Leonard Pryor people really need to learn what freestyle is. He is free styling over beats which means a different technique than freestyling in street cyphers. Pulling pre written verses from different songs to apply to the right beat is still a freestyling skill. If you can't do it well, I'd just refrain from calling others out that can do it swell.
I'm sick of this written/off the top debate about free styling....to me a freestyle is rapping over a random beat someone throws at you, doesn't matter if its written or off the top
aight dont get me wrong yeah logic is hard he has a flow which can switch from fast to slow which not alot of rappers can do but jcole has a flow which proper pulls you in
On the third beat he used a verse from one of his songs.. You know a person is freestyling when they take a lil time in between bars or they are thinking pretty hard about it, but when they just flowing off the top.. It's not technically a freestyle because it's some shit they wrote before..

He has written a lot for the character that he is so now it does look like freestyle when he talks lol What you see in this video is still a type of freestyle improvisation because he hasn't practiced the verses he pulls on the impromptu beats. You also haven't heard any of this "prewritten" material and he could be pulling out verses from all over th place. That's performance improvisation

This freestyle is hot. His style is well developed. He clearly has his own sound and at the same time it is a sound you can actually listen to and digest with ease. I think he is too humble and might need to work on his presence in order to assert himself as one of hip hops great's because he just might be that.
