I showed this to my friend years ago while we were watching videos of Jerry Lee Lewis’s TV debut on the Steve Allen Show and playing shows with Keith Richards, Solomon Burke, Tom Jones and more Kings of Rock and Roll than I can list here. He looked at me with a big smile and said “That’s my friend Jacob Tolliver! How did you find this??” What I wouldn’t give to go back to that day and that moment. Everything I know about Rock and Roll I learned from my friend. May he Rest In Peace in God’s perfect grace. Thank you Jerry Lee Lewis and Jacob Tolliver for this very beautiful and special song. And thank you SB.
@Truth Seeker You are correct that Rock & Roll came from the Blues and Boogie Woogie, but you could have done it without the sarcasm, nastiness that you used. The Bible thumping bit, did not do you any good either, this was about music, not God. I really get tired of remarks like yours, that just denigrate people and do nothing else. BTW feel free to denigrate me if you want, as I am 76, and have heard all the ignorance that is available in this world, so anything you would have to say is quite unimportant.
I was thinking that I've never heard a totally convincing Jerry Lee impersonator. AND I think that I know why. Now, anyone who impersonates Elvis - and there are lots of convincing Elvis impersonators - started of - I would guess by being a fan of Elvis's singing and immersing themselves in his music. BUT, I bet nearly every Jerry Lee Lewis impersonator started as a piano player who at some stage heard Jerry Lee and thought," I'll have a go at impersonating him". And, of course, every Jerry Lee Lewis impersonator is expected to be able to play pretty good rock n roll/country piano, and marrying those vocal and instrumental skills is a real challenge. And, of course Elvis impersonators don't even have to play the guitar, and even if they did, it would only involve a few simple chords. Now, with all that in mind, I would guess that if you wanted to hear a great Jerry Lee impersonator, look within the ranks of the Elvis impersonators...but don't expect any great piano playing.
Screw the people who dislike this video they have no talent like Jacob does he is talented and the people who dislike this video are jealous and can’t play like Jacob does!!
No one realizes just how damn hard it is to play like this proficiently… and have that swing…. It’s a true gift… No pens had on this level since since Jerry lee Lewis… but this man has…
