SCHEDULING NOTE: Weekday posts for April and May 2018 will be devoted to posting all available episodes of the Jack Benny TV Show that are NOT part of the syndication package of 100 filmed episodes. Most of these are live shows-- nearly always better than the filmed counterparts, even when the scripts were repeated nearly verbatim. There are also a good number of filmed episodes that have been circulating among collectors, but have never been rerun on TV. Some, certainly not all, have been widely available on RU-vid in varying degrees of quality. My goal here is to present ALL these videos in one organized place, with accurate program information and in the best video quality possible (I often had many versions to choose from, and often did significant a/v cleanup on shows that needed it.)

Johnny Carson was not lying when he said that he studied Jack Benny and throughout his career he used Benny’s mannerisms when he performed his monologues on the Tonight Show..,
@Nick-ty9us
@Nick-ty9us Год назад
Yeah, you can see on the Tonight Show monologues Johnny Carson did indeed study Jack’s movements

I have liked Jack Benny ever since I first saw him on TV when I was merely a young child. Johnny Carson had admired Jack Benny so much that while Johnny Carson was hosting The Tonight Show he would have Jack Benny on at least a couple times a year.

Carson had two early mentors. Red Skelton, for whom he was a writer and Jack Benny. Pretty good company.

It's amazing seeing Johnny Carson this young, i guess he was Jack Bennys Protege and he had him or was garnishing him for success. So it pays to hang out with older and much more experienced people in all respect

Carson has Jack Benny's hand movements down to a precision watch, especially the movement towards supporting his cheek and one side of his chin with four of his fingers.

Jack stated in this skit that his address was "336 N. Camden Drive" - that was the long time Beverly Hills address of a store selling acoustic stringed classical music instruments (guitars,mandolins,violins/violas, cellos, etc.), IIRC. They went out of business in the early 1990's, and then the famous Christie's Auction House, which Jack's character would never have attended as they auction luxury high-priced items, opened a salesroom at that address.

At the time, that was the first address of Jack's production company, "J & M Productions"....which was his home away from home when handling business and professional matters.

"There's a time and a place for everything" (Lucky Strike Ad) well the time has come for the end of cigarette smoking, thank god they have banned these ads on television, now we have to get those terrible gambling ads banned now, they are destroying our society. Jack Benny is one of the best comedians of the 20th century, his timing is everything......😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣

Great stuff with young Johnny Carson. But the cigarette ads are really something. How could anything that looks so appealing in the commercials be bad for you? And, ironically, Johnny cursed his smoking habit decades later.

28:35- "Remember, next week, be sure to see Ann Sothern as 'PRIVATE SECRETARY'. Jack Benny's next television show will be seen two weeks from tonight! 'THE JACK BENNY PROGRAM' was brought to you by Lucky Strike- product of THE AMERICAN TOBACCO COMPANY, America's leading manufacturer of cigarettes! This is DON WILSON saying good night!" "'THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW' is next, on the CBS TELEVISION NETWORK."

Jonny appears in another episode as Jack"a son when they play the owners of a traveling circus. It's a bit strange but hilarious that Jack would spank Dennis since he never spanked his daughter, Joanie. She was a daddy's girl from the beginning and even appeared in the show once as his daughter in a dream about his being cheap.
