There are Buster Keaton, WC Fields, Abbott and Costello, Chapman and many others. John Cleese said he preferred WC FIelds over all the rest, including L&H.
So ... at some point, in the writing, Stan decided that Jitters should crawl under the table, and Mrs Fox climbs over it! Adds SO much to the madness of these two characters ... and I love it! 😂
most of their films sums them up perfect timing and laughs galore wish they were still here making us fans non stop laughter hope Stan and Ollie r happy where they are god bless
Yes. Modern entertainers just don't have the same touch. People today don't have that simplicity anymore, they don't have the same style wit, plus they all have the mistakened flaws of thinking that more and louder is better, the need for in your face exaggerations, and that clean humor doesn't work anymore and always feel the need for sexual innuendos and gross-out humor
@@scottrussell1006 yes, they're all great. I love Groucho Marx, there's never been anyone else like him. Chico also. Them and L&H, those 4 guys were the very best of all the Golden age comedy. The Three stooges, W.C. Feilds, and silent comedy kings Charlie Chaplin and Keaton were not far behind, not at all
Stan's confusion at the imaginary dinner combined with him throwing in his playing along about it (losening his vest, throwing salt over his shoulder) was all hilarity that very few others could pull off so well
Jack Barty was a very versatile British stage actor and writer. Stan and Babe visited the UK in 1932 and saw Barty on the stage. Hardy suggested he should go to Hollywood, which he did, and joined Roach, almost totally as a writer. This is the only Roach film he appeared in, and his main Laurel and Hardy connection was as the co- writer of the movie Sons of the Desert.
Thank for this information. Far more than you can find on Wikipedia. All the performances in Oliver the Eighth are wonderful. Barty is clearly an outstanding talent. I was very interested to note that he was a co-writer of the Sons of the Desert film.
Clive. We must feel sorry for them. There is hope for them yet ! My wife didn't enjoy comedy at all when we were first married, but she enjoys L and H now !
I agree, great. But watch Steve Martin Marty Short. Comic genius. You can tell they like each other. Laurie and Frye. Esp. Wooster and Jeeves. Jerry Lewis said his happiest times was working with Dean Martin. Great teams.
What a shame the youngsters of today, are not brought up with this timeless comedy. In the not too distant future, people will have no idea who Laurel & Hardy were. And that's a real shame.
The subtlety of their reactions are just brilliant and I can’t help laughing out loud. Happy days enjoying their antics with family when I was a child 🤣😍💗
Fenomeni, assolutamente geniali, attori inarrivabili, non ne nasceranno più, hanno fatto innamorare generazioni di persone, semplicemente immortali!! 😘😘😘
Thanks for pointing Barrty out. I’ve always known and loved Mae Busch, but I was unfamiliar with Barty (although I’ve seen Oliver the Eighth), so I looked at his filmography and I see that he was an uncredited writer on Sons of the Desert! Thanks again.
In india people often said new generation is intelligent but I don't believe. Laurel hardy chaplin set benchmark which no generation ever touched. All generation since 1930 till end of universe gonna love this
