What's really funny is in a more recent quiz J and Ben get into a massive discussion about the ropes spell and what it's called, arguing it's something else hahah, forgetting this entirely
Ron didn't go into the forest in the Philosopher's Stone because he was in the hospital wing with a burn from Norbert! Harry and Hermione were out of bed delivering Norbert to Charlie in the Astronomy Tower and forgot to put the cloak back on coming down the stairs. Malfoy got caught trying to catch them, and Neville got caught trying to warn them. In the film, it's more straight forward. Malfoy catches the trio in Hagrid's hut witnessing Norbert being hatched, and goes to tattle on them, getting caught out of bed himself, so in the film it is Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Malfoy.
This is where Ben's Movie knowledge is overtaking his Book knowledge. J is much better at the Book knowledge!! I must admit that my movie knowledge is better as well.
Cassandra Müller I don't feel like J is a bad winner, he isn't at all rude or demeaning about it. They are brothers after all, there is going to be a little ribbing and teasing about things.
There was a Slytherin kids who saw the Thestrals as well: "There were only two other people who seemed to be able to see them: a stringy Slytherin boy standing just behind Goyle was watching the horse eating with an expression of great distaste on his face, and Neville, whose eyes were following the swishing progress of the long black tail. " Page 445
Yess! It must include Hinkypunks! And grindylows. Welll... one or the other is acceptable, but it MUST have at least one! The chat Harry has with Lupin next to the tank and Lupin displays real warmth and interest was always a big deal scene for me. I love Lupin, always loved Lupin.
Neville seen his grandad die. Umbridge asks him about it Professor Umbridge smiled indulgently at them and then turned to Neville. 'You can see the Thestrals, Longbottom, can you?' she said. Neville nodded. 'Who did you see die?' she asked, her tone indifferent. 'My...my grandad,' said Neville. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Chapter 21: "The Eye of the Snake"
Actually, in Hagrid's class three students could see the thestrals Harry, Neville, and Theodore Nott (a Slytherin). This is bothering me more than it should ;)
tgbluewolf No you don’t have to see one to ride one as shown in the fifth movie although I don’t know if that is considered book canon as well. I unfortunately can’t remember
Pretty sure that a random (unnamed) Slytherin could see the thestrals too. But they didn’t put him on the list because they never said his name in the first place.
I too vote for a "His quest is insane. Stop it now, please." and a "Have you even read the books?" shirt. ("Have you even read the books?" should be centered around something HP related. The Insane Quest shirt should, of course, be presented without context)
To be exact when they meet Aragog they learned that the girl who died was killed in a bathroom and later they made the connection that it was myrtle. “The body of the girl who was killed was discovered in a bathroom. I never saw any part of the castle but the cupboard in which I grew up.” Page 278 in my copy
Thank you. I was screaming this at my screen because they didn’t know myrtle was the girl yet. They were like “what if she never left?” And that’s how they figured it was myrtle
According to my mother once when she read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, when we read about the vault robbery I said "I think it was mister squirrel!" And when she asked why I pointed out that how it worked in her cop shows. Main character meets a friendly seeming stranger near a place where a crime happens, it almost always was then unless they were being used to misdirect your suspicions.
Moaning Myrtle tripped me up, too. They already knew that a girl had died, but strictly speaking, Aragog only tells them where she died - in a bathroom. This is the definite clue to her identity, but the two only figure it out later.
Yeah, but the staff atleast (dumbledore and Minerva) must have known the identity of the girl, and minerva was a student then if i remember correctly so she could have investigated when she started working at the school even if dumbledore didnt
A Slytherin boy also saw the thestrals! He isn't named, but identified as a "stringy Slythering boy standing just behind Goyle." Hagrid was about to comment on the Slytherin boy, but Draco interrupts him. Just thought everyone should know! Keep up the great videos! Also you should always show in the books the answers, like you have done in the past with debatable answers.
That is explained in the books I believe. You both need to witness death and understand what just happened to be able to see the thestrals. Harry was a baby when his mother died, his baby mind could never process what just happened. He grew up without even remembering he ever witnessed it until he started hearing that moment when he encountered dementors. It was only when Cedric died that he trully saw and undertood what it was to see someone die.
11:35 when they look at eachother realising what just happened. I've honestly watched the "have you even read the books" moment 10 times and am laughings so much I started crying :')
Ron got bit by Norbert and had an injured hand - stuck in the infirmary. Harry & Hermione went to return Norbert (later caught by Filch and got detention), Malfoy tried to snitch to McGonagall (gets detention for being out of bed), and Neville tried to find Harry & Hermione to warn them but was also caught by McGonagall. Therefore just Harry, Hermione, Neville, and Malfoy got detentions.
However the question was actually «Select all that apply» and Nott was not one of the names :) I ticked of Dean because I also knew that it was three students (did not remember the house of all).
Ron wasn't with them because he got bitten by Robert a while back, hence he wasn't useful in carrying the cage with Norbert up to the Astronomy Tower, etc, etc, etc...
Um... do you actually not remember about Norbert? Ron is in the hospital wing so Harry and Hermione have to take Norbert to the Astronomy Tower by themselves. Draco sees Charlie’s letter in the book he “borrows” from Ron in the hospital wing so he can gloat and threaten Ron with telling Madam Pomfrey what really but him. Neville hears that Draco says they have a dragon, so he tries to warn Harry and Hermione but he also gets caught by McGonagall.
In another video one of them admits to not read the first books very often, usually reading from the fourth book forward. Could be lack of reading and mixing it up with the movies :)
It was one of the questions I missed too. I remembered Norbert but not that Ron got hurt by him. I'm currently rereading the books but I'm only at the first Quidditch match of book 1.
