LYRICS
I don't know what to say about these days
I'm seeing people changing in the strangest ways
Even in the richer neighborhoods
People don't know when they've got it good
They've got the envy and they've got it bad
When I was a kid everything I did was trying to be free
Running up and down Tinsel Town with the fire inside of me
My planets all in retrograde, the best of all my plans got laid
I made my breaks and some mistakes
Just not the ones people think I made
I'm a long way gone
Down this wild road I'm on
It's going to take me where I'm bound
But it's the long way around
It's a little hard keeping track of what's gone wrong
The covenant unravels and the news just rolls along
I could feel my memory letting go some two or three disasters ago
It's hard to say which did more ill
Citizens United or the Gulf oil spill
I'm a long way gone
Down this wild road I'm on
It's going to take me where I'm bound
But it's the long way around
It's never been that hard to buy a gun
Now they'll sell a Glock 19 to just about anyone
The seeds of tragedy are there
In what we feel we have the right to bear
To watch our children come to harm
There in the safety of our arms
With all we disagree about
The passions burn, the heart goes out
And we're a long way gone
Down this wild road we're on
It's going to take us where we're bound
It's just the long way around

I would like to thank all of my fellow J.B. fans who sent me love, support and prayers while I battled Pancreatic Cancer these past 9 months. Your prayers were needed and were answered. I am Cancer Free. I had Whipple Surgery performed at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC and they were able to remove the cancerous portion of my Pancreas. All other specimens came back benign. Thank you and God Bless all of you. And thank you Jackson for your healing music.

This song makes me want to roll down all the windows in my vehicle and cruise across the mid-west farm land in the heat of the day. This song grabs my heart, head, and soul with its beautiful melody and intensely personal lyrics that harken fear, and hope we don't/won't take too long around. I needed this @Jackson Brown my dad and child suddenly passed away two week's apart from each other. This last two week's. Boy can I relate to this one as well. Thank you for being a big part of music book of my life. What an amazing sound sad but ture lyrics factual, yet soothing. Brilliant I honestly needed this one. It's taking me to end the hate laws and than back to the stages. This song just became personal to me 😢✌ gun laws need to be fixed just like the sad hate. People are violent. Inanimate objects are not and never can be. Guns aren’t a problem any more than any other lifeless object. Don’t let the propaganda machine mainstream media lie to you and tell you what and how to think and what objects to villainize. Every premature loss of life is sad and tragic but human beings have used everything from rocks to guns to water to destroy lives. Place the blame where it truly belongs; in the hands of evil-doers, themselves, not in the means and methods they choose.

a glimpse into Browne's world...a couch and mismatched ottoman, a bookshelf that could have come from IKEA. A serious lineup of guitars; hand weights, probably rarely used. By an unseen window or door, a workstation with speakers and headset. An incongruous carpet. A picture of a man, unaffected by glamour or glitz, whose music--beautiful in its modesty and understatement--stitches his home together.

Upon disasters rich get richer- Life long lived, reflects soul searching- Exasperation of supporting meaningful earth change- Controversial point of despair, and rights drains us all- this life can go terribly off track but will end up where we need to be. Great sounds. Strong disturbing, satisfying poignant meanings as usual. Thanks Jackson

After nearly 50 years of listening to his music, with a ~30 year break in there for raising kids and such, his songs still move my inner me.

I’m glad Mr. Browne is taking over the late Glenn Frey’s place as far as the vocal group The Eagles goes.

wasn't aware of that .. Thought Glenn Frey's kid was doing that. There have been several "fill-ins" ...

After answering 184 calls of people wanting their COVID results here In a lockdown in Sydney, this made me so happy. It reminded me I’m in retrograde now. And I will always take the long way around. Hope to see the States again, my home 😎

I would love to see Chavonne sitting on my sofa with my grand children . . . sitting so so so polite, I have never seen anyone sit and perform so polite. What if we asked Chavonne to train our children how to sit without cell phones and tell stories with hands and faces.

I got to see Jackson in Buffalo this past December. Took this song to heart when I first heard it years back. After the tragic incident yesterday in Buffalo its clear we as a society cannot continue the path we are on.
