Actually everyone dreams every night they just don't remember the dreams. I once told myself "I will remember my dreams" and I had like 7 different dreams that night. P.S. to Jae + Dave: You do reality checks periodically throughout the day so that it becomes a habit when you dream, thus allowing you to become lucid. You're not meant to set an alarm and wake up to do it in the middle of the night! Also the time on a clock will change because it's extremely difficult for the brain to have a concept of time in a dream. Each time you look away and look back at the watch your subconscious is most likely generating a random time, and the time will change.

We definitely use ALL our brain, not necessarily all at the same time. But different parts of our brains have different functions and it’s so fun to learn about how they work and how they all connect. The “using only 10% of our brain” is a myth based on a misinterpretation of a small sample size study many decades ago and it somehow stuck. I’ll try to find the info on it in my neuroanatomy notes and in case anyone wants to look into it more, super neat stuff.

I just had a lucid dream while I was listening to this podcast, and the interesting part is that I remember everything they were saying, because the video kept going. Now I woke up, because it ended and I couldn't control my dream anymore... I'm impressed

I hate dreaming, most of my dreams are horrible I also have sleep paralysis often, thank goodness I don't remember most of my dreams when I wake up, but when I'm dreaming is enough to terrify me and ruin my next day.

I took a semester of psychology in college (correct me if i remember it wrong) it is said that when you dream of bad things it is actually your brain's way of preparing you for the worst things that could happen. Its like a drill, but just with random things.

So glad to get the full version of this pod cast....Plzzzzzzzx, Jae, come back soon.... I have complete control over my dreams to the point that I can pick up right where I left off night after night, change the narrative, convos, ppl, places, everything(feels extremely real with vivid color, sounds, even falling sensations, ect)... I dream in Sagas/movie scenes...no joke. Especially during full moon weeks when it’s like daylight at night bc the moon is super bright. It’s absolutely not restful though. 🤷🏻‍♀️. Am I weird? I have lucid dreams all the time. Some of them, they start out as a bad dream that I had before, and I would think “Oh this is that dream again. I don’t want a bad thing to happen again so I’m going to change it.” And then I change what happens in the dream. Often, I change into multiple people or animals according to the situation. When I was young, before I went to sleep, I would create scenarios in my head that I wanted to dream about, then I would fall asleep and have a dream according to that scenario, and I would have complete control over it. I literally had a lucid dream just last night. Is that weird? I didn’t even know what it was called, I thought everyone could do that. The downfall of that is I feel constantly exhausted, though. It takes so much energy to get through the day because my brain is so active at night. Sometimes I wish there was a switch I could flip that could stop me from thinking so much.

I'm one of those people who can fall asleep on trains and busses and wake up at my stop. The thing is, when I'm sleeping in something that's moving, I still maintain physical awareness. So every time the door opens at a stop, I notice it and count the stops until I need to get off.

When they were talking about in a dream time randomly changes I had a dream recently where in my dream it was a couple of days but some days were much longer than others. It was such a strange feeling waking up from that dream because I thought it was 9 at night but it was actually 9 in the morning.

i have been able to lucid dream twice...once was many years ago and it happened after i looked in a mirror. the second time was last year and it happened after looking at a computer screen. strangely enough, both things happened in my brother’s childhood bedroom (in the dream). it never had a mirror or a computer in real life. its like something about that room is stuck in my brain, and if im feeling particularly crazy i wonder if its because of a fall i took in it where i hit my head hard enough to get a concussion (i dont actually believe this but its fun to think about lol). other than those, the only dreams i have that i remember are recurring ones. i also get sleep paralysis with auditory and visual hallucinations. i find the topic of dreams and sleep phenomenon so interesting.

I have had the dream with my teeth falling out twice in my life, and it's scared the s#%t out of me. Looked it up, it means making way for new growth, hence something dying (maybe old thought patterns etc)to be replaced by something positive.This is how want to Interpret this kind of dream xx

i think that the technique of the time moving fast when you're dreaming vs not really moving when you're awake means that dreams tend to make time go by faster. For instance, you might be wearing a watch when you are dreaming, you check the time and it reads 5:45, you do something for what feels like a split second, you look down again and now it reads 6:15. In reality, time moves by slower, like when you are bored in class and you are just watching the clock on the wall and every second feels like an eternity. Time is more flexible. Another way of clearing this up is if you have ever watched Inception with Leonardo de Caprio, for every layer that they add into their world, the time is ( I think I might be wrong) elongated, giving them more time. so 5 minutes of real world would give them an hour in a dream :) I hope I explained that part bc I really wanted to go through the screen and explain it to them since they seemed confused

I dream too much from the time i go to sleep to the time i wake up I've dreamed about 3-4 dreams with different settings and different people. It's as if i haven't slept a wink. I wake up tired, my body is fatigued and my mood is bad. I just want to get a goodnight sleep without dreaming especially dreams that are super disturbing. I can't fall asleep at will, can't sleep in noisy environment or just anywhere and is easily waken up by small distraction. I don't know if it's healthy to play music while sleeping but i play soft music throughout the night probably to cut out every little noise. Music is therapeutic i feel :3 At this point i might even need therapy it's draining the life out of me. Also I'm gonna look into the pillow thingy which Dave mentioned if it helps i mean why not✌🏻

I lucid dream very often, but I can't always control what's happening in my dream. Sadly you can't always control them, though you can learn to control them easier. You're just aware you're dreaming and things feel real and it's cool (unless you're having a lucid nightmare because then it's scarier even if you know it isn't real it still feels real). I also remember almost every dream I have. Which helps to lucid dream because I know certain things that happen in my dreams that let me know I'm dreaming, (i.e. I can't type in my dream without extreme effort. Like it's hard to type actual words and not nonsense. I also tend to be barefoot and literally for some reason can't put shoes on) so then if I notice one of these things in the dream my brain is like oh wait this is a dream and then it becomes a lucid dream

And I guess it was loud enough that it sounded so real and my mom thought I have guys in my room at 12am..
