I remember this so well. How remarkable it was for a First Lady & her sister to make a good will visit to Pakistan. No one to this day can top "The Bouvier Sisters"---Jackie & Lee..we didn't realize it then but they were American Royalty...true Aristocrats. I lived around the corner from her in New York City. She was prettier in person & when I said hello to her, she always smiled.
Thank you for uploading this rare footage for us. Jackie Kennedy was one of the most wonderful first ladies to ever grace the world. Such grace, poise and natural charm was only matched later by Princess Diana. Both Jackie and Diana had fond memories of Pakistan.
Nondescript Well she has a very famous personality with her the then governor of West Pakistan wearing the big turban and with a mustache to match he is the Nawab of Kalabagh Nawab Malik Amir Mohammad Khan he was a brutally just person people trembled at and stood in awe of even his name what did she need security for that the nawab of kalabagh accompanied her was security enough sadly not many people like him remain that those that do remain dont even want to go near the dirty politics of the newly rich of pakistan today thats why the country has gone to the dogs.
It is truly a tragedy that the Cradle of Civilization is being destroyed. When Jacqueline Kennedy visited Pakistan, she couldn't have had any idea of what her country would be doing to that region of the world by the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st century. It is interesting to question what influence the Kennedy administration had, in so many ways, on the USA and the world at large. The horse and cattle show is incredible! To think Pakistan used to be visited by the First Lady. Today, the President sends drones. What is the matter with humanity?
I dont think i have ever seen any leader of any country as good looking as Mr. Ayub Khan of pakistan at 5:47. Fantastic video of friendship between two great nations.
I am so happy to see Misses Kennedy in Pakistan.. i like Kennedy a lot. I wish He was a live and still ruling the USA. She looks so kind and honest and pure. Thanks a lot for the upload .. believe me i really liked that video thanks once again.
Beautiful video with great background Pakistani music. Brings tears in my eyes. I wish Those leaders, Peoples, and days come back. God bless America and Pakistan. Oh God. Please guide us to the right path, the path of peace not war. Thank you the Uploader.
thanx helmer reenberg.........for uploading such a beautiful video that reflects the strong relationship of two of the great nations of the world...........alas now its shattered thats unfortunate............ :- (
So what went wrong ? From the beautiful first lady of USA, to roam about in an open car in the Qisa Khani Bazzar to suicide bombers looking for anyone with even a remote connection with USA. For the people of Peshawar to bear the brunt of the 10 year Afghan war. What a pity that such a natural friendship between two freedom loving people has degenerated into suspicion and mistrust. As a 10 years old school boy I was there in Peshawar waving to Mrs Kennedy..God Bless The USA and Pakista
Hi, Thanks for uploading such a great video. Can I have this video for my Library? I will provide your reference with this If i will ever upload this somewhere? Thanks
This is Pakistan. free of American inflicted terrorrism. This video has shown glimpses of our enviable past and some beautiful faces of the time which have now become a part of our history ,. Politcal affiliation apart , whatever is shown in this video is enough for us to be proud of being a Pakistani.
Man, it was just different back then. I hope Pakistan can rise again. It truly has so much to offer. I've been to Pakistan (Lahore) 5 times in my life and have enjoyed it every single time. The people are so welcoming, so relaxed, so friendly, so lively regardless of what they're going through.
Because I was very young growing up in this time, I know I see events in a more sentimental way. However, I know that the United States with Kennedy was trying to make real connections politically with other nations through this diplomacy - and in an altruistic way such as The Peace Corps and Alliance for Progress. So much has changed to diminish those times now and I am doubtful they can return. :-(
THose were the real people! Pakistan was good too at that time! No nukes, no party bazzies, and no killings either! Americans had never had any problems to this vertile and adequate people of Pakistan! Only a few would still remember of President Ayub's term in Pakistan and only a few remember of Kennedy's! What really happened!
Some have commented about how light mrs Kennedy's security is while travelling in the North West frontier province well she has a very famous personality with her the then governor of West Pakistan wearing the big turban and with a mustache to match he is the Nawab of Kalabagh Nawab Malik Amir Mohammad Khan he was a brutally just person people trembled at and stood in awe of even his name what did she need security for that the nawab of kalabagh accompanied her was security enough sadly not many people like him remain and those that do remain dont even want to go near the dirty politics of the newly rich of pakistan today thats why the country has gone to the dogs.
Bollywood has nothing to do Pakistan .bollywood has always shined because of our great actoresses and has also given opportunities to Pakistani so called artist to earn bread and butter in India .
it is not north west frontier it is pashtunistan. NWFP was a stupid name given to this great piece of land by the imperialists. Jacqueline Kennedy was such a great lady she and her husband were nice people unfortunately after Kennedy the military industrial complex took over and look where we are now
Es verdad ella era muy elegante. Esa region de pakistan ere muy hermosa pero la sucia politica dentro del pais ha completamente destruido la paz y hermosidad. No doubt those were the best dsys in the hisyory of pakistan. It is so scary now that i cannot even visit my birth place anymore. Que lastima y triste!!!!!!!
This was actual Pakistan. Now due to talibaans and alqaeda Pakistan is in big trouble. Originally Muslims and Pakistanis have always been friendly and they are even now.
I'm cracking up! You're right, she does look like she is screwing in a light bulb! She does it so only her hand is moving, keeping any "jiggle" of the upper arms still. That is why you see the Queen of England or any female celebrity waving in a controlled little weird looking wave. Kind of like when I was cleaning the glass counter top in the cosmetic dept, my boss said to clean by moving the cloth in a north/south motion, rather than an east/west motion. The latter makes your butt wiggle back and forth! Haha! Try it, it's true! :)
Oh my gosh really? I had no idea women were so concerned about upper arm jiggling! It's kind of sad. Who cares is you jiggle a little bit? Personally, I think women with some meat on their bones look more attractive than rail thin celebrities like Angelina Jolie or Nicole Kidman who I wish would just eat some french fries and a burger!
I just saw your reply in my junk mail! Oops! Your reply is not junk to me :) What a nice thing to say! Marilyn Monroe was curvy, and wore size 8 thru 12 in her short life. Today, women and girls want to be size 0! It isn't healthy. Or nearly as sexy! But we girls will always worry about our "jiggles." :)
Jackie and Lee , lovely women who had to nearly starve themselves, all to look way too thin. Sad times, not much different from today when the emphasis of " beauty" is so prevalent and forced onto healthy young women...mostly by MEN.
She truly was a beautiful woman not just from the outside but from the inside as well may america be blessed for a woman like her again. Yahweh bless America respect from a pakistani muslim
I know how good those times were, I remember that visit and then of course visit of LBJ then vice president of USA. Both countries need to do soul searching why, what & how thing got to present situation. As they say in urdu you can't clap with one hand. Fault is on both sides.
Such an amazing, beautiful, colorful and wonderful country was destroyed by its own Pakistan Army... what a misfortune for Pakistan... wish this army was never ever born and this could country could remain amazing and peace
