Mets need a major league manager. Luis is a good man for the minors. He lacks the vision to coach a playoff team. His mistakes tonight ...sits Dom Smith???...the Luis for JD switch....and pulling Jake
2021 was peak degrom. Consistent 100+ mph fastball, nasty wipeout sliders and changeups, and elite command. Sadly, when he returns this year, his velo won't be the same as he'll probably be throwing 96-98 to preserve his arm.
@@borood1188 if you want to compare him to Bert Blyleven then I will. Blyleven had a career ERA of 3.31 deGrom has a career ERA of 2.57. deGrom also has a lower WHIP, and more strikeouts per 9 innings.
Jesus. That fastball was in the glove before Mcutchen even started swinging, that’s nuts. Him and John Means have easily been the best pitchers in baseball to start 2021 off.
You know you’re an elite pitcher when the umps cant see it, can’t place you beautiful painting of the zone so they just go based on the hitters reaction.
As great as Jacob DeGrom is he should never have been throwing 99- 100mph on every pitch. This was the major reason from his UCL injuries. He should have been doing a better job of taking care of his arm. He should have been using his slider, change up, slider and sinker more. He threw his fast ball over 70 percent of the time. He was my favorite NY Met and I hope he can continue his career.
I love pitchers that pitch like this...keep it simple. Why throw anything besides a fastball until they prove they can hit that in the first place?? Having 100+ velocity helps though :D
@@domenicsantilli400 that’s why Degrom is attempting to establish a 2 Seam Fastball into his pitches. Most of the 98 pitches you see have a good amount of movement on them.
Weird how this was obviously a live game yet the pitch radar speed would show up a half a second before Degrom even pitched the ball lol how did it know how fast Degrom's pitches were going to be even before he threw it? lol
@@marktheshark4075 Yeah Degrom is awesome. The guy pitches his heart out and has one of the lowest ERAs in the league every year. But his career wins are low because the Mets just don't hit on the days he pitches.
@@whitesoxfanluiszavala1265 why, though? what information is it telling you? it's a completely arbitrary box that covers up the live action. why do i need a graphic to show me something that is utterly meaningless?
@@whitesoxfanluiszavala1265 that's not the strikezone. it's what the broadcast is interpreting the strike zone to be. it's as subjective as the Ump's calls, which are the only thing that matters. it's just a silly box
You can’t compare Degrom to Gibson. The man threw 13 shutouts that year, pitched 28 complete games. Won 7 WS….Degrom pitching an avg 5 innings?…will never win a WS with the Mets..recapping: not even close!!.
@@willshad Crazy thing called growing and improving mechanical efficiency. There's tons of videos on how he improved in certain areas that directly improved his velocity.
@@willshad Are you stupid? He's been great literally his entire career. Rookie of the year? In the running for CY almost every single year? Why are you even typing about a Sport or a person you CLEARLY don't know anything about.
