are fantastic well made brushes with proper o-ring needle packing for the utmost feel. Airbrush tech has not changed in 100 years

I pull my needle from the front and install from the front i dont like pushing that needle point first. I don't know if thats bed somehow. It doesn't seem to hurt any of my brushes in the last 35 yrs.

Great video mate, this might sound like a stupid question for a high end brush! Will this do model making paint’s if thinned according?
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage 2 года назад
Steve, not a stupid question but yes, an Airbrush will spray anything as long as it is thin (reduced) enough to flow through the brush. Hope this helps. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.

@@TheAirbrushGarage The SharpenAir device works EXTREMELY well! I was a replacer as well because I didn't wanna screw up and hurt my brushes but that device makes it almost impossible to screw up. Its fast, easy and works like a charm! Its pretty cheap too compared to the price of a pile of new needles. One of the rare "investments" that actually has a high ROI!!

Thanks for a detailed overview. Would Createx textile paints for T-Shirts and the Wicked line also flow through the Iwata Micron Takumi?
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage 2 месяца назад
Mario, any paint thin enough (reduced) will flow through any airbrush. What I will say is that if t shirts are what you will be doing I would not recommend a micron. It's just not the right tool for the job. A brush with a minimum of 3.5 or preferably a .5 needle would be best. Thanks for the question, and thanks for watching.

I'm on several of these microns and they're my favorite airbrush they're very expensive but worth the money but I also happen to have found some less expensive airbrushes that do a really great job Infinity by harder and steenbeck is another really fantastic airbrush that does a great job I compare it to the micron the micron of course is the airbrush it all airbrushes are compared to and I have to shave between the two for the money the infinity is better but the micron is the best

Hi Michael, It was not my intention to make it sound like it is a poorly designed brush. It is a very well designed brush. It works great just as is, but the addition of the Dru Blair spring and trigger even makes it better. Thanks for the feedback, and I appreciate you watching.

@@TheAirbrushGarage HI yeah it seemed that when reviewing and then talking about upgrading it already, it would inherently not be adequate out of the box. But, having said that, your intention was I think to make it 'more suitable' to your personal taste. Gotcha

The most successful model, 0.18 nozzle plus a spacious side tank, BUT this model is almost impossible to find! There is another good model with a 0.18 nozzle with a side-mounted tank, BUT it is also impossible to find! I think these are the best models of microns. There are other models with a 0.23 nozzle, but what they are needed for, in my understanding, the word micron is something small, for which a 0.23 nozzle is needed in the micron line, I don’t understand! I think if you decide to spend a lot of money per micron, it’s better to buy either Takumi or SM-SV2, the rest is a waste of money!
