IXDAO IX02T | Is This A Good Pelagos 39 Homage? 

It’s not even about resemblance these days. I don’t feel the quality one pays for in the P39, or at least it felt cheap both times I got to experience it. It’s just unfinished on all the edges and quite uncomfortable against the skin. From what I’ve seen working in the industry, it’s scary how good the Chinese have gotten at beating the Swiss at their own game. Then again, Swatch Group produces most of their watch cases and bracelets in China, so there’s no lack of know-how

@@PocketUau that’s not my experience. In fact, it’s the opposite. Nothing is “unfinished” on my P39. It has chamfers on the bottom side of the case, something that amplifies comfort. The bracelet’s links are fully articulating. There’s space between each link and a full taper to assist with breathability and comfort. The t-fit clasp provides easy adjustment for weight fluctuations throughout the day and year. The bezel and crown action are only second to Rolex. Very accurate. Titanium is a point of contention for many. I have learned to like it. At 39mm, the titanium allows me to wear it all day in comfort without ‘wrist fatigue.’ I’ve grown to like the subdued, lowkey tone of the metal. I have a San Martin. Exceptionally finished. Nicely machined. Adeptly made ceramic insert, dial, and hands. It starts to fall apart with the crown action, lack of a clutch for the crown, bezel action, sharpness of the case, bracelet, and clasp, and the low rent, off-the-shelf, cheap Seiko movement. You don’t get tons of upgrades when buying into luxury anymore. China’s current offerings gives a man (or woman) all that he needs. However, you’re paying for a level of refinement, exclusivity, heritage, originality, and so on when getting into luxury offerings. One doesn’t need those things, but some of us opt for it simply because our coin allows us to.

Yes, the edges and lug tips are indeed a bit sharp, but the sharpness is similar to something like San Martin level, not the cheaper tier like Pagani. As for the discomfort, it's more because the watch sits almost too flat on my wrist, and could just be an incompatible form factor for my own wrist as mentioned.

Have you excluded the octopus, thorne and san Martin? I'm also thinking of pulling the trigger, but nine seem perfect.
