Jack Straw openers always bring a lot of energy and this one is on fire. Bettha had me really amped. Most importantly, you can hear the playfulness in Jerry’s vocals on Bertha. He was really feeling it this night, great to see him into the music.
@Jeff-S
@Jeff-S 2 года назад
The Dead said that they loved playing the Garden and always were "on" at these shows because the NY crowd gave a lot of energy to the band. I live on long Island. Every fall was a ritual to get on the LIRR and have "one long party from start to end" on the way to and from MSG. It was literally up stairs from Penn Station. Miss those days. The energy was definitely more present at MSG than at Nassau for some reason. But that was always a fun spring time ritual too. I was at MSG and Nassau shows every year from '79 to the end. Like Lolo Yodel, I download shows that I've been at too. Thank you GD family for letting us do this.

@bbrasky

Brent died a few months before, Bruce Hornsby stepped into his empty piano, and he fuckin killed it. That took massive balls. Vince is on the electric keyboards, up in the middle area. At that time, Hornsby was about 36 years old, and was a professional musician for about ten years. He played about 100 Grateful Dead shows from late 1990 til early 1992.

Dennis Campbell~I concur...as good as it gets. the mix is absolutely fantastic, the playing is deliberate, confident and f'ing cranked up. in my opinion, not a criticism, the music doesn't need, and is better without, the added visuals. I appreciate that you put in extra work adding the visuals to the video, but I'm perfectly happy with just the band onstage playing the show. while the additions are fun we loved the show as it was performed. it's probable that Grateful Dead shows had some of the least theatrics back then. It wasn't needed. the boys did just fine standing (or sitting) and playing
