NO KIDDING, HE WAS AN ORIGINAL. TIME TRAVELER
@stpedro-ht9ng
@stpedro-ht9ng Год назад
it's because they're trying to be get money from playlists on youtube and spotify but the playlists won't take stuff with samples unless they're royalty free so these producers just make super bland MIDI chords with an epiano plug-in and they don't really go into a reconstructing the soundscape you would get from sampling off wax. It's a difficult process and is very meticulous. I've tried doing it to make my own samples that sound like a 70s record and if don't have all the expensive vintage gear it's a time consuming process. They also don't recreate the feeling of sample chops. The jarring jump between one chord to another from different parts of a track are also something you don't get with just drawing out the MIDI chords using a plug-in instrument. You would have to intentionally make a different chord progression and then reverse piece it together into a different progression which you may not have control over unless you're patient and open to a lot of trial and error experimentation. You can see the process of sample chopping on my latest video. (obviously it took me a lot more experimentation to figure out the order of the chops to play on the sampler on my own) There's also the lack of originality in the sounds because when you're crate digging and sampling, you're combing through a rich history of instruments and hardware from hundreds of different hands that have created and designed them. You're not just the 97th millionth guy pulling out Omnisphere bells. So sound design and creativity be damned, to make as many beats as possible to spam playlists just do the bare minimum.

i started making beats in 08’ because i was so inspired by this dude. in 18’ i also quit because of this dude (didn’t do it as seriously). when someone like him existed what’s the point? it was a hard pill to swallow but i accepted my fate. i honestly have some good jams and i still create because i love it but he never be touched. RIP master.

This is soooo true! I couldn’t put my finger on it at first, but you hit the nail on the head. The new lo-if is so mundane. It’s missing the soul, which in my opinion, is the most important part.

It's funny how a whole sub genre was built off of this guy's beat tapes... like; it's not like he deliberately decided to record to audio cassette tapes, those were just the the times, and cd burners/blank discs were very expensive and not as popular at this time. Imagine that; a whole sea of fish biting your shit, and trying to get it to the same fidelity when the fidelity in itself, was not at it's full potential because it was on tape... talk about irony. That just proves how beyond epic this guy's beats are. ~*shots out to Nujabes too, I mean, these two guys made "lo-fi" without actually making it, to me that shit's legendary in itself.
