Jack Sikma has to have one of the most underrated signature moves of all time. First of all, most people nowadays have never even heard of him. But his reverse pivot post jumper was unstoppable. I'd always wondered why it was such a good move but seeing these highlights I realize why now. It's unexpected (no one else that I know of does it), it clears out space very subtly, and he's so tall and shoots so far above his head that it's almost impossible to block. Plus if his defender tries to get close enough to block it, he can drive around him and get to the rim. I never realized how good of a deep threat he was as well. I guess he may have been the very first stretch five...
As a 8 year old kid from Connecticut, I was allowed to stay up late on Friday Nights to watch Basketball. The NBA on CBS, and it was always in 78 and 79 Sonics/Lakers games. My first favorite sports team was the Seattle SuperSonics and my favorite player was Jack Sikma. Even as a little boy I had a pretty good grasp of the game and the Sonics with Gus Williams, Dennis Johnson, Jack Sikma, Freddy Brown, Paul Silas......they were pretty damn good. Bring Back the SuperSonics NBA, I miss my team.
Yeah they stopped so many teams like San Antonio etc.....just like the Jordan Bulls....I hated LA back then due to being a Celtic fan...now I love those LA teams......
2k11 actually had that move as a post up move.... Highly over powered lol. And I think that was a one and done. But smooth as silk. I wish some of today's centers would use it
He used his pivot foot very well. Now the NBA is nearly a 100% left foot to pivot league. That's the next area of improvement in the NBA - getting back to a solid pivot game. Then those 3's will really be popping.
That behind the back at 1:16 was insane. Kind of an interesting shot form, a little bit Larry Birdish where he puts it behind his head. I had this guys basketball card and always heard about him but had never seen clips of until now (at 40 something) because I didn't get into studying the game beyond highlights until the Bad Boys era.
Jack learned his move in college and perfected it in the NBA. He was also a good outside shooter and the only center in history to lead the league in free throw shooting.
I have been a fan of Jack since I use to watch him play. I adopted his shot in my own game and for someone that is only 5’5” tall, I was unstoppable just as he was. Love Jack Sikma.
Jack was great….husband watched him as a kid…too bad back then they did not have the supplements and weight training…that’s what Sikma needed…he needed to develop a Kobe like body…
Bill Russell is an all time great and he shot 44 percent from the field! So what's the point. If you watch skima play you know that he was a good player. In an era ruled by centers
