Back in the 50's and 60's when rock and roll singers could actually sing. So glad I grew up in the 50's and 60's. There will never be anything like it.

Jack Scott is still living at age 82 and is reportedly active. He wrote most of his songs, this one recorded in 1960. I was only six years old then but I remember this song well. All those in the audience are all old men and ladies aged around or about 74 years old now, but I bet they remember this performance well!

In the 41 months between June of 1958 and November 1961 Jack Scott 19 Charts Records in Billboard Magazine. I grew up in Winnipeg. Jack was My Hero. I didn't know it at the time but Winnipeg was about to become The Rock & Roll Capital of Canada. Just ask Neil Young. Jack Scott 'Lit The Fuse' . When My Friends and I read that Jack was Canadian we were thrilled. Up until then all the 'Teen Music' on The Radio came from The U.S. Jack's Success inspired us. Just ask Burton Cummings. Suddenly it seemed like every kid in Winnipeg was in A Band. I was a lousy Drummer so I went into Radio. Along the way I produced Radio Documentaries on The Beatles, Elvis and The Evolution of Rock and did tons of Interviews....but was afraid to interview Jack. What if he wasn't a Nice Guy? It was 1976, Jack was recording for Dot Records. He had just got on The Country Chart with 'You're Not Getting Older You're Getting Better"....so I tracked him down and phoned him. If I come from Toronto can we do an Interview? We met at a Hotel in Windsor Ontario. I knew more about Jack than he remembered. I told him that, when I interviewed Gordon Stoker of The Jordanaires Stoker told me that Elvis once played Goodbye Baby and told The Group that if The Jordanaires 'couldn't keep up' he'd get 'that Jack Scott Vocal Group'. Over the years Jack and I stayed in touch. Occasionally I was able to help him. In 1982 his first Greatest Hits LP was on Toronto's Attic Records. Tom Jones released What In The World. Then during The Gulf War in 1991 Jack headlined the annual Winter Dance Party in Clear Lake Iowa. It was where he debuted The Rock & Rolling National Anthem. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tqmST-dMM3A.html. We finally got Jack to perform in Winnipeg. It was 1999. The Show Sold Out. He came again two years later. Another Sell Out. Burton Cummings was the MC. But you've got to know when to 'Fold Them'. Jack Headlined a Rockabilly Show in Las Vegas, went off to England to do it again and then flew to Finland and a final LP. He was inducted into The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and when COVID is over he'll finally be in The Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame. Jack Scott never became The Star he could have been or should have been. But The Musicians knew him. In 1975 Jack played England for the first time. After The Show a guy asked Jack to personalize an Autograph. Jack said sure. What's your name? It was Robert Plant. Jack had never heard of Robert but knew of Led Zeppelin. A few months later Zep went on tour and sent an Airplane to bring Jack and his wife Barb to NYC., I asked him if he heard any Jack Scott Influence. He didn't. So the next time we got together I played him Hot Dog. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eVdpMN3xkWo.html

On this day in 1960 {January 23rd} Jack Scott performed "What In the World's Come Over You" on the ABC-TV program 'Dick Clark's Saturday Night Beechnut Show'... At the time the song was at #30 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; a little over four weeks later on February 22nd it would peak at #5 {for 4 weeks} and it stayed on the chart for 16 weeks... Between 1958 and 1961 he had nineteen songs make the Top 100; four made the Top 10, his other three Top 10 records were "My True Love" {#3 in 1958}, "Goodbye Baby" {#8 in 1959}, and "Burning Bridges" {#3 in 1960}... The day after his above appearance on the 'Beechnut' show he celebrated his 24th birthday; he was born Giovanni Domenico Scafone, Jr. on January 24th, 1936...

Virtually forgotten today, he had a string of hits in late 50's/early 60's. I used to shop at a used record store starting about age 13 (way long ago lol) and picked up a used "45" for about a quarter, Jack Scott "Oh Little One"/flip side "Burning Bridges," and liked his deep resonant voice, one of the better ones in Rock history. RIP. Wikipedia: Jack Scott (born Giovanni Domenico Scafone Jr.; January 24, 1936 - December 12, 2019)[1] was a Canadian-American singer and songwriter. He was inducted into Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2011 and was called "undeniably the greatest Canadian rock and roll singer of all time."

From early 1960 - the great Giovanni Scaffone ("Jack Scott') - a little older than his contemporaries (born 1936) and one of the very few to write a good deal of his own material. The responses from the kids in this video keeps is what keeps bringing me back - the first girl who can barely contain herself and is on the verge of hyperventilating, the 2nd girl who's checkin' out "the goods", to the general disinterest of the boys and their "I-don't-get-it-what's-all-the-excitement?" looks!
