I love the fact that the girl with purple hair and space buns is the new leader of the rave in the new episodes, making sure the kids attend a safe rave unlike the ones she used to attend❤
This goes throughout the whole show. One of my favorites being the warriors of Demongo. At some points they use looping animations but every character is distinct and interesting
I love how body movements are clearly a part of their everyday functions. They almost recognize Jack as an imposter simply because of his lack of movement. They begin mimicking Jack's fighting style from the moment he starts dancing. They are clearly excited to learn a new dance style. Then in the reboot it's shown those dance moves actually filtered through the entire society, with minimal changes and without losing context. Then they actually remembered the movements for years and incorporated it into a form of reverence for him. Again, because they remembered the context! THEY ARE LIKE A HIVE MIND!!!
I love how creative this show was. No dialogue, no nothing really, just a situation. You get everything from just what you see. The music pounding on your eardrums and all you see is what Jack does about it. He doesn't talk, doesn't mumble anything, just tries to fit in while everyone gets brainwashed. It's a loud and very quiet scene at the same time. Brilliant now that I look back on it
you are using the word "brilliant" extremely loosely dont you think? jack talking or not doesn't really change the scene at all, there's nothing deep or meaningful about the fact that jacks usually quiet. the scene is fine. but brilliant? thats just looking to deep into something that isnt there.

in the Samurai Jack world hypnosis only works if you are interested in the thing that is hypnotizing people. Jack didn't fall for this because he hates the music and same thing happened to The Scotsman when he faced the sirens.

people at raves and festivals use pacifiers to keep from grinding their teeth. some people when they take molly or other rave drugs, they have this habit to grind their teeth or chew on their lip. I usually bring a few packs of gum for people who have that issue
If anyone is wondering what genre this is... it's "acid" in so many ways: acid techno, acid house, acid trance... but above all else it's acid. It incorporates the sounds that were the trademark sounds of the Roland 303 & 909 synthesizers. The pinnacle of synthesizers that drove us mad late into the night at these parties called "raves". I'm so glad that I wasn't the only one who picked up on this. This entire episode has a lot of references to the rave/house scene of the mid-to-late 90's and early 90's. For those of you who don't know: Britain was blessed (or plagued, depending on who you speak to) during this time with impromptu, illegal events that took place over the weekends that played dance music. Organizers would agree to meet up at a certain location, trespass on property, setup their equipment, and host the location for a music event. Those attending were given the information via word of mouth or over the phone (getting to the party was half the fun sometimes). Some events had thousands of people in attendance. All trespassing, most popping drugs, and all enjoying music that carried out to five miles. You're right about the genre, too. It's definitely symbolic of the music of the time, namely acid. @Maria Not sure what speedcore is, but it definitely isn't that.

***** Used to call them cyberkids/Crasher kids back in 2000. I don't know it's as popular to dress up like that as it was back then but you should still find them, particularly at hardcore events like Slammin Vinyl or Hardcore Till I Die.
DavidJeFaca bruh, as a non druggy who has been to multiple raves, just bring your own bottled water and don't leave it lying around. You will not be forced to take drugs, nor will drugs be necessary for you to enjoy yourself. Get some friends who have gone to some raves to take you and just have fun.
The writers of the show genuinely created one of the best sets and settings for any cartoon show of all time. The fact that Samurai Jack is set so absurdly far into the future and the only real constant is that aku rules the world allows for such incredible creative freedom… the writers really took this show above and beyond. amazing to revisit again and again!!
What I find cute about this is that in the episode where Ashi happens upon this same rave in final season and she mentions Jack, everyone started doing the exact same dance he was doing here. That was a nice detail added in only the biggest fans would notice.

i stil l remember seeing this the day it was first aired. took a digital recorder i had gotten for my birthday earlier that day and recorded the whole episode's audio on it. listen to it for years till youtube came out. its nice an unedited version of this has been leaked :P still hoping for jack attack to get leaked though.
whats funny is that when i watched this episode as i kid, i was always confused why he was sucking on a pacifier... now i learned that at raves, people dip their pacifiers in bowls of ecstacy and lsd and sucked on it to get hardcore trips haha
No. But your kinda right. They used those to not grind their teeth since when they took MDMA one of the side effects was teeth grinding. So they used those to help stop griding their teeth. But there was also a negative side to it. Them using that was a way to show that they are the ones doing the drugs and not everyone else. So it also picked them out from the crowd. But now people just use those to look well colorful and cool I guess. But yea that's what it was originally used and meant for. I'm really big into raves so yea sorry for all of that. Iol
Headcanon: Aku was trying to use the rave music to train his child soldiers how to fight. The dance moves after their eyes turn red, and the speed with which they picked up Jack's moves seem to point to this.

@@emirmaslo4054 I dont think its even a NEW word. I swore I read it in counterculture comics about hippies and stoners from the 60s-70s. Its basically equivalent to "digging it" or "groovin". Just wasn't as common vernacular.
I find it funny, that people during the new season said "Wow the writers blended together new and old content together so well when Ashi was looking for Jack! Bringing old faces and making up new faces like the rave kids for her journey." Seems like people don't remember this episode.
As a kid this made me always think raves were held in forests around our town, and at night hearing music from passing cars I thought there are teens in the forest just partying like this every night lol.
when i rewatched ashi at the rave i put the pieces together saying *oh... so that what she meant by countless innocents* cuz some fans felt ep6 was bad but i liked it if she kept meeting allies it would take away the fun in trying to guess who would join the final battle atleast imo like the spartans for example (a friend of mine actually predicted robo samurai) sure they didn't do much but whats important is they acted like a rebellion a symbol of hope besides every fan should know that the sword can only truly hurt him anyway somehow i don't think we,ve seen the end of jack yet

My guess was cos he was clearly much older and taller and even for a raver looked a bit ridiculous. So they were probably thinking "oh god whose the dork that brought their dad here?" Or wondering maybe if this isn't their particular first cycle of music brainwashing, whats up with this newcomer, is he a spy?
