I remember this so well. How remarkable it was for a First Lady & her sister to make a good will visit to Pakistan. No one to this day can top "The Bouvier Sisters"---Jackie & Lee..we didn't realize it then but they were American Royalty...true Aristocrats. I lived around the corner from her in New York City. She was prettier in person & when I said hello to her, she always smiled.

Thank you for uploading this rare footage for us. Jackie Kennedy was one of the most wonderful first ladies to ever grace the world. Such grace, poise and natural charm was only matched later by Princess Diana. Both Jackie and Diana had fond memories of Pakistan.

Imagine a First Lady of the US traveling through NW Pakistan with such light security today.
@willSmith-up9iq
@willSmith-up9iq 7 лет назад
Nondescript Well she has a very famous personality with her the then governor of West Pakistan wearing the big turban and with a mustache to match he is the Nawab of Kalabagh Nawab Malik Amir Mohammad Khan he was a brutally just person people trembled at and stood in awe of even his name what did she need security for that the nawab of kalabagh accompanied her was security enough sadly not many people like him remain that those that do remain dont even want to go near the dirty politics of the newly rich of pakistan today thats why the country has gone to the dogs.

It is truly a tragedy that the Cradle of Civilization is being destroyed. When Jacqueline Kennedy visited Pakistan, she couldn't have had any idea of what her country would be doing to that region of the world by the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st century. It is interesting to question what influence the Kennedy administration had, in so many ways, on the USA and the world at large. The horse and cattle show is incredible! To think Pakistan used to be visited by the First Lady. Today, the President sends drones. What is the matter with humanity?

So what went wrong ? From the beautiful first lady of USA, to roam about in an open car in the Qisa Khani Bazzar to suicide bombers looking for anyone with even a remote connection with USA. For the people of Peshawar to bear the brunt of the 10 year Afghan war. What a pity that such a natural friendship between two freedom loving people has degenerated into suspicion and mistrust. As a 10 years old school boy I was there in Peshawar waving to Mrs Kennedy..God Bless The USA and Pakista

Because I was very young growing up in this time, I know I see events in a more sentimental way. However, I know that the United States with Kennedy was trying to make real connections politically with other nations through this diplomacy - and in an altruistic way such as The Peace Corps and Alliance for Progress. So much has changed to diminish those times now and I am doubtful they can return. :-(

THose were the real people! Pakistan was good too at that time! No nukes, no party bazzies, and no killings either! Americans had never had any problems to this vertile and adequate people of Pakistan! Only a few would still remember of President Ayub's term in Pakistan and only a few remember of Kennedy's! What really happened!

Why does is look like she's screwing in light blubs when she waves? Like she's the Queen of England or something. Gimme a break.
@tammymariasettles4756
@tammymariasettles4756 10 лет назад
I'm cracking up! You're right, she does look like she is screwing in a light bulb! She does it so only her hand is moving, keeping any "jiggle" of the upper arms still. That is why you see the Queen of England or any female celebrity waving in a controlled little weird looking wave. Kind of like when I was cleaning the glass counter top in the cosmetic dept, my boss said to clean by moving the cloth in a north/south motion, rather than an east/west motion. The latter makes your butt wiggle back and forth! Haha! Try it, it's true! :)
@Drewbygus
@Drewbygus 10 лет назад
Oh my gosh really? I had no idea women were so concerned about upper arm jiggling! It's kind of sad. Who cares is you jiggle a little bit? Personally, I think women with some meat on their bones look more attractive than rail thin celebrities like Angelina Jolie or Nicole Kidman who I wish would just eat some french fries and a burger!

I just saw your reply in my junk mail! Oops! Your reply is not junk to me :) What a nice thing to say! Marilyn Monroe was curvy, and wore size 8 thru 12 in her short life. Today, women and girls want to be size 0! It isn't healthy. Or nearly as sexy! But we girls will always worry about our "jiggles." :)
