The other version got taken down, so I bought the beat on vinyl and made it into a 15 minute loop. Enjoy my favorite piece of music of all time Keeping J Dilla's legacy alive, one beat at a time RIP JAY DEE
When I play this I see myself from third person view slightly behind, but then I turn and it goes to overhead, look up and back to third person... the beat is there but I can't catch it.
That ‘slap-snare’ is ordering your attention to the seductiveness that surrounds it. If I could marry an instrumental I’d propose to this one. Rest In Music JDilla ✊🏾
I left a comment on this video over a year ago saying how this was my go to song for doing school and life in general. I'm a month away from graduating highschool now. I know J Dilla's music way better now and I've learned so much since I left that original comment. This beat goes on forever. I'm finalizing so many things to graduate and close one chapter and start the next. I'm starting my career as an artist and J Dilla has become one of my main inspirations for living by my art. If you took the time to read this, thank you. Thank you J Dilla, I'll keep this one bumping forever, rest in power.
Deam man, sounds not only great you doing good in live, youre having great inspiration. I`m at the same Point, just seen 2 different comments about from a year and while looking back, so much happened till then. Where can i find your music?
Ayo, good on you for moving on your dreams. If you ever get discouraged remember you're in it for the marathon. Part of winning is failing so you can learn something. Best wishes Peace
good shit!!! i feel that way about ALLOOOOT of rap artists ,(old &newunderground ,some turned into trends for apps unfortunately . but i got to experience some peace with it for a while when i was growing even tho it was mostly by myself and i never got to (keep) sharing with anyone like that. but it means we r meant to do something with it 😊 ik i will always be humble and cherish it
He really made magic, I remember being obsessed with this beat like 3 years ago to the point that I woke up with it and went to bed with it because it always made me feel good and calm physically and mentally. Coming back to this now after a long while not listening to it and it makes me feel the same good way it always made me feel, this just proves that Dilla made timeless magic, the beats are filled with soul and substance not just baps and noises being chopped up, it has meaning and that is something like life, it makes us feel the whole mystery of it without really knowing exactly what it is but it makes us feel good and happy.
Exactly. I find my favourite songs use beats that are from a totally different era. I was running through Aquemini a few weeks ago and realized that J.Coles Land of the Snakes takes Da Art of Storytelling pt 1’s beat 🤯
Wow!!!! The trust he has with the simplicity of the grooving melody!!! Dilla worked our souls!!!! Simple bass line, pretty piano! Then the beat DROPS OH MY GOD!!!! I am a fan of "DILLIA
I found this about 3 days ago and have been keeping it on repeat. The more I listen, the more I hear. The depth is crazy in this man's music. his art. BLESS!
Just finding out about this guy. Cleaning my house to this beat for the past 13 minutes & now I have to go down the rabbit hole of Jdilla discography. The beat literally put my dog to sleep. So peaceful. RIP JDILLA you can never die because your spirit lives through your music

Music is life. Music heals. Music is the solution. Lessons from jay-dee Rest In Peace J-dilla
This song is like an Open Space for everyone who can't get it physically .... This is such a powerful Instru'mental , what we need to be free from this Hennessy. J Dilla is for sure one of the most wonderful God gift
I come back and listen to this beat everyday. During school or just sitting in my room. What a masterpiece. I'm 16 and I wish more people my age could appreciate art like Dilla's.
Maaan. If you are today's teen generation, world is still doing really well. I caught up on Dilla back in 2003 and never get enough of his work. Tribe, Busta, SV. Btw: Frank N Dank 48 Hours LP is his best body of work IMO. Be well brother. Peace out
@@fazolkatorres7865 I love tribe so much. And same, I just do not stop listening to 90s and early 2000s deep tracks. I'll definitely check out those two! All love
A rapper that goes by the name of “Lute” and is signed to j coles dreamville label used this song for a beat on his song called “still slumming” which is the first time I had ever heard this beat this just tells me how great j dilla really was and how relevant he still is.
Has any one even noticed what’s going on in the background? Not all, but pretty much a good amount of James’ beats will have some unique sounds playing in the background. Once you sit N listen for quite some time you’ll begin to not even hear what’s obviously playing that keeps us all so in love with this beat & notice something new! Then I’ll be like “WHuuuTt”? Open my eyes & put my ears a little closer to the speaker or (turn up the volume) & it ain’t there no more? Which I know it is I’ve just realized that once I took my focus off it, it was practically back to sitting down for another 15-30 min to try and catch those sounds again lol
How does a mf human being create this….yet only a human can grasp such emotional intelligence in music. This shit is on the in and edge of time and human emotion this man created something beyond the realm of earth and of himself. This is painted with the brush of experience and enjoyed by the ear of peace. I forgot to say peace my friend, “peace” you all know.
So well put. I’m constantly trying to put words and meaning to his music and I think you hit it. It’s like something I’ve experienced before but have no conscious thought of it. It just fits
had the pleasure of doing a bit of work with one of his former associates in slum village (titus /batiin) shortly after he passed; sadly, they are now gone as well. the best have left us
@@DenzMediaa we were throwing together lyrics over a beat his cousin made. he knew his craft, that was good to work with. he also had a complex personality and behaviors, which was difficult at times.
@@gregorygraham4117 a distinctively talented & unique person/ musician 🥲 it’s incredibly sad his family had a history of mental health issues and he suffered as a result. I also hope he has more music out there somewhere.

Check out the fragments he sampled (i.e. Perigeo - Via Beato Angelico) for this joint and you understand his supernatural talent. The same for his joints "Sunbeams", "Nag Champa", and so many others. His tapes "The 1996 What Up Doe Sessions" and "The New Slave" are masterpieces (among others). Still baffled by his talent and vision.
Type of song I be bumping after I clock out of work and my boys tell me to pull up to the spot with a 32 of cheap beer or sum. Skate down to the local liqour store, and sit on the roof with my boys to watch the sun set on a friday night. Doesn't get any more organic than that, does it.
His beats are so weird to me i feel like the music isnt doing so much structurally but Sonically it’s doing everything it has to to satisfy my ears rip j dilla! your different!!
J Dilla was such a dedicated and passionate Music Producer. THIS one is definitely one of my Favorites. Those Vibes, Basslines and Sounds are so uplifting and meditative. They instantly trigger my Mind wanting to write poetry and rhymes as soon as i hold a pen in my hand.
Thank you for putting this up. slowly but surely i found this becoming a go to beat to have going while I worked and wrote and bumping it for hours on end
You got to leave a legacy of things. Leave the world with messages of inspiration and motivation. Make Art that is gonna last centuries. Paintings films drawing sculptures designs buildings dance videos dance performances. Be a blessing like all the greats. Be a Virgil to all the people coming up. Be a Dilla to all the people that will love your music. Let God guide your paths and bless you each day you’re alive.
i listened to this every night when i was on vacation near the canadian border. i would watch cruise ships slowly pass by the windows of the airbnb, it was incredibly serene
This beat brings me back to a certain unspecific time and place in my life, or better a certain time-period. For me, it captures the feeling and memory of this time exactly, in some weird way. The smell of the winter in that time, the view from my window where I lived at. Funny how certain sounds have the ability to do this, isnt it?
It's a nice tune. Mellow beat, to space n infinity. The way it should be. Respect. Let's try to discover more of his work. Bless J Dilla. One Love people. Bless everyone.