@@moathewolfcub3020 bit of an old comment but I usually do the same. I read from the4th book and on. I do love the first 3 movies, but the first books tend to be a bit too much written for a younger audience. Loved the books ofcourse when they came out and I was at that age.
Matsistdas I think it was more along the lines of he was having a very bad reaction to Norbert's bite so he was up in the hospital wing, but it amounts to the same thing. I kept thinking that it was because he was scrubbing awards for Filch, but that was in Chamber of Secrets when Harry was serving detention with Professor Obliviate (I can never remember his name...)
Watching you do all these quizzes this week makes me want to re read the books and remember all these answers and notes lol. it makes me want to write all these things down in a notebook ha
Because of Hogwarts a Mystery I wrote down all the kinds of Dragons and all the information about them I could find in Fanweb or what ever it is called.
Yes, the selections are randomly generated for some strange reason... it would make more sense to have the selections themselves randomized, not the order, if they were trying to prevent cheating on a worthless test.
@@jaysonsk Oh, when does it say that? I didn't remember it being mentioned, but I haven't read the books in a few years. I don't think the movies ever specify her year.
Gahh! I thought you guys would be breaking down the new Crimes of Grindelwald trailer! It is killing me that you haven't done it yet. I have sooooo many thoughts and emotions about it and want to know what you guys saw/think too!!
*_Have you even read the books!?_* ... *That just happened...* The best! I just kept repeating it. Also I love the man who reads the questions. Put the laugh after high five to the slowest tempo. Close second place to have you even read the books. 😂😂😂
@@lucafinn5194 He isn't named in the book (at least in that scene, he's named later (and described as weedy-looking) after Harry gives his interview and names their fathers as Death Eaters.
Ron was not in the forest for detention, because he was at the hospital wing at that time. And the detention wasn't for visiting Hagrid, but because they had been at the astronomy tower during the night, giving Hagrid's dragon to Charlie's friends. They left the invisibility cloak upstairs, so Malfoy with professor McGonagall caught them. The movie totally messed up that scene. Edit: I'm pretty sure one of the Slytherins could also see thestrals. I don't think his name was in the book, but he definitely saw them. He stood next to Goyle during the lesson. There's a mistake in the quiz.
@@clarabrito223 his name was actually mentioned somewhere? Or is it a trivia we can find on pottermore? I'm curious because he wasn't named while introducing us to thestrals at Hagrid's classes, was he?
Harry and Hermione were taking Norbert (under the invisibility cloak) up to one of towers to meet Charlie's friends at midnight. Malfoy is out of bed making sure Harry gets caught. Neville is trying to warn Harry about Malfoy. Ron was in the hospital wing because Norbert bite him.
Hey guys, how about this......Individual Harry Potter Questions. you both make up 20 individual questions for each other, so you will spend a few days making you're 20 questions for the other. (Good quiz to really see who knows what). so Jay will ask 20 questions to Ben and vice versa, they will need to give the questions and answers to a referee and the sources they got them from in case of any disputes. RULES: 1. Only questions from the 7 Harry Potter books NOT the movies. 2. No questions from the cursed child or fantastic beasts. 3. They ask the questions, not the referee. GOAL:Ultimate bragging rights. ENJOY!!!!!
Rob Fab Videos No there not sometimes the movies change things and make them different. They may be important yes but they are not cannon. If they are it causes a LOT of problems.
Neville says that he saw his grandad die when unbrige asks him in the inspection. Also for that question a third person is stated to seeing them. An un named slytherin student as well Think I got 2 wrong one being how many chapters with the name forest in
18:26 The quiz is wrong here and I quote the book "There were only TWO other people who seemed to be able to see them: A STRINGY SLYTHERIN BOY STANDING BEHIND GOYLE WAS WATCHING THE HORSE EATING WITH AN EXPRESSION OF GREAT DISTASTE ON HIS FACE, and Neville, whose eyes were following the swishing progress of the long black tail. Page 445 Chapter 21: The Eye of the Snake Check yourself if you think I made this up.
7:49 Ron was bitten by Norbert and was in the hospital wing, and Harry and Hermione were just after bringing Norbert to Charlie's friends. Draco was telling McGonagall and Neville was trying to warn Hermione and Harry
5:30 Hagrid said "safe" to mean 'secure'. That it's the hardest to break in there. Gringods is plenty dangerous as it's huge, damp, icy cold and has countless monsters as well as several dragons.
18:35 I'm pretty sure that Neville can see Thestrals because, while Frank and Alice are technically still alive, they don't actually remember who they are and therefore the people they were are dead. Now they're just empty shells. At least, that's how I always interpreted it? Harry obviously didn't initially see Thestrals after his parents died because he wasn't old enough to retain the memory of his parents being alive and therefore couldn't experience the grief of it. However, Neville can still visit his parents in St Mungos and he is confronted with the fact that he has lost them despite them still being alive and experiences that grief every time he sees them. Therefore, he's able to see Thestrals.
Oh my gosh it’d be so fun to watch y’all do Harry Potter letters on amazon Alexa, it’s just a game we’re you go back and forth with one letter but it’s super fun!
@@goshdoggett but they deduce it he doesn't tell them that. They don't learn it from Aragon directly. And just as much deduced from Moaning Myrtle herself as much as what Aragog says to them.
Technically Ginny also has detention in the forest. In book 7, while they are camping, they hear from Phineas Blacks painting that Ginny and some other students were sent into the forest for attempting to steal the sword of gryffindor.
