What’s funny is that if the Mets were even an averagely ranked offensive team, they would be God tier. They are one of the lowest scoring clubs in all of MLB, and one of the worst at getting hits with runners in scoring position.

@@TiagoGomez-hb9te Pedro is phenomenal. The best changeup I've ever seen and is one of the best to ever do it but for me deGrom was just utter dominance. To throw every fastball from 99 to 102 is just absurd. And to do what he did with basically 2 pitches is even crazier. If he stayed healthy there is no question he would have at least a 3rd Cy Young ( 2021) and who knows how many more. His off speed pitch, his slider was 92/ 93 lol. It just doesn't make sense.

@@owenstoddard1179 not even close. Ozzie is a power hitter from both sides of the plate, is a better defensive player, has more HRs, leads the NL in RBIs, and is absolutely on fire right now! Frazier has a solid BA this year but Ozzie has accounted for 30 more runs in less ABs. Frazier is good, but Ozzie is by far the best NL 2B this year.

Comparisons to Bob Gibson's 1968 season are ridiculous. Through July 1, Gibson had a 1.13 ERA to DeGroom's 0.95. But Gibson's ERA was over 151.2 innings, DeGroom's is over 78. Gibson already had 13 CGs and 5 SHOs, including CGs of 11 and 12 innings. DeGroom has only 1 CG and 1 SHO. Gibson's ERA actually went DOWN after July 1. Not a chance that DeGroom will lower his ERA through the end of the season. Gibson pitched 304 innings and won 22 games. DeGroom will be lucky to pitch 200 innings (I think he will end up around 180) and will end up around 15 wins. And his ERA will end up around 2.00. Due to the limiting of innings on pitchers today, all it will take is one bad start to ruing any chance of besting Gibson's modern day record. Yes, DeGroom is one of the best pitchers today. But to call his season among the best in MLB history is a joke. His won't even qualify as the best season in Mets History. .
