When you high, you get different emotions. I was high last sat, came home from the party at like 3am, and just started blasting music. It felt so fucking good. You hear shit you never heard before. Do what you want. Music is music!
it's not about how complicated beats are, it's all about the composition and the feeling that is transported, and these drums just feel so right on that sample..a masterpiece, say what you wanna
J Dilla and many underground artists got me through high school. I owe it to my brother for listening to catalogs like this before me. Straight bangers
If J Dilla came on in a club you would see me dance like no human being has ever danced before. It would be similar to how your parents danced when a Bee Gees song came on back in the day. DILLA is the greatest of all time. PEACE!
+Boss Player well what it is , (I think because no one really knows ) it's just a sample from like a Rhodes piano and you can manipulate some chops to have different times like you're playing a piano. So he may have done that with the one high note towards the end of the loop pattern, or it could just be a chord that was in the sample he used. But of course he probably speed the sample up so it gives it a different effect,A high frequency . And of course the compression or mixing could play a part too
These are the kinds of beats that make you think...about everything. Everything that was lost and gained over time. Dilla's music will live on forever!
I remember in my early days of being a pothead (2009) being mesmerized by this beat pattern… I love it to this day and will always continue to share it with every single person I meet… Felicidades; Happy 50th birthday! RIP RIB J DILLA
music can make u feel emotions that ur not really thinking to much about ,, music lifts ur soul catches your ear and makes your mind wanna wander into worlds of words strings melodies harmonies gutair rifts drum loops and jazz samples so if your really love music prophess it and dont be afraid to GET LOST IN THE MUSIC " - SK
I love this beat too...but Im jus wondering, can we actually say what his best beats are? I mean even his more simple beats (according to Dilla of course) is rare...he got so much dope shit! I dont what my favorite Dilla is...all his shit causes a crook in my neck!!!!!LOL
this is without a doubt my most favorite dilla beat of all the hundreds ive heard..i remember the first time i heard it man i got goosebumbs...ive been listing to this for a whole year know..still not tired of it..this track does not even have that many elements..you can actually pick them all out easily..but to create such a beautiful soundscape....amazing..
Lyrically inclined lyrics. Eerily inspired by Jay Dilla's spiritually divine spirit. It's been over ten years since he died but every time I hear this. It's clear and undeniably apparent. The soul of Jay Dilla lives and resides inside The rhythmic vibes Of this heavenly sublime Melody that provides A limitless supply Of inspirational energy that perceptively guide The pens of emcee's to find A deep sense of zen and peace of mind. The sensational design- manipulating sound waves to hypnotize The subconscious brain to come alive. They say that there's an invisible thine line Between insanity and what modern day mankind classifies and defines as a sane mind. Perception verses reality; don't waste time. With senseless semantics debated in vain pride. Instead direct your passions and aim to apply Unconditional love. We all have pain inside. Introspective awareness enables you and I To look beyond our outer appearance and empathize. Cause we all experience fear afraid to die. Imagine if compassion became the natural state of mind. For every culture of humanity worldwide. I know it sounds crazy and insane maybe I'm Dillusional for thinking thoughts so unusual. But wishful thinking or not, it's indisputable It's the thought that counts and the thought is beautiful. Just a thought... Just think... World peace...
I have a soft spot for mellow beats. I can't help it. Even when I open up to a lot of other music, all types..I always find myself going back to smooth songs and beats. anything that makes me feel nostalgic, certainly has my attention.

saw a comment a while back that really describes Jay Dee's music for me, "Dilla really just produced the soundtrack of your life." so fucking true, a different Dilla song plays in my head for whatever mood im in or whatever im doing, even something as simple as walking home, man was a fucking true artist.
